  1. Dear all, Ilum is supposed to be a planet rich in crystals, I'd like to see players being able to harvest crystals in the pvp area. How does it work: Crystal nodes randomly appear on Ilum, pvp area. Republic and imperial players can build a crystal harvester on the node. The crystal harvester will reward its owner with crystals until the node is depleted and has a built-in weapon that attacks players from the opposite faction. Crystal harvesters are sold by NPC's (optional: an improved version might be built via crew skills) Crystal harvesters are modular: multiple players can assemble their harvesters on one node, for a maximum of 8 harvesters assembled on the same node. If all the crystal nodes on the map are being harvested, a new node appears in a new random location after a few minutes; this adapts the map for highly populated servers (more crystals) and keeps low population server with usually only one or two nodes open. Why does it add a fun, pvp component to Ilum and the game: It gives a sense of purpose to the Ilum pvp area (gathering armaments randomly appearing on the ice does not strike me as an exciting activity). It adapts to the server population: more players? More nodes! More imperial players than republic players? Imperial players will control 6 nodes, republic 1 node, each player has a chance to gather resources as long as they are in an organized group. It uses the entire map instead of just the central area and it creates interesting pvp situations, e.g. : two or more nodes appear in a cluster and a faction creates a bigger group to control the entire cluster AFK player can not take advantage of the system since they will most likely be attacked because of the competition and the nodes give a limited amount of crystals before depletion. The fact that the harvester has a weapon to defend itself adds an interesting mechanic since the defending players have a slight tactical advantage. Optional: Controlling one of the areas (northern/southern/central) gives that faction one or more elite mechanized units that roam the map attacking players of the opposite faction. (Instead of having those mechanized units sitting there and shooting blanks all day long). A mechanized unit spawns every 10 minutes from each controlled area.
  2. Agreed. A guy right in front of you is capping a node, you have 8 secs to stop him: *tab* : you target someone semi-afk 40m away *tab* : you target another toon that just passed by and died *tab* : a third random dude You: *rage* > *tab* *tab* *tab* *tab*: In order, guy capping the node (doh, too late, you already tabbed again due to rage), cat in the living room, semi-afk guy's pet, the third random dude mentioned above. Guy in front of you capped, you are chewing on your keyboard. Bioware: please save a keyboard, make tab targeting smarter.
  3. Mmm see this is one of those really misleading posts. You are assuming that your opponent is afk and sitting in front of you. What? What kind of spinning kick did you get on your toon? Are you hackin the game? Spinning kick lasts 2 secs, by the time you are done with the second CS they are already standing up. No way you are using 2XCS, popping buffs, and using project in just 2 secs. Are we playing the same game? You "hit" Shadow strike? Just like that? No stun? I do not know on your server, but on mine my pvp targets are always spasmodically trying to circle around me. I often manage to sneak behind them, but even then 1 time out of 3 Shadow Strikes won't work, the animation starts, but nothing happens because the pvp lag/delay will mess with it. The reality is that I manage to do (almost) all of the above if the target does not know how to pvp, but when I am against a good pvper, with good gear, no way things go that smooth: 1. An operative that hits your first from cloak (unless your resolve bar is already full) will take you apart in a few secs. 2. A good healer will often withstand your initial damage burst and now you are in deep trouble. In a typical WZ situation someone will be guarding the healer and, face it, if you face a healer/tank pair in pvp they will both laugh at your "bursting damage" and make confetti out of you (take another shadow with you to make it a more fair a 2 vs 2: still confetti) 3. A good tank with that ridiculous 99% shield ability (I do not remember the skill name) will mess with your spinning strike that will crit for a whopping 8 dmg, vanish, come back after 3 secs and finish you. Is it just me or anyone else here is fighting again players that actually do something? Am I the only one that does not fit 5 skills in 2 seconds? Am I the only one that can not just "hit" shadow strike at will on a pvp target? If yes let me know because maybe my client is bugged and I have to reinstall something.
  4. It looks like I am stuck with the "A time to reflect" mission. It says to return to the Republic fleet (which I did) but once I am there nothing happens. I am level 33. Do I have simply have to wait? Does it matter that I used the fleet pass instead of my ship to reach the republic fleet?
  5. Oh noes! I will never be able to have the number one guild now! I can not name my toon "solo"! I skipped skool and now I can not play SWTOR! My friend Kenny got to play before I did and that is so not fair: he will always be 3 levels ahead of me! Mooooom could you please call Bioware and tell them they ruined my life?
  6. I like MMORPG’s because they give me a way to leave reality for a few hours after work and immerse myself in a totally different place; that is why I pre-ordered SWTOR. There is only one problem with multiplayer games: the players, or, let me rephrase, those that call themselves “gamers” (they think that gaming is actually a profession). There are 4 types of “gamer”, they all manage to ruin the fun in a MMORPG: Type 1. The power leveler. Power levelers skip cut-scenes, do not try crafting and do not care about the game story because that would cause them to reach the max level in the game in 80 hours instead of 50. They are the ones whining in despair today because there is someone in the server right now leveling and they are not. They will have nightmares tonight, where who is already in the game found an exploit and is leveling faster than they ever will. When, tomorrow, they will get to level (they do not “play”; they “level”) they will risk a stroke seeing a toon higher in level than them. But the power leveler recovers quickly; his character named “dshjadbsgdfsgh” (finding an available name is a waste of time) will manage to get to level 30 in a few hours if they properly dehydrate themselves (no restroom break). Damage done to the game: The power leveler gets to experience about 10% of the game that the developer put together trough years of hard work. They also spend most of their time online (after reaching the level cap) bragging about how fast they got there and will call anything that moves “nOOb”. Type 2. The High Tech D**che (HTD). The HTD owns a low latency, double beam, lazors, naga, skywalker, mouse/keyboard that allows him to activate his toon skills 12 ns before you do. He has a few dozen mods installed (when possible)and any other piece of software that might give them the slightest in-game performance edge. Damage done: do not even think about being in a HTD party without first spending a few hours installing and updating your software. You are otherwise the clear reason why the party is failing at whatever they are doing. The HTD won’t hesitate to insult you: “Go install ventrilo, team speak, skype, google talk, healz2005, tankalot3.5 and gizmo5 this instant or I’ll kick you! NOOb” Type 3. The Ant Bully (AB). The AB thrives on pvp servers. He does not actually like playing player versus player; he simply gets erections while ganking the lowest possible level he can find. The AB will also abundantly use his character animations (dance and kisses for best arousal) in the attempt to humiliate the victim, even better if it is possible to camp the newbie. Damage done: this is why for the first time I will pick a pve server. I love pvp, love the idea of being able to fight the opposite faction and having that extra adrenaline while exploring the environment. However, having to waste hours of my time just to let some D**che have erections is just not fun. Do not tell me to l2p; the AB is a social creature and will party with other AB’s to make pvp as unfair and as un-fun as possible. Type 4. The lowest possible “gamer” species, the bottom dweller Cheater and his advanced twin: the Botter. The cheater/botter likes to use any possible cheat/bot available online, buy in-game currency and pre-leveled toons from the “grey” market. He does not even really play or like the game. Note: the AB cheater is a toxic combo. Damage done: Immense. The botter will tear the economy of a MMORPG apart. When you manage to find an extremely rare loot and you are salivating at the idea of the massive in-game currency you’ll get by selling it… you’ll discover that you item is worth absolutely nothing because someone is selling 200 of those and already flooded the market. A botter will tell you that they are doing you a favor, because you can buy stuff for cheap, they have the lowest IQ of all the “gamers” and have no concept of rarity, economy or demand/offer equilibrium. Make no mistake, not all botters are Chinese real money traders; google “MMOglider” if you do not believe me. Botters and cheaters also severely damage economically game developers, countless hours are wasted in customer service, security software and security development. This is why you had to answer 5 questions just to play the game. Conclusion: I am a casual player aka noob. EA, could I please have a “casual player only” server where it is forbidden to be online for more than 4 hours per day? Please? I’ll pay twice as much!
  7. Tiggles: you are right. "Fist of The Empire" is just so priapus perfect, I am calling this instant my boss, quitting my job, and joining your guild.
