  1. There are 8760 hours in 1 year.

8765.81 exactly ... Which makes me 341,866.59 hours old, roughly.

Overall average life expectancy in the US is currently 78.57 years

78.57 years X 8765.81 hours in 1 year = an average life expectancy of

688,729.6917 hours (NOT adjusted for leap years, plagues, flues, raptures

    or Mayan apocalypses)

Only 346,863.1017 hours to go, roughly ...

  2. 2.1 was a cartel market update... you remember when they went f2p they told us the market would get 1-2 major patch / years... This was the first one... wait for 2.2 before making a drama

"""First, you can continue as a subscriber, which gives you unlimited access to ALL game features and future Game Updates at no additional charge.""

Where exactly in that post does it say "access to ALL game features and future Game Updates at no additional charge excluding bla bla bla"

  3. http://www.swtor.com/free

""Subscribe Now to Get Full Access to Game Content and Features""

Well in actual fact subscribing DOES NOT grant me FULL access to the game's content and features.

And a little further down ...

""Enjoy access to the full spectrum of character races in the game"".

Well, no, subscribing evidently doesn't do that either ... Wouldn't that be considered false advertising?

  4. If you feel you aren't valued and get by as a preferred account then by all means do so. They owe us nothing beyond what we already get. I expect nothing more because I get everything they promised already.

    Well ... technically ... you don't!

    http://www.swtor.com/free

Scroll down to ""Subscribe Now to Get Full Access to Game Content and Features""

The title alone is a complete fallacy considering subscribing DOES NOT grant me FULL access

to the game's content and features. Nor is the statement a little further down ""Enjoy access to the full spectrum of character races in the game"" true.

    Soooo

  5. I have been here since open BETA and pre-launch. I am just wondering how many have stuck with it and what are your thoughts? I know I have a few and will elaborate with other posts. I have paid my monthly all the way through but is really worth it?

Start dates are in the sig ... pre-day one beta tester.

Unsubbed when it went F2P ... came back around January and since my "subscription" is being devalued with every patch (as I expected the first time I unsubbed), considering abandoning ship again at the end of this cycle ... 10 days to go, give or take.

Love star wars, love the game itself ... severely disappointed in the direction, management, and pricing models.

  6. It didn't need to. It's just a minor incremental update. It gave people some stuff they have been clamoring for and that they said they would pay for. So Bioware said OK and did what they were asked to do.

    And it worked.

Have you seen the mob scene on the fleet? People are lining up in droves because they are so excited to spend money on colors, of all things. Colors! It's like claiming you need Twinkies to survive and all Twinkies should be free.

Now think back a few months. Remember when there was no F2P? How many Cartel Coins were you given?

    ZERO.

And then suddenly, out of the blue, when F2P came out you were given, absolutely free, 500 Cartel Coins per month to "spend" (cough!) any way you wanted on Cartel Market, stuff that cost real money for F2P players. In essence Bioware rebates $5.00 of your subscription each month. They effectively lowered your subscription rate and gave you $5.00 per month so you could have "fun" in the Cartel Market without spending ANY extra money (money as in real money)

Now, you may claim that those CCs are not "worth" it so for you it does NOT mean you got yourself $5.00/month free, and if you believe that then GOOD FOR YOU because you are a discerning player who realizes that most of the CM stuff is fluff and the small amount of stuff that is not can usually be purchased with credits instead.

And for the very few things that are NOT (if there are any) use your FREE Cartel Coins to BUY them, those FREE coins that were suddenly handed to you out of the blue that you didn't get before F2P.

But Nooooooooo! Instead you declare that "everything should be free!" That may be your point of view, but you know what? That's not how it is. And if you get this upset over a friggin' COLOR, for chrissakes, then perhaps it would be best all around if you found another sandbox to play in.

You people remind me of folks on welfare who buy Cheetos with my tax money and then complain they can't by cigarettes with their EBT cards, too.

    1. 500cc is a precise calculation of just UNDER what it would take to buy anything thus inciting me to "buy more"

so essentially it's a slightly "dirtier"mirror of every know tax revenue system ... I will give you 5 back but charge you 10 for something else along the line.

""Oh but you just have to save up your ""free"" stipend and get whatever you want""

Bu||****, I subscribe so I don't have to wait, or save, or deal with micro-transaction crap ... it defeats the entire g0d damn purpose of subscribing.

    2. Anything added to a game is "content". Stupid Farrah hair or a shiny new 52 Op, doesn't matter it is still ""content"" and purchasing a game from the store and subscribing to it for a monthly fee should in an ideal "non-douchbaggery" world cover my access to all of it's content.

It's not a "sense of entitlement" as people here are so apt to label, its the entire reason I preordered and subscribed ... So I would have access to the games content and I wouldn't have to "nickle and dime" my way to the $hit I actually want to access.

Currently almost everything included in our subscription is available in some form on the Cartel Market and thus on TGTN, whilst the reverse is NOT even remotely true ... and yet I'm a "founder / subscriber / preorderer"

My subscription is being unarguably devalued with every patch.

  7. Almost everything included in our subscription is available in some form on the Cartel Market and thus on TGTN, whilst the reverse is NOT true ... and here I thought actually buying the game at launch and subscribing to it monthly entitled me to access all of it's content.

You know what they say, "In the long term, buying is cheaper then renting". Or in the context of the

cartel market ... Subbing is quickly becoming less valuable and less advantageous then "coining"

  8. EA / BW's Cartel Market is a scam designed specifically to weasle more money out of us ... sadly it's winning.

For what I am actually taking advantage of that is included in my subscription, It is quickly getting to a point where I would be better off ditching my sub and spending that money strictly on cartel coins since almost everything I "rent" via subscription is available through a one time cartel market purchase.

Then I could one time purchase what subscription features I actually take advantage of, and the new Cartel Market Only stuff I actually want and save myself the recurring bi-monthly expense.

Subbing is quickly becoming, if not already, less valuable and less advantageous then "coining"

  9. For what i am actually taking advantage of that is included in my subscription i am quickly realizing I would be better off ditching my sub and spending that money strictly on coins ... then i could one time purchase what sub features i actually take advantage of and the new CC stuff I actually want and save myself the recurring bi-monthly expense.

Subbing is quickly becoming less valuable and less advantageous then "coining"

  10. As a subscriber, we believe that the game provides sufficient enjoyment to be worth the $15 per month. That's not the point in question. Rather, it's a matter of value. Does $15 worth of subscription actually give you more than what you could do as a Preferred customer making $15 worth of Cartel Coins purchases each month?

The real value of the Subscription is determined by a few things. First, what do Subscribers get that Preferred customers can't. Things like the cash cap, or the rested xp, or the mailing of currency. Those are the features which are only available through the subscription, so they make up bulk of the value of the subscription. Differant players may value these features differantly, depending on their playstyle. The more of this stuff that there is, the higher the value of a subscription will be.

Second, the value of the subscription is determined by things that Preferred players have to buy that Subscribers get as part of their rental package. Most of these features are one-time purchases, making it far more economical for players who plan on playing the game long-term to drop their subscription and just buy the features they want (Companion Customization, Hide Head Slot, Color Matching, Extra Crew Skill Assignments, etc). These features cost subscribers money month after month, while they require only a single small purchase from a Preferred Customer. Whether it's a house, a car, or just an in-game feature of an MMO, everybody knows that in the long run it's always cheaper to buy things than it is to rent them indefinately. These items add convieniance to the Subscribers ("I don't have to buy all that stuff, or at least not do it all at once"), but actually increase the value of the Preferred status ("I make this one time purchase, and then while other people are still paying a subscription, I can spend that same amount of money on _____ instead.")

Then there are features that Subscribers get through their subscription that Preferred Customers have to rent. Escrow withdrawls, Weekly Flashpoints and Operations and Warzones, the Bonus XP so they can balance out with Rested XP. These are features which will require repeated purchases from Preferred Customers, and buying them a la carte will total up more than the cost of a monthly sub. These are features which increase value of the subscription by making the total package cheaper than what the Preferred players would pay for equal opportunity. And again, the more of this stuff they add to the game, the more appealling the subscription looks.

Lastly, there are features that are only provided via Cartel Market regardless of Subscription. These features, like cosmetic gears, Purchase-Required Expansions, Packs and Crates, toys, the Cathar unlock, and all the new Barbershop stuff, are exclusively available through the market and independant of subscription. The person who has more Cartel Coins will be able to afford more of this stuff, or can get the same amount but with significantly less "wait and save". These features in the game favor the players with the largest number of Cartel Coins, which means that the Preferred customer spending $15 on coins gets a better deal than the Subscriber who exclusively uses their stipend. These features are designed to cause Subscribers to make Cartel Purchases as well, because they want more than what their subscription gives them. To do that, these features decrease the total value of the Subscription Package. The more of this style of purchase they add, the less appealling subscription is and the more likely players are going to be to unsub. Not to quit the game, mind you, but just to use their money on the things that they want, instead of the default package given by the subscription.

Over the course of time, the subscription degrades. It costs the same amount of money for month 14 that it did for month 1. But once you've max-leveled your characters, rested xp doesn't matter anymore. Once you reach a certain gear threshhold, everything you need as an upgrade is based upon drops and commendations, so the cash cap starts to be less important. With Makeb providing higher level content for dailies, Section X becomes less relevant. And so on. Each time one of those features drifts into the realm of "rarely used", the subscription loses more of it's value. Unless new features are added for subscribers (either as exclusives or as things that Preferred have to pay for but subscribers get for free), the subscribers will eventually drift towards Preferred status and just spend that subscription money on Cartel Coins instead so they can actually get the stuff they want when they want it.

When new features increase the value of the Preferred Membership, even though it doesn't take away anything from the subscription, it still makes the subscription less appealling than the alternative. It's like coming to work and finding that half the employees were given a raise and you were not. And it is entirely fair an appropriate for Subscribers to voice their opinion that, if the subscription does not retain it's comparitive value, then they will drop their subscription and spend their money in another way.

    And J3sus wept ... /tear

You win, seriously ... utterly, totally, and completely the current state of affairs.

It all boils down to one simple question each individual must ask themselves ... Why should I continue to sub when half of what I want is not included in the subscription?

I currently run off game cards, $45 dollars for 2 months. For what i am actually taking advantage

of that is included in my subscription I would be better off ditching my sub and spending that money

strictly on coins ... then i could one time purchase what sub features i actually take advantage of

and the new stuff I actually want and save myself the recurring bi-monthly expense.

My subscription ends in 15 days ... time to do some analyzing and calculating. Subbing is

quickly becoming less valuable and less advantageous then "coining"

  11. Jumping to 2000 and then kicked from the game.....

    That

Every 20 to 30 minutes, happens every patch ... takes about a week to figure out how

the screwed $hit up this time and work around it.

  12. Personally I wish they had of taken the "Shadow" in a more Council of First Knowledge direction instead of forcing us into a sage story line ... shadows were DEFINATELY grey to boarderline dark, maybe on a light mission but definately not right in the head.

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Council_of_First_Knowledge

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jedi_Shadow

Dubbed Shadows, these Jedi became what their name suggests; shadows of themselves and the Jedi Order. Working in secrecy, the First Knowledge Council would hand pick the ranks of this task force and send its members to locales strong in the dark side of the Force, in hopes of vanquishing whatever artifact or dark side practitioner that may be causing the disturbance. Often engaged in information-gathering roles, Shadows were always sure to obtain all possible data on their target before making a decisive blow against them.

Due to their missions, Jedi Shadows were often noted for being loners with a black-and-white perception of the world around them. This could manifest itself as paranoia, wherein they saw signs of the dark side in everything—including their own comrades. As such, they were often deployed cautiously and only in times after a great conflict.

Shadows did not hesitate in their duty and were willing to betray those that they considered evil, but they often practiced restraint as they recognized that their definition of such foes did not always match those of the Council.

"Revenues were down 12% from last year to $130 million, of which a vast majority came from NCsoft's online titles. The company stated that it dipped into the red due to rising labor costs, an increased marketing budget for Blade & Soul's Korean launch, and the acquisition of Ntreev. Aion was also blamed for the company's financial woes, as revenues in that title sharply decreased due to fewer microtransaction sales."

  15. Legacy gear is useless. By the time you character has the level to use it, you pretty much have something that is already better.

Weapons especially, unmodable and outdated by the time you can use it.

If your playing an alt then you undoubtedly sent it stuff from a higher toon invalidating legacy

    gear before its even usable.

    Great idea, bad implementation.
