  1. This thread wasn't created to become a "better than the rest" statement. Sorry if you're confused about that. Die hard juggers have a lot more mobility and options with the class now more than ever. I've played powertech since 1.2, so I know all about their pros and cons, up to the recent patch, where Ap's are currently enjoying some sweet buffs as well.

If you're thinking about trying a jug for the first time, definitely go vengeance, especially if you like to throw out guard occasionally. Vengeance Jugs and Advanced Prototype Pt's are the easiest specs in the game to play, and are also very durable. Rage has nowhere near the survivability of vengeance, or Ap powertechs.

With the arrival of 4.0, rage received some nice mobility and quality of life utilities, but in the end, rage is the connoisseur's class. Ap powertechs roll their three button combos and do insane damage. Trust me I know all about it, but I find that gameplay boring. Playing a rage jug and doing well, requires a much higher skill cap, and that's why I find it beautiful.

Ok not sure why you decided to take the tact you just did. I was just asking a simple question because of the other characters that I enjoy playing. You think your a connoisseur? You think the skill cap is higher so I'm afraid it might be too much for me? Really... this game is pretty casual.. Rage is not that difficult to play. Yes its harder than PT or Sorc but please come back down to earth. On a side note.. If you are using only three button combos then you would be bored and also very average at PT.

In any event I do thank the above poster for responding to my post without the prejudice. If the beauty of rage is that it has a higher skill cap (really..) but still underperforms against other classes that I personally enjoy.. mainly because of theme not just performance then you can keep your beauty.

What I was really hoping for was a dps compliment to my bros PT and was just exploring different avenues.. but my question has been answered. I still have to chuckle "connoisseur" I wonder if you can even tell the difference between a Shiraz and a blended Shiraz.

  2. Thx nice honest answer. I really want to find a dps class that compliments my bros really tough PT. I love mixing in intercedes and throwing up the occasional guard on him but want to be a bit of a threat too. Veng may be best but gonna keep rage in mind.
  3. Well currently I play Veng. I tried rage but I have a fully min maxed (except for all the datacrons) PT. I enjoy the PT and always have. Why would I do rage for single target and skirmishing if I have that. It seems more potent and I like it. Veng seems to play different enough. So what advantage does rage have over PT. I'm trying to see the beauty not being negative.
  4. LOS? roots?

From we target you, until we are done killing you, the time is less then 4 seconds.

Shatter shot = 50% slow + 20% healing decrease + leg shot = root. Fills 30% of your resolve bar.

    2 second cast + instant cast = 20-25k crit (guaranteed i may add) x 2 + 2 x 15k followthrough's. = 50k + 30k = 80k.

    Thats a 2 second window.

First of all you are talking about good coordination and you would get away with that once if I paired my bros vanguard with mine. You wouldn't make it through your rotation a second time even if the healers were standing still. You seem to think you will not have anyone attacking you or stunning you or that the healer wont bubble, but you said one thing that is correct "increase the other persons effectivity exponentially" ... this is especially true with healers.

The natural reaction is to help the healer even with average players. I have never been gunned down on my sorc or sage or even my op like you just described.

  5. Ok my 2 cents, all these people defending heals... Of course if your playing in a vacuum and you have the above scenario playing out fighting heals is doable but it never plays out like that in 8v8. Heals becomes much tougher the more people they have. I have played them all and see this issue from both sides. A heal especially a sorc only needs minor assistance from any player on his team to get out of trouble and be back to healing full out.

I don't tunnel dps and hammer, stun, everything on heals with a second dps, what happens is with the proliferation of stuns he get loose runs and heals both himself and others the cycle repeats. Add one more heal and the problem is compounded.

You need a coordinated focused team to manage them whereas the reverse does not. A little help from anyone paying attention to heals and he is good to go. My sorc may not do 3.5 mill heals but I can easily churn out 2.5 and throw out plenty of my own utility to play objectively. Its just too powerful and easy.

  6. I'm not a hater but what caused me to go back to concealment was arenas.. not even ranked but regular arenas. I certainly would like some pointers but by the time you set up and tickle them with your dots it just seems like someone on your team is already dead. What utilities do you use.. how do you do in arena fighting?
  7. Just got back to the game and looking for an active warzone server. Harbinger seems to have a standard population all the time. Looks like the pvp servers are light. Does this one have good pvp activity? Can't find where to see this information.

  9. I have a quick question. I started tanking and really like the change. On the augments question I realize that Hp is good and the % gain on heals etc is a factor, however the difference in endurance between power Aug and End Aug is about 20 per Aug. 13 x 20 is is 260 or 2600 HP. Seems to me that is about 1 hit in pvp. Not sure it is worth changing them all out for that. Am I missing something?

    Thx.

  10. Greetings,

I have been searching for some information scoundrel 3.0. I play primarily a scrapper build.

First, I would like to know what augments the PVP community is using. Power or Cunning? Does it matter or why?

Second, just how much does defensive screen absorb? I cannot find an amount anywhere only vague terms like moderate.

Third, does the surge cap at 70% apply for Scrappers? It appears to me that it does because everything over 70% seems to greatly diminish.

Fourth, crit does not seem to diminish as fast I currently run with 25%. Is this correct?

Finally, accuracy in pvp. The lion share of our abilities is tech. That is at 100%. Do I really need any for pvp?

Thx. If this info is somewhere please let me know. I have looked here, dulfy, youtube, torhead and even nox through just googling. Just not seeing it. Don't feel like you have to answer all the questions. I will take anything :p

Edit: ok found some stuff on accuracy and crit seems I'm on target there. Some seem to like 75% on surge some don't, gonna stay at 71 for now. Still looking for thoughts though on the rest.

  11. I have read this entire post. A lot of it is disrespectful and would never be said face to face. You can call names and rage at Mia all you want but his posts are well thought out and he remains in control of himself.

Personally I have T1 gear and do quite well with it. With legacy gear you can gear up alts or your main very quckly with T1. If people don't care to pvp enough to even get T1 pvp gear I don't think you're going to make people pvp more by simply making them even + or - 5%.

Also I would hate to lose the positives of trying different things with the gear. That in itself is its own game. And again I am just playing around with T1 gear. Takes very little time really.

  12. I find myself the odd one here. I always played tactics in the past due to the play style and mobility. So naturally I stayed with tactics. PVP was a nightmare trying to get a pulse cannon to go off. So I gave tactics 3.0 a try and figured it had to be more survivable and bursty than plasma.

Oddly tactics should be more survivable but it doesn't seem so to me. Plasmatech seems to be. Only thing I can think of is 15% reduction on dots or stuff like taking less damage on stun is not working in tactics. I get melted fast in tactics.. just not as fast on plasmatech.

I have had at least 4 1v1s in warzones and seem to wear down the PTs I have encounterd I'm not that great a pvp player and my gear is not that great. I don't tunnel dps so depending on how long the game I do about 500 to 800k with plasma on the longer games these are pugs.

So not sure what I'm gonna pvp with but gonna keep trying them out. The dots add up fast and incendiary round at 30m plus the mobility and the energy regeneration is very good. Maybe tactics is better with better gear.

  13. Thumbs down to huttball. I pretty much like all the other maps. I still do not understand why we cannot choose. All the people who love it can play it as much as they want. Right now what is tolerable is the fact that ques pop so fast that I can leave it and wait a short time and join another.

I have read many of the arguments both ways and for me choice always wins out. In any event I get to choose not to play this so I guess it really doesn't matter.

  14. I just want to say that this thread has been the most enlightening thread I have seen since I dusted off my smuggler and began playing him again.

If we could just take the emotion out of this thread, I would say sticky it.. heck sticky it anyway. I have learned so much from this back and forth. I am just about to finish the WH stage one grind and now I know what I am going to do from there.

Thanks a mill for both sides viewpoints.. BTW I do want to say that I am impressed by the capabilities of both sides. Obviously, both are very capable healers..

  15. With the whole not-getting-healed while in stealth, it works like this and I don't think people realize it. In normal stealth, you can receive heals normally regardless of spec. The only time a stealth mode is not going to allow any healing is if you use Force Cloak, unless specced into it from the Infiltration tree.

I did not know that.. Thanks. I do use force cloak a lot it is especially noticable in voidstar cause I am holding objective and cloak and run to healing node.. the other thing is most of the time I really only need healing when I force cloak. That is when Im in trouble and need the heal. It seems very hard to break aggro without it.

Still great point and your right I did not realize it.

EDIT: Let me clarify. I always need heals when fighting.. it just seems like when I am cloaked the only time I need heals is when I am forced to used Force Cloak.. Normal stealth Im usually pretty full.
