  1. i wouldnt know...i never played wow, but i HAVE played other mmos that are apparently identical to wow, and i got a MUCH more fulfilling experience by just accepting the objective and moving along.

Story should not be something that comes at the cost of gameplay....ESPECIALLY in such a booming and long-lasting industry like mmos. MMOs base their entire success off of gameplay, not story...not ever.

There's a reason why.....you can only tell so much story when people are logging in everyday for many many hours. And unless you can keep up story with that pace of people playing, then you're already doomed to fail.

The game has been out for 2 weeks and a day (for those with the earliest EGA). Do you think the story ends at 50? What MMOs have you played that never raised the level cap, added content, etc?

  2. So, in a quest I meet someone who is onto me - I bed him in order to get away without being exposed, and the consequence is 50 points to the light side... crazy stuff!

Any other surprising outcomes people have come across?

You slept with him? I guess this is the reason.

Odd, though. What was the other option? To just let him live?

  3. I think it comes down to this: if you've played an MMO before, especially at launch, you know this game is doing fantastically well. If you bought this game just because you like Star Wars or because you were a KotOR fan, then you don't really know what you're talking about. MMOs operate differently than single players games, and I think this game has just appealed to a wider audience that doesn't really understand that. If you did, you wouldn't be complaining about all this trivial BS.

This x 1,000,000. Unrealistic expectations from players who have A) never played an MMO, B) have played an MMO, but not @ launch, or C) have crappy hardware or new hardware with drivers installed by Windows Update that are several months behind the latest releases.

  4. They also didn't have to penalize people who pre-ordered by having them be the brunt of any queues. It's almost 2012, I don't think most were prepared for or expecting 2+ hour wait times. Any "early head start" they had will be diminished ten-fold within a week, because they'll be waiting to play while everyone who just started on launch day will be on low population servers. Remember that.

Why do people keep saying, "It's almost 2012..." like it some sort of big deal? What does the year have anything to do this? Is it because the masses have been spoiled by instant gratification that it's entirley unacceptable to have to wait, period?

Seriously - when you enter the queue, you're provided an estimate of how long it will take. So far, in my experience, that estimate has been pretty accurate. So, instead of sitting there staring at the screen, I get up from my desk and go do something for XX amount of minutes or X hours and XX minutes. If you can spend your time brooding over a queue for a game, then you've got some priority issues in your life.

  5. Just got my invite!

  6. The man has a point all. Bioware is stating they have 2 million pre-orders and alot of people actually pre-ordered to get in early. You may think it is ok to deny paying customers the ability to play as the advertisement stated. Which was pre-order start 5 days early.

Now people who paid their money which by the way Bioware gladly took are being denied the 5 day early access. False advertisement and If you do not get in send an Email to the better business bureau. State your reasons and you can easily see what Bioware stated and something may be done.

I do not care about what the fanboys state here and how your a jerk. Fair advertising is a legal issue. As far as the Queue getting in game, Bioware knows of the problem and needs to correct it asap. There is no excuse for this. One they know the population of the people that pre-ordered and two, they know the server populations. No excuses you advertised the pre-order and it can now be claimed as false advertising.

Not a good way to start with a new game.

Where are they being denied this? They were promised UP TO 5 days of Early Access. No one was ever promised a full 5 days, or 7 days that some have been so lucky to receive.

  7. Also, at the bottom of the page on which you are brought when clicking on that ad:

*Customers who redeem their Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center prior to launch will be able to pre-load the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Game Client before the official Game launch. Pre-loading the Game does not grant you access to the Game. Pre-Ordering the Game only allows you access to the Early Game Access period and your Color Crystal. Early Game Access may be up to 7 days. The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code. In order to continue playing the Game after the Early Game Access period, you must redeem your official Game Product Registration Code at the Code Redemption Center.

  8. My wife actually got the codes ordered on July 21st while I was in Afghanistan. We thought our codes would reserve our spot in line. Unbeknownst to us, registration was the key to early access, not purchase. We'd have probably found that out had we spent the required 12 hours per day searching the internet for developers' hints about how the early access rollout would occur.

I didn't find out that we had to register the games until last week. Obviously we're still waiting for early access. I'm really disappointed with this whole deal. Oh well, I spent the morning scuba diving and the afternoon with my niece. It's nice to have a real life.

Why not read the original e-mail? This was at the bottom of my digital purchase e-mail from Origin:
