  1. pretty much there should be a decent grace period ~10 mins is more than enough to do anything after disconnects (ie restart router etc). Waiting 1 and 1/2 hours to even get into a server to dc later for what I'm sure will be a 2+ hour wait now is not acceptable. It's an mmo launch there's no avoiding wait times I'm used to that but this problem itself (getting kicked and having to wait again) is not new and I'd have thought bioware would've seen this in other games and made it a non-issue from the beginning.
  2. been waiting 2 hours 20 mins so far to get into the harbringer
  3. This is where it becomes the biggest problem. They need to institute a grace period like rift did where you have x minutes to log back in or you lose your place in line so people who freeze don't hvae to spend another 1+ in queue
  4. It's cool I don't hardly know what I'm even typing since it's 3 am. We will have some kind of parser for people like us who really want to push our characters to the max. I think some people don't understand that fun for some of us who don't have alot of time is that when we do get on we want to get things done and not spend all night wiping on the first boss of a flashpoint. I know some people who actually enjoy the latter too and that's ok people just need to find like minded players. I hope on my server I run into people with your attitude on getting stuff done so I can enjoy the limited play time I'll have especially with a baby coming in 2 weeks I won't have the time to carry bad players through flashpoints.
  5. actually? none. I think you missed the post where I said I atleast want parsers (ie combat log returned) so that I can max my class. I guess i misread too you made it seem like ej didn't need parsers math is good and they had the formulas but they still needed the raw data to plug in and yes I do realize this about ej that's another reason I want a parser so people who can get on all day can post guides similar to those on ej.
  6. It must be nice to be able to sit on a game all day and do nothing but crunch numbers. I guess the people who played my classes in ej were bad b/c they all used parsers
  7. Actually the post I was replying to said "add ons in general" as well. As far as only recount someone already said it. When devs create content and set timers they have their own outgoing dps for the raid in mind. When you have damage meters you have people maximizing to the +5dps or less which is a majority of the time quite higher than the devs would've put the bosses health at.
  8. I know wow devs said many times before they had to keep in mind what addons people were using when creating new content. Hitting one button over a name on heal bot is faster that selecting a person and clicking the spell you want to cast even if by a very small margin. Planning the game around the players not using healbot (or any heal add on that sped up reaction time) would make it no challenge at all for those who did use that add on. I'd rather them make the game the way they want and not around add ons but the only add ons I'd rather not see are any boss mods, threat meters but if they get added I'll cope and deal with it.
  9. Once it's in there will be a parser and that's all I really want. I enjoy testing different things to try to max my own character out. I really don't care about in game threat meters, dps meters, mostly more ui customization but bioware can do that on their own w/o addons.
  10. how so? someones going to hack into my computer and run the program for themselves to get a key. I'm familiar with key loggers but can't say I've ever read about someone having this happen to them.
  11. I like the idea of having the security key on my phone but I was wondering incase my phone were to break is there a way to virtually back it up on my desktop so I could access the apps and still get a code on my pc instead of having ot call customer service to explain my phone died so I can't logon to my account anymore?
  12. These are the people who really got screwed over but I'd think that you would be pissed at the idiot retailers and use someone else next time or am I wrong?
  13. Why does everyone still think early access at all is so special and amazing? I played aoc/aion/war/rift/psu/ffxiv and early access is standard for mmos now it's not some treat that only a few offer. Like I said in the other post the standard I'm used to is around 3 days which we will all most likely end up with. They did however say UP TO 5 DAYS as many have pointed out and if you decided to ASSUME that there's no way it could only be one day that's your fault not theirs. Believe it or not this happens in the real world too and if you just assume something won't be at the bottom that's your fault. My dsl internet is up to 5mbps dl speed according to their advertising. Using the logic in this forum I should be getting 3+ mbps atleast however my true dl speed is around 500-600kbps. It's simple if you're too unhappy because up to 5 days really meant 3+ to you and you don't get that then you can cancel your preorder or just deal with it. I can understand some people wanting to vent frustrations but the amount of threads of rage seems a bit overdone. Also I'm going to attribute biowares and I will say games for the next few years smooth launches will happen all because of ffxiv. I really think ffxiv is the worst launch in mmo history and after seeing how well it worked out for them developers seem to be taking a little longer to put their games out. It could just be coincidence but it seems like pre ffxiv all games released in a pretty bad state but since that w/e you'd call it (b/c mmo would be too big a compliment) it seems games are slowing down on speed releasing.
  14. Just because we don't have 24/7 to be hardcore now doesn't mean we haven't been there more than long enough to be able to reply to your thread believe it or not. It's pretty simple this tier doesn't mean ****. There's no equal footing for the hardcore guilds at all and it's been cleared already. You could essentially have a ranking for nightmare modes but even then people who got in early have the advantage. Next tier (and hopefully by then we have actual server forums) make an official thread, use ss to verify like we used to before achievements ever existed and montior it among the hardcore community. I never had any issues when the guilds I was in did it this way and for the most part this let the hardcore people have their server first and the casuals left them the hell alone in their own thread. Edit: I also never understood why the casuals get so pissy about hardcore people doing what they enjoy in a game they pay the same money for. If they want to compete among eachother who really cares. If some of them are *********s and simply must spout how amazing they are in a video game and tell you how bad you are for not being hardcore you can just assume they have a ****** life and feel bad for them. For the most part though the hardcore players I've played with are ******* and only care about their competition with other hardcore guilds, not rubbing it in everyone elses face.
  15. I wouldn't worry about that they still plan on inviting so even if they do have maint I doubt it'd be 24 hours.
  16. Pretty much. I've been following this game for a long time as well so I love posters who tell us and apparently know how long we've been following/waiting for the game. I could've put $5 and probably would have and cancelled had I known that it alone would've gotten me a preorder code but I don't like hard copies when I can order online and the only $5 wasn't an option on there. Also I don't really like star wars so I really didn't want to preorder when I didn't think I'd even enjoy the game. After playing beta what I thought was just another wow clone turned out to be a pretty amazing game so I saved up the $80 and was able to preorder dec 2nd. I'm not complaining however I guess most people don't understand first come first serve anymore even though that's how it works in the real world. I don't agree/like the way bioware handled this at all but no point in ************ it's how they are doing it and it's not gonna change because the forums light up with tears. I do disagree that early start is not deserved though from all the launches I've played the last 4 years it's been standard for preorders however, it always seems to be 2-3 days and with swtor I'll be getting atleast that and possibly 4 so I'm pretty excited at that.
  17. I'll be honest I've never been into roleplaying in the slightest or understood it but I played on landroval in lotro so I know how important features like that are for people who enjoy rp so I'll join you on the part that it should be a little more important than just dead bottom (however I'd rather see guild ships above a barber). Something I didn't see mentioned yet though is that wherever anything is currently on biowares list there's no real timeline so we can't say how far away the bottom really is. It's safe to assume it means that it won't come next week for sure but it might not mean that it's 2 years down the road. From dev posts I've read it seems that content is the top priority as it should be and they have multiple teams working on their own projects I'd be all for putting 2 guys on this feature so that it gets implemented to keep rp/non-rp who want it happy. However I'm not big on half assing things and would much rather them take time to add in tatoos, scars, new hairstyles/facial features however would those of you who are really adamant about this be happy with just an npc that lets you cycle through the current available hairstyles for now so they can add others in down the road? Also I wonder what this would really take I know enough about programming that there's no such thing as just throwing in an npc and its gtg but maybe someone who does this stuff for a living could actually answer what it really entails to add in a barber npc to say just main areas for both sides.
  18. You sure can I can be a doctor, astronaut, w/e i want and it doesn't mean it's true however when stephen reid posts on these forums I'm going to go ahead and assume that it is him and the information he's posting is accurate. If you choose to put on the tinfoil hat and not believe anything he says have fun.
  19. You need to check out developer quotes before posting. Stephen reid specifically said some of the highest volume of pre orders they got was the very first day/early on so that today they wouldn't get very far. He also said that after that initial burst the months somewhat balanced out and were about the same. I expect them to let more people in each day than the previous so I'm sure us december people will be playing by thursday night. If not by then I'll actually be pretty annoyed but nothing foaming at the mouth will fix so no point. If this is the worst launch it must be the only one you've ever been at. Let's go back AoC, War, and what I think was the worst of all time regardless of other posts FFXIV. I don't think any game has released worse than ff14 and doubt many could or would argue that.
  20. zomg your friends playing mistakes happen believe it or not humans do make mistakes. Would I much rather be playing now since i'm gone in 2 weeks for a few days due to my wife giving birth? OFCOURSE I WOULD! But they've made it clear for a long time it was starggered and if you didn't pay attention to the announcements that's your fault not theirs. Tell a cop next time he pulls you over that you didn't see that speed limit sign so he surely can't give a ticket for something you didn't know about. In all seriousness try to relax, it sucks that you may have gotten the short end of the stick by some mistake but it's not like someone switched out arsenic for your coffee creamer you will survive
