  1. Hmm. That's interesting.

I'd say pretty much the same thing if a patch contained only PvP stuff. You see, I don't play PvP at all.

Yet I realize that there are people who do play that style of game and the game needs to serve them too.

So patches can go out that support other play styles. I mean, heck, I just got a nice patch not too long ago for the play style -I- want. And it looks like there's another interesting patch coming up in a short while that will have more stuff that I want.

So, yeah, this one patch here in the middle didn't really float my boat.

But since I'm incapable of remembering the recent past or imagining the future based upon information delivered by the communication team here, I guess the game's going to crash and burn now and I'll ragequit or something.

Preach on, good sir. Preach on.

  2. "Would it make sense to" being the imperative phrase, there. ;) I've worked retail, too. I know how some people can be.

I'll see your retail and raise you having worked for county government nigh on twenty years ago. You wanna talk about whining, moaning and feeling entitled? Oy freaking vey! The stories I could tell if this weren't a semi-public venue.

The times I wanted to shout "No, you moron! We're not conspiring against you! Who the hell are you, anyway?" *shakes head* So glad I'm in the private sector now.

  3. Forget that.

Space Nazi Wizards, that I can deal with. Mimes? That's crossing the line.

I don't know, Instead of some of those missions where we have to defuse landmines, it might be amusing to see a mission where we have to dispose of anti-personnel mimes, instead.

A mime is a terrible thing to waste, after all. :D

  4. Here's my view on things, and it's a simplistic one at that. (But then, I'm a simple - and simple-minded - kinda guy. ;) ) If the dye modules I have available to me via my Artificer, the CE vendor and - I think, though I could be wrong - the VIP vendor make me smile or giggle when I preview them, then I'm gonna use them. Don't matter if it means putting my Sentinel in Lime Green or my Juggernaut in Neon Pink. What makes me smile is getting used.
  5. So I was thinking recently about what I'd really like to see in the game and came up with a few minor things that I'd like to toss out as suggestions.

    1. A way to change the background lighting in the preview box in order to alter/eliminate some of the shadows that make it difficult to get a good view of what you're previewing.
    2. Either an automatic highlighting of the armor piece/weapon you're trying to preview or a button that says "Highlight previewed item." This is something I particularly want for when I'm trying to preview bracer drops because I have no idea where to look for them. I think they're located somewhere around the glove area, but I have no idea where so a highlighting feature would really come in handy for me.

I would also like more in the way of character customization. More hairstyles, more hair colors, more face options, piercings (ear, nose, etc.), so forth and so on. Basically, extra ways that I could make my character more specifically MINE. I think that this kind of thing really helps players form attachments to their characters and, therefore, to the game. Armor dyes have been mentioned by other people in other threads and I'll take the opportunity here to agree with them. The games I've spent the most time in over the years have been Ultima Online and CoH. One had armor dying tubs and the other just had mad, epic customization and the ability to independently color every part of what your character wore. Again, it helps players to get more attached to their characters if the characters look exactly the way we want them to look and the more attached we are to our characters, the more attached we are to the game.

Finally, and this is an I-might-be-the-only-person-in-the-game-who-wants-this kind of thing, I would like crafting schematics for different styles of lightsabers. Allow me, if you will, to explain. Right now, the only empty sabers an Artificer can create as he-or-she levels up the skill are the Custom Lightsaber and the Custom Double-Bladed Lightsaber. (Somewhere around max crafting level, you get the Elegant versions of those as well as some pre-loaded blades but it's a long way off after you get the basic Custom schematics.) As replacements for what you get on Tython or Korriban, they're not bad but, well, they're not all that good-looking. It occurs to me that, surely, at some point over the millennia there must have been Jedi or Sith that had an artistic flair which would have shone through when they designed their lightsabers. I would like to see schematic drops that reflect this. I would like my Sith to carry something that radiates menace and my Jedi to carry something with a certain swashbuckling panache. And I would like to be able to make them myself. I'm probably the only one weird enough to want something like this but, hey, I'll put it out there anyway.

  6. Howdy!

A couple of months ago I played GW2 for a couple of weeks. Although I don't enjoy most of that game, one of its best features that was fantastic and hugely popular is armor dyes. There, it's extremely well implemented and it was a big eye-opener to see just how much player creativity can be unleashed by a seemingly simple feature.

One of SWTOR's main weaknesses is a lack of armor choices that players enjoy, and restrictive appearance customization through armor. Eliminating class and faction restrictions on armor (as suggested by other posts) would help slightly with this problem. Armor dyes would take this giant leap forward and completely transform SWTOR's weakness in to a major strength.

    Here's the idea:

    • Armor dyes not only define colors like Cyan, Ebony, and Antique White, but also 'surface shaders' -- the way light reflects off of a surface. So, for example, one dye could be a matte yellow, while another dye is the same shade of yellow, but applies a shiny, metallic yellow to the surface.

    • There are hundreds of dyes, and they are ranked in the same way as gear: Common (White), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue) and Epic (Purple).

    • Dyes are learned on a per-character basis. Once learned, any piece of armor can be brought up in a simple editor where the library of known dyes is displayed. Each piece of armor then has 1-4 'coloring regions' that a dye can be applied to. Armor can be re-dyed as many times as you like.

    • The primary source for dyes in the real money marketplace. There, you purchase a dye pack which, when opened, gives you a random set of dyes with a guaranteed number of dyes in each of the Common, Uncommon, etc. categories, and a chance for an epic dye. The dyes can then either be learned by the character -or- sold on the auction house.

I hope that there's so much enthusiasm for this feature that a ton of people request it, and then Bioware prioritizes its implementation. Armor dyes will give SWTOR a major competitive advantage amongst the MMOs that are available.

I support this wholeheartedly. Coming from the late, lamented (at least by me) CoH, character customization is something I consider vital to my online gaming experience. I would love to see a system along the lines of this. Some of my characters would go for a gaudy, almost foppish look to cause their enemies to underestimate them. Some would go for a more understated look. But absolutely every single one of my characters would use this in one form or another.

  7. Paragons (Republic-side) and Shadow Supremacy (Imperial-side) are guilds formed by City of Heroes refugees from the Triumph-based supergroup Fusion Force. We are a group of mature, fun, peaceful and drama-free players looking to provide a sanctuary for others fleeing the destruction of our former home in Paragon City and a home to any others who want to spend their gaming time with friendly people. At this point in time, we’re a leveling guild focused mostly on class- and world-quest PvE with the occasional Flashpoint in the mix. As we grow here in TOR, I’m sure we’ll add Operations to that list as well.

Our guild philosophy can be summed up with the Golden Rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We treat everyone we encounter with politeness, kindness and respect and expect those who want to join our guild to behave in the same way.

(On a personal note, I prefer to use Bill and Ted’s restatement of that philosophy: “Be excellent to each other.”)

If you’re interested in joining us, please visit our website at: http://www.fusionforce.us. Once there, you can register for the site and post an introductory note on our forum.

Whether you’re a fellow CoH veteran now living in a galaxy far, far away or whether TOR is your first MMO or anything in-between, we hope you’ll find your home with us in Paragons and Shadow Supremacy.

  8. Your servers economy may be very active but I for one on Europe Dxun Battle Circle find my economy to be a little empty/ dry.

A Cross Server GTN may bring thousands possibly millions of results but this would drive it upwards! Everyone in this MMO wants something to make there Star Wars Legacy as authentic and as real to them as possible! And a lot of the stuff required to do this is through methods which some players may not have time for like an operation or large flashpoint for example. So the option is if you have the credits, then you can go to the (Cross Server) Galactic Trade Network and pick up a bargain or simply what your looking for, or the tools and requirements to make what your looking for.

I've been seeking a Purple Lightsaber Crystal for a while and I've heard there's a few of them for sale or there schematics on the GTN, but I don't have them on my server which is a little sad :( So this to me means I have a very good chance of getting what I was looking for rather than a very low chance!

To have a Cross Server Galactic trade Network would be great and from what i can tell doesnt have any disadvantages. However I d like to hear them if there are any.

After 8 years in CoH, whose "auction house" has always been cross-server, I'm inclined to agree with you. In my personal opinion, being able to sell to anyone and buy from anyone makes the overall game economy a lot healthier than it would otherwise be. I'd also like to get rid of the two-day limit on the listings. If I put something up for sale, I'd like for it to stay up for sale until either someone buys it or I decide to take it off and see if I can sell it for a lower price.
