Great idea for a poll Voted for APAC merge, as this gives us the best game play possible, and hopefully with a viable starting population it attracts more and more players back to the APAC single server. Having the APAC player base spread out on multiple servers, both Oceanic and West Coast US is part of the problem.

For the record I really enjoy this game. A story based MMO-RPG that actually lets me RP. It has a fantastic story, that you only get to experience its true scope when you have seen multiple Class stories and their companions stories. Beautifuly interwoven imo. That aside, the APAC server pop issue is one that has desperately needed attention for some time, more players = a better experience for all. More Flashpoints, more Heroic quests = more story, meeting new people etc. The need for a solution to the population issue is obvious. Many of us have stated that BW was waiting for F2P to see how that affected our populations. I for one am glad they have clarified their intentions to us in writing. Now we just have to wait and see how this solution works out and over what time frame. In summary its a great game, that currently Im not enjoying as much as I could because of a low population, I fully understand what Bioware is doing to fix this and yet at the same time my playing experience is currently less than it could be. I impatiently await the results of this solution. Entitled gamer you say? No, I just want what others are getting for the same money. Cheers

Now the question is how long till F2P hits and what will its impact on population be? More people on the server for sure...but more people in 50 pvp (especially rateds) and for Operations? Who knows? Its the returning player numbers that I really want to see. Regarding primarily level 50 content. F2P new player numbers not so big a deal. F2P returning players = huge deal. How many ex players will it bring back? I know of guilds with 150 members with 60 level 50's who currently are defunct, no one plays at all. If half of those people came back that would make a big difference. Further, if the population is still too weak after F2P, lets hope for an Oceanic server merge, I would like to keep my excellent ping.

This is just the first, hopefully of many, but I would like to focus on a small scale fight first. Ilum would take more work I think, but im happy to consider it in the future. This Cantina battle will be a Death match, others we can do as control points, take objectives, or even Capture the King type battles. Im hoping that this can be a weekly event if we get interest and can settle on a night and time. First step, lets get this Cantina battle done

A word on PVP communication. This is possibly the most vital contribution to effective PVP, even the most skilled and geared people will not do well without excellent communication. So a couple of tips first up. 1/ Make sure what you type is in the /ops channel! We all have done it..let our guild know that there is 5 at grass 2/ Type first, fight after, the sooner your team gets the info the sooner people can get to you, typing 2 seconds before you die is very very bad mmkay.. This is very important, type as soon as you know you have inbound, dont wait..do it now. 3/ Be as specific and detailed as you can. You should mention, where and how many at the least, other details like stealther present or has healer may be usefull as well. Also let your team know when the base or node is safe. 4/ Make sure you know your directions. Do you know which is is West and East? Grass vs Snow? Does your team use left/right out of the gate in Voidstar or does it prefer East/West doors? Which is which is unimportant as long as you all use the same names or understand what each means. Make sure its correct though, callling 4 right, when its 4 left on Voidstar can be disastrous. Examples of helpful statements. a/ Inc 2 Grass b/ West 5 plus.. c/ Stealther at Snow d/ South node clear. Examples of useless statements. a/ Help b/ 12312344441111`1233443121 c/ other door d/ inc The worst thing you can do SAYING NOTHING. Cheers

Hiya This is my first attempt at a community pvp event. Where? Nar Shadaa Club Ufora in the Red Light District Meeting at the Slippery Slopes Cantina on the Promenade 8pm sharp. Alternate location To be decided. When? To be decided. Style of PVP: 3 round Death match, no holds barred. Rewards: Cash, fun and pride. Total entrance fee's collected will be awarded to the best player of the night by group vote. Plus one surprise event What we need. 2 teams of 16 per side per match (I team for each faction) 2 referee's (1 Imp, 1 Pub) 1 community vent/TS channel for 32 plus players The rules. 1/ Do not target any Referee (marked with Blue shields) 2/ Wait till the battle is called to begin. 3/ Lowbies are welcome to watch but will be killed if they interfere. 4/ 10k credits entrance fee per toon. /5 No battle Rez. 6/ DEATHMATCH battle, so last toon standing wins for their faction. What I need? One Volunteer either Pub or Imp to be a Referee. The guild Leader or PVP leaders of our guilds to contact me about this and talk to their guildmates about it. I will be contacting the leaders of Midian, NIghtmare Council (great name btw), 419, Beyond Redemption, Ewokalypse Now etc to get an idea of interest and sort out a date and time. Anyone interested please post here. Also interesting areas to fight in that are open to both factions would be good to know. Some other servers are for instance having battles for bridges on Hoth etc.

44 198 views 754 posts Still no definitive answer. Still no update on what is being done to fix this dire issue for people on the APAC servers. Gav Daragon is Dead and buried. Master Dar'Nala is dead. Dalborra is the pick of the bunch its just on freaking life support. Some choice. Many us us dont want to re-roll yet again and loose our hard won legacy. We need to know Bioware, what are your plans to fix this issue? Paid transfers? Free Transfers? Server merges into one Oceanic super server? Server merges onto US West coast realms? Wait till F2P hits and cross your fingers? Please we need some communication on this issue.

Indeed a great post. I feel the same way Nerdrage, I would really like to stick together with the great people I have played with on Master D. Speaking to Chieftain the other day about his experiences on The Bastion, he noticed the latency in PVP quite a bit, I have had the same experience. Perhaps its something you get used to, but for both of us it was severe enough that we both questioned serious competitive pvp with that kind of latency. My vote would be Dalborra or The Harbinger (pop beats The Bastion easily). The idea of a mass re-roll to Dalborra is fantastic and I would love it if that happened. I do ackowledge though the fear that the APAC servers may well die off entirely and to be in the same boat again in 6-12 months would be terrible. To answer your question for better or worse Ill be going to Dalborra or whatever the single Oceanic server will be called. Unless there is a consensus about a single target server in which case I'll go with the flow.

With all due respect the Midian thing is not their fault nor yours or mine, its purely and simply a population issue. Midian have every right to que on any toon they choose as does everyone else. Ideally there would be 50-60 plus people queing for pvp each night, such that you would not really get hit by the Midian express train very much at all, but when you did, you would get exactly what alot of people are asking for from Midian, advice on how to play. Of course Midian hands out advice in the best pvp way possible...by smashing faces in. I agree with this approach, you get to hate them, fear them, despise them and then finally admire and aspire to beat them. Its just that with a tiny population of pvpers atm, you run into Midian (if they are queing, I hear they are doing a fair amount of PVE recently) far more than you would on a decently populated server. I dont expect Midian to hold anyones hand, nor do I expect any quarter from the at all,ever. I do of course understand that people in recruit gear who are new to pvp have a shocking experience, if they get Midian 4 man or even 8 man groups over and over and over. But this is Biowares fault, not Midian's. Think of it this way. You log on to play with your mates, smash out the daily HM FP, while joking around on Mumble, then someone says "hey lets rack for PVP", everyone goes "yeah great lets do it".. ooopps hold on, we are not allowed to rack as a group of mates, becacause of xyz issue... How is this fair to them? It would be great to have a solution to this issue but the only real solution that does not disenfranchise some players is a bigger population. My friendly advice, direct your anger or frustration where it belongs', at Bioware. Pax

Here are some useful links about pvp, some are not totally up to date but its a good place to start. General SWOTR pvp http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=451701 Huttball guide http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=54647 Resolve guide http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=61363 Personal tips. 1/ Pay attention 2/ Follow instructions but use your brains 3/ Stay on the freaking node and dont chase kills. 4/ Ignore trolls 5/ Always try and get better, closely watch others to help you learn. 6/ Always have appropriate gear (minimum full recruit) 7/ Have fun 8/ Communication is key Addendum: If your unsure about what to do in each match, there is a written explanation of each map n the pvp pane that you can scroll through, otherwise Google is helpful.

I think this is a legitimate concern. I do not agree with calling people out about gear, or pvp knowledge or anything like that it is just BS. On your part try to listen to any instructions that are given, ignore the trolling and pay attention. The community is too small for elitist BS, we dont need to be driving players away.

What particularly do you want help with? Merges etc there is no word on, Server pop for Oceanic players is too spread out, leading to low population issues. My suggestion is play what you love..but make sure to get in a populated friendly guild. Ranked PVP is non existant at this time sadly. Many people are hoping that free to play will bring back more players which will improve the pop issue. Though personally I am finding many people such as yourself coming back from other games, its better than the trolls want to let on imo. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Cheers
