I would suggest buying things that you know you'll be receiving, i.e. the armours, account unlocks, mounts, weapons...etc Would avoid the packs as I find their RNG for drops very poor. A new favourite I have is getting the pack for random 'toys', that has a lot of great emotes I can use for the lulz .

This is poop, can't even try 2.0 with my Commando, keeps failing on the transfer. Still haven't addressed us being less useful than Vanguard in assault spec, we're a little better on the healing spec side and gunnery is still lacking proper direction on our role (still no immune to interrupt skill if we're supposed to be a 'turret').

We had the same issue on The Progenitor with Empire outnumbering the Republic. Generally speaking the Empire had a few well organised guilds running premades consistently burning through Republic PUG's. Republic did not have enough veterans left to do the similar especially since one of the top Republic clans was an Empire alt clan lol. Things since then have evened out a little more but I think this is a big failure of BW to mix PUG with Premade. Generally this game has little thought/experience being shown in the layout of their pvp systems.

Rifle is viable with any tree, slightly less overall damage when assault spec but assault spec is more geared towards vanguards anyway. If you tend to go assault then start a new vanguard alt if you have time.

Rifle is still viable, just less min/maxing. People still focus me because they know the damage I can unleash and if I'm in a good team that heals me (PUG in this case) then I'm absolutely fine. I'll screenshot my char later, I switch between canon and rifle now and again.

I'm at pvp rank 75 and mostly use EWH and some WH gear but have taken long breaks from STOR but each time I play again it's on my Commando, absolutely love it. DPS is good with varying levels of sustained, aoe and burst depending on your build but utility for survival and defensive skills are lacking which makes the class squishy. Also its shared tree with vanguards favours vanguards so Commando's running as Assault spec are not as good as vanguards. I would say, if you like the look and feel of the play style then go for it, pre-50 is a blast and we have 2.0 around the corner and at the end of the day better understanding a class only benefits your pvp play.

If you intend to pvp at all I suggest Sage. I play a commando personally.
