  1. No, I'm not assuming anything. If they had left High-res in, people who used it would crash in high pop areas like the Fleet (BW has the metrics... it's not an assumption).

So, one of two things would have happened:

    1) They would ***** about crashing and having to re-queue.

    2) They would ***** about having to turn off High res in order to avoid crashing.

It would be no different than it is now, except that thousands of people would have been even more pissed off because they were crashing (losing game-time) and having to re-queue.

So yes, it was better that they disabled it from every possible angle. As I already stated, it was a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario, and the path they took was less damaging and had the least negative consequences.

    Do you understand yet?

It would be better if they fixed these issues before release.

It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario because they f'd up, not because we're unreasonable customers.

If, within the first 5 threads, they would have been honest and forthcoming about what happened, and committed to fixing it... They wouldn't have been so 'damned'. Heck, I'll even take honesty and commitment now. But instead we get explanations about ui bugs and carefully chosen words about fidelity.

    They've damned themselves.

    Do YOU understand?

  2. Honestly? You may notice them sometimes, but it's not like they're screaming your face while you're playing the game. They don't make it harder for you to play, they're pure aesthetics. But like I said, even though I personally don't think it's worth quitting over, feel free to do it if you wish, best of luck to you.

If you order a new Lexus, but it shows up with a terrible paint job, you're not going to just say "well, I don't actually get to see the paint while I'm driving anyway, so it would be shallow to reject the car." You know you'd reject the car, despite the fact that it's against the spirit of the same logic you're using for this issue.

Aesthetics matter in videogames, to a lot of people. Especially people who spent a lot of money on their PC components. Especially in a game of which's major selling point is immersion, which is reduced by seeing development's technological failure when you look at your character.

You may be fine with it, but I, and many other are not. Continually calling us 'shallow', wont change that, even if it was an objective statement, which it is not.

  3. Uh, son, I've been playing MMOs since 2000. I've seen the launch of probably a dozen MMOs, I've spent thousands of dollars on F2P and P2P MMOs, and I've probably been max level in more MMOs than most people have heard of, I AM an avid gamer. You may be more experienced at MMOs than me, that's unimportant as I'm more experienced than the overwhelmingly vast majority of gamers. I've been a faction leader (12sky2, LongHaoKan faction leader of the Guans), the highest level in a game (was also the strongest person in it, by far, LOA), I've done 16 hour+ grinds (Rappelz, 12sky2, Cabal), I've been in the top guilds of entire games (LOA Avalon, 12sky2) as well as top guild on servers (BSGO ReB on Caprica prior to their fall from glory, Rappelz HnK on Bahamut, 12sky2 Die4honor on Devotion, GodzAmongMien in Warrock)

As such, I know that the fact is while you're fighting something you're not staring at your body thinking "wow, these graphics aren't very hi res". You're a bit more busy with, I don't know, managing your skills, observing your opponent? So unless you play all the way zoomed in, and don't focus on the fight at all and are instead focusing on your characters looks, my point still stands. While you're actually playing (fighting, dialogue, etc.) you're not going to notice the textures.

wall of text translated- 'I can piss farther than you'

  4. I'm so glad this celebrity decided to chime in. Thanks for letting us know. Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you, as they say.

Seriously, if you folks obsess over character graphics, you're losing sight of the big picture. Do you play zoomed in nearly all the way, and do you focus on the sharpness of the Sith Inquisitor's chest texture when you're carrying a Huttball to the goal, and two guys are doing their darnedest to slow you/kill you?

Because if that is a concern for you in a game like this... where you should be playing at a decent zoom-out to see the action around you... and FP/Ops/PVP action abounds... well, I feel bad for you. You either haven't played many MMOs, or your priorities are severely messed up.

Power windows don't make or break a car either, but if you order 2012 luxury car that shows up with with manual windows, you're still gonna say 'w t f fix it now'.

  5. To be able to move AND resize them would go a long way. They could have easily implemented this into the UI naively like RIFT did. Well, maybe not 'easily', but they could have, and should have.
