  1. I know a lot of pvp guilds are planning on transferring to the Bastion, but as I dont have 1800CC, I dont think I'll be moving anytime soon. I play a Merc healer in mostly augmented partisan/conqueror gear and I'm looking to find a group to pvp with/do rateds. I've never used mumble etc before but I have a mic and am willing to learn.
  2. Have you seen the new email previewing the new Archon's contraband pack? It totally shows your skimped Aspiring knight chest! I wonder if you're getting credit for designing that?
  3. I'm sure most of you have seen RedLetterMedia's reviews of the Prequel trilogy. Well here's a funny rebuttal of one of Mr. Plinket's points:
  4. I just posted an idea of a variant of Huttball in the suggestions forum: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6278331#post6278331 It's like a reverse Huttball, where you don't want to have the ball at the end of the match, similar to hot potato. The ball is a bomb, and the team possessing the bomb at the end of the time limit loses. One team starts with the bomb and has to bring it to the enemy's side to transfer it. What do you think?
  5. Here's a variant of Huttball/hot potato that I came up with. In this warzone, one team randomly has a bomb on their side of the arena. The bomb will explode in a set amount of time, say 15 minutes. The team with the bomb at the end loses. To prevent this, someone will need to take the bomb and try to bring it to the other team's side, like in Huttball. When this happens, the bomb is transferred to the enemy team, and is in their possession. If the bomb carrier is killed, the bomb returns to its origin. Since the team will have to move the bomb across the entire length of the arena, it might be better to make the distance between the two sides shorter than in Huttball. I do really like the vertical aspect of Huttball though, so I would like to see lots of ramps and bridges in the middle. Maybe the stage could be wider than it is long, like flipping the Huttball map on its side.
  6. Got it. That makes sense. Though it would be cool if the credits did help make the GTN better. Like if enough transactions occur, we will get improved features. Or if the Hutt controlling the GTN could be a world boss that we could kill and then get all that money.
  7. Since this is the only MMO i've ever played, I don't know if this is an original idea or not, but it's something I thought of that imo sounds engaging enough to keep players invested in the game. I would like to see frequent large scale events that pit the factions against each other, and the winner of the event dictates the continuation of the story. The general consensus around the leveling experience in TOR is that it is fun and entertaining. Players are motivated to keep progressing because they want to see what happens next in their classes' story. However, once you finish your class quests, the story ends. There is only the gear grind to keep you playing. I would like to see the creation of Server stories; stories that players help develop through the results of actions in-game. These would be continuous events that build upon the results of the previous events. Depending on which faction wins the event, the story would alter. For example, there could be an epic battle for control of Illum. The faction that manages to take over and destroy the other's spaceport would have complete control over the planet and the opposing faction would lose access to the planet. The winning planet could then have access to unique crystals. Maybe later on, there could be a new event where the losing faction would have to board a supply craft, sneak into Illum and try and take it back. There could be scavenger hunts like the Chevin event, but instead of being individual character stories, they would be server stories. For example, the Gree could offer unique technology to the faction that brings in the most hidden items during the time period. Not only would players have to hunt down these items all over the galaxy, they could kill the opposing faction players and steal their items, like a galaxy-wide game of Huttball. From this system, different servers could have different stories depending on the outcomes of the events. Players would want to keep playing to see what happens next, and would be more motivated to grind for better gear in order to do well in these events. It would allow for greater faction interaction and competitiveness, since there are now stakes involved. And the events could incorporate exploration, puzzle-solving, and pvp to appeal to all players.
  8. Why is there a service fee to use the GTN? Is this to make it more realistic? Where do those credits go - towards "maintenance" of the system or to some greedy Hutt that has a monopoly on trading?
  9. Finally made it to 50 and finished my class quest! http://i.imgur.com/GGIqD.jpg
  10. Finally got my main to 50! Only took me 7 months. http://i.imgur.com/GGIqD.jpg
  11. I tried this. I couldn't modify the weapon while it was unbound.
  12. Aww, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the reply. I really regret my shortsightedness now that I'm stuck with a low-level rakghoul crystal that I don't have a use for anymore. Oh well, lesson learned.
  13. Are there any moddable bound to legacy weapons? I would like to send some bound color crystals to an alt, but I haven't found any orange bound to legacy gear. The birthright and inheritance weapons aren't moddable.
  14. Thanks for the info. I also know Columi Sentinel eye masks also are hood compatible. I'll try to update this thread soon with pictures I've found.
  15. One thing that has annoyed me and many other Jedi players is the fact that you cannot wear both a mask/helmet and a hood. However, it seems Bioware is addressing this problem by introducing new headgear that doesn't clip and can be worn with hoods. This is great since I can now better create the characters from my imagination. What I would like to do is create a compilation of all the types of headgear that can be worn with hoods (preferably with photos and links to torhead) so that everyone knows what options are available to us. So far I know for sure that Sentinel-style headbands, googles, and Campaign Sorcerer masks all work. I believe I've seen an agent with a full mask and hood too. Can any Sith warriors tell me if the Malgus-style breathmasks work? If I'm missing something, please add it to the thread.
  16. OK, I'll admit you and a few more recent posts did get at his question; I just put that out in order to help refocus the discussion. But I still think that my point still stands. Mixing up different words isn't talking "informally;" it's just being ignorant.
  17. From what I've seen in-game and learned from the responses, I believe the answer is that most people struggled with learning the rules of grammar in elementary school and have painful memories of that time, and thus now enjoy the safety of the internet, where they can display their own ignorance in a consequence-free environment. Anyone who attempts to correct them hurts their self-esteem and is met with aggression. I know these instances are not simple typos but rather are real misunderstandings of English when I see repeated confusion over the different "its," "theres," and "wheres." This isn't nitpicking over little issues like forgetting to use commas or capitalizing "I," but rather a real ignorance around the meaning of these words. And I certainly wouldn't call mastery of these rules "elitism," since any 5th grader should know this stuff. Besides a lack of understanding grammar, the responses reveal a lack of reading comprehension. The OP wanted to find out the answer to a question that bothered him (or her?); namely why would educated people make exceptions to following the rules of grammar when playing a game, if they use proper grammar in every other situation. Nobody really responded to this, but instead immediately attacked him for being a "Grammar Nazi." Do people not read? I don't know the answer to the question, but perhaps people feel restricted by the rules of grammar and feel that the internet is a place where it is socially acceptable to not abide by these rules. And really, please stop with the TL;DR responses. Is it really so hard to read a post? If you have the time to hang around on a computer game forum, I'm sure you can take the time out of your fast-paced and busy life to at least skim the main points of a post.
  18. I chose the Polaris legacy. I had never envisioned that my characters would be family members, and so I tried to come up with an interesting way to connect them. I came up with the idea of a secret organization known as Polaris, made up of powerful individuals from both factions, who select rising leaders as champions. These champions are given special privileges and are told that they are unique individuals selected to lead the Republic/Empire to victory. However, the champions don't realize that they are pawns in a larger game in which the members of Polaris take bets on who will live and who will die.
  19. This is what I've been looking for all this time! I especially cant wait to see how armors appear differently for different factions. I'll see what I can do to contribute!
  20. Just saw this and have to say that it totally resonates with me. This makes so much more sense, and its sad that it seems to have gone over everyone's heads. I think this is still relevant post-1.2 and would help a lot in balancing the trees.
  21. If you're traveling vast distances, flying through hyperspace for hours, you would not want to be stuck in a ship like an x-wing. You would want to be able to walk around and stretch, go to the bathroom, eat something, or sleep. The ship is your home and should be comfortable for several people to live in. It is meant for safe and reliable transportation, not high maneuverability in battle. I like the size and personally appreciate the fact that it seems fairly close to scale, both outside and inside.
  22. What would people who weren't Light V or Dark V do then? Wouldn't everyone from 1-49 all be using orange and yellow lightsabers since everyone starts at neutral? Then you really wouldn't be able to tell factions apart.
  23. Kashyyyk, Yavin IV, Mandalore, Dagobah, Dantooine, Dathomir, Hapes, Endor, Naboo, Felucia, Mon Calamari
  24. So it seems that SWTOR's endgame content is too easy and too quickly completed? I see that endgame is important for the long-term health of the game, but I still don't understand why people would want to rush to get to the endgame? Is it more fun or do you just like having all your abilities? Because I've heard so much complaining about having nothing to do at endgame, I've been purposely playing through the game slowly, and despite having played since launch, have yet to get any characters to level 50. I keep making new alts to divert my attention, with the result of having two characters in the 40s and a new one at 16.
