  1. Because some of us play on a full server, with a wait time to log in, then while questing, see maybe 1 other person, and the chat channel is completely dead on planets for the most part. Because you go to a quest hub, and your on a full server with a que time to log on, and you see maybe 1-2 other people, and the chat channel is dead on planets for the most part. Because you spend a lot of time zoning into your ship hanger, then running for 2 minutes to your ship, then zoning into your ship, then watching a cutscene of your ship flying off, then loading into your ship, then walking to a star map to find a place you want to travel, then flying there, then watching a cutscene, then loading into the hanger, then walking 2 minutes to the hanger exit, then loading onto the planet. All done in an "instance" only you can access. Because the only way to find groups, is to ask in general chat. Which you pretty much need to be in the main social hub (fleet for example) to do, because planets don't have a general, server wide chat channel, or any type of lfg tool (doesn't have to be cross server, maybe just a "i'm looking to do this" way to flag yourself). Because just about every single quest you do, will send you into a room/corrodor instanced for only you, yes you can let part members join in it, but you won't see any random people there. Seeing other people you don't know, is what gives an mmo "ambience" and "life" imo. The people you run by while questing, you don't talk to them, but they're there. Or sitting at the auction house. Any of these make the game feel alive. Yes there is a lot of ways to group up , with flashpoints/ect to do as a team. Questing with your friends doesn't exactly mean its "a massive multiplayer game. A friend and I are going to play mario brothers together on the nes, I guess that's a mmo?
  2. Again, because the graphics are so worth a good pc to run it. The requirement vs quality should read: 2ghz dual core, 2gb ram, geforce 8600 gt = 100fps imo
  3. i7 3.2ghz 8gb ddr 1600ram 256gb ssd geforce 580gtx 220ish in fleet (25-100fps) solo (50-120) warfronts (20-50) I find it funny the people who post about this issue saying upgrade your hardware. This games graphics don't deserve an upgrade passed a 2005 walmart pc.
  4. How has this post even made it this far? Addons, I can see these not being exactly "needed" some of them have been helpful ideas in other games, but I don't think they are "needed". It does make the Ui customization more fun to have these options though. Macros , on the other hand, I am willing to bet are going to be put in the game, whether 5million people post here they don't want it or not. I'm healing on my sorc. Just exactly how are you supposed to do it? Click on their unit frame, hit your key for heal, click another free, hit your key for heal? How it should be: /cast @mouseover "heal" If your in favor of clicking frames, there's no help for you.
  5. After reading so many negative posts I really started to think about why people would post bad things here about this game if they only intend to quit. I think I know why, or at least why I am doing it. I like mmorpgs. The first one for me, at least large scale, was final fantasy xi. I remember looking into the distance and being awed at how far i could see far off landscape, and it wasn't there just as an image, I could actually travel there. The scope and size of the world just totally blew me away, and I've been hooked on these type of games ever since. When I quit ffxi and started playing wow, I again got this feeling, the world is huge, i can explore where I want. Yes it is linear, but this game feels more linear to me than any other I have played, even more so than rift. That feeling , I just dont' like, and I don't want the mmo industry to get the idea that this is a good direction for games of this genre to go, so I am here voicing my opinion that I don't like it, and I have already cancled my sub. I am currently level 38 sith sorc, and every zone I have seen so far feels so dead, linear and completely dull I feel like i'm playing a single player game. The story was neat for a while, but I can't see paying a monthly sub for a story that will eventually end. That feels like buying a book and then paying monthly to own it. After you read it, there's no reason to keep paying for it. I really wanted to like this game, but I just don't get that open game feeling I get from some other mmos here. Fans can curse this post all you like, but it just isn't there for me, and I hope games like this aren't the future of the mmo genre.
  6. i7 @ 3.2ghz 8gb ddr3 1600 ram 256gb ssd radeon 6950 40-100 around open zones. 20-25 warzones Given my opinion about the graphics in this game, my performance should look like: 250-500 open zones 250-500 warfronts Imo I don't believe there is going to be some "magical patch fix" for this issue, ever. I think there will be some optimizations that happen over the next year. And my guess is expect a 10% or so performance increase. Using a very bad base engine (hero engine) to design this game on was also a mistake imo. The game also feels very unresponsive to me. Another issue I don't believe will ever be top notch from a magical fix.
  7. 5/10 at best Sound: 4/10 Sometimes the music in this game is great, it fills in during a good combat sequence, but sometimes it just isn't there at all. The sound effects for some things, mount for example, is just horrible. Graphics: 3/10 I would have gave it a 5/10 10 years ago. Story: 5/10 OK, I see a lot of people really enjoying the story. I'm currently level 38 sith inquisitor. I don't get what all the hype over the story is about (i'm a few missions passed act 1). My idea of a fantasy story isn't starting out as a slave and working my way up to a mediocore ranked officer. I want something grand (world is about to die, i'm here to save it, you know, fantasy?) Maybe I'm not that far into the story yet, if this is true, then my opinion on this topic is invalid. The voice overs I did find neat for about 20 hours of gameplay. The quests, like all mmos, very repetative (go down this corrodor and kill this guy, repeat). World: 4/10 Every zone I have seen so far has been extremely "dead". My server (the crucible pits) was full since launch. Most times there is 10-30 minute wait time to log in. I know about the sharding (instancing) system and Imo it is the worst idea to hit mmos (at least how they have used it). Nothing seems to be moving, or alive at all. Next to zero "ambience". One planet in particular, alderon i think it was, felt so dead it seemed like walking around I was just moving on a still picture, not a 3d alive enviroment. Pvp: 4/10 I have been having fun doing huttball, I actually enjoy the idea behind it unlike a lot of posts i've seen. The controls feel slugish to me though, so I can't really get "into" the pvp that much. I am one who votes that the game needs macro support. Example, healing. Trying to heal off of raid frames without having your heals at least on a mouseover is horrible imo. Presentation: 9/10 Upon first loading up the game, seeing the opening cutscenes and getting started, I was very impressed and excited.
  8. Because you had the unfair advantage of playing a superior game at one time, and now that this game doesn't even come close to that quality, you don't think its a 10/10 like the blind fans do.
  9. 3/10 for me. I just cannot get over how my character doesn't feel "smooth" in terms of controls. Just to throw this out there, I have only read the first 3 pages of this post but a reocuring thing is clear. People with accounts older than release month, or close to it, seem to rate the game higher than those who only created their accounts within the last 2-3 months. Someone should do a poll on this.
  10. FFxi during the chains of promathia exspansion before it was nerfed.
  11. I completely agree with your last sentence here. One thing I always hated about wow was how you completely toss away all your gear every few months with each new patch, only to farm all new stuff. My favorite online game to date was final fantasy xi. Getting endgame gear in that game (I quit in 2008 so I am speaking of that time and earlier) was quite time consuming, but it wasn't outdated in a few months, or even years in most cases. The game felt like the more time you spent playing it, the farther along you got. The downside was that new players had a hard time getting in the door. Older players had so many more class options leveled, gear, money to buy that gear and game knowledge that trying to play catch up was near impossible.
  12. I hope future games don't use the sharding system. Don't set their graphic standards to this game and don't think combat this "clunky" should be a standard.
  13. To the OP. I did not play this game during beta, and the only things I knew about it were youtube videos and friends on skype who were in beta. I preordered the game. I love online mmos, but I have been tired of the one i've been playing for quite some time now. Within maybe 2 days tops I realized I just was not enjoying this game at all. I've posted my opinion about it on the forums. Because I dislike it maybe you could label me a hater who wants the game to fail. I find it hard to believe anyone would post here only for that reason though. Didn't we all just pay at least 60$ to play it? I would like for it to be the perfect game I've been searching for, but it just doesn't hit that "spot" for me. I'd like to share why though, as I see so many threads saying they quit/left the game w/e because of bugs, or no lfd tool, or the ui sucks. While some of these things have bothered me, I don't find them "gamebreaking" because they can, and some of them will, be changed fixed. What I do find gamebreaking, is that I"m currently level 38. I play on a pvp server that for the first week after launch had at least a 10 minute log in time, sometimes 30minutes + peak times, and I think I can litterally say I've seen MAYBE 2-3 people total in any zone I've gone to. How is that even possible for an online game, on a full server? The sharding system is something I'm totally against. In fact, IMO the exact opposite would be more ideal for me. Have less servers with more people per server. I pay for an online game to play with other people, not solo. For this reason my experience on the game has lead me to believe this is a solo player game, with a few online options. Not worth a sub imo. The other is graphics and gameplay. The graphics are mediocore at best imo. Log in to final fantasy 14. The game may suck, but the graphics are nice. This game reminds me of playing a few offline rpgs in 2000. I've seen a few threads popping up saying the in game graphic settings aren't working correctly. I play the game maxed out in every way I can, but I'm not visually impressed at all, the opposite in fact. Graphics aren't game breaking for me, but added to the feeling of noone around in zones that I would think should be flooded on a full server, first week of release (everyone is leveling), and my interest goes downhill further. The gameplay to me feels very unpolished. I don't know exactly how to describe it, other than "clunky". Maxed out on my pc I am around 50-110 fps in most zones. In warfronts however, I sit at about 25-60. The game feels very "choppy" even when I'm at 50+ fps. I didn't spend 60$ on this game with the intention to just log in and bash it. I wanted a new online gaming "home". Imo this game isn't it. Why would I post anything about it and not just move on then? Online game is a community. Again, I want to play with other people. I believe this game has gotten too much hype, and I also believe it did so well in sales at launch, not because it was just a great game, but because there is a ton of players out there, tired of their old games, desperately looking for another. People looking to buy this game who might read these forums to help them decide, need to hear from people other than just the blind fans who would like the game reguardless of any flaw.
  14. Fun is very subjective, that's why I listed "maybe this game just is not for me. Character response however, could be listed as subjective, but it is also a huge topic on the general forums that the devs are "currently looking into". 2- Yeah, I see 50-150 people on each planet as well. the only problem is the game creates a new "instance" and phases them out from each other. The worst idea ever imo.
