Meh people dismiss it as graphic snobs being graphic snobs, which isn't the case, the textures aren't graphic snob bad, they're just bad, plain and simple.
I have to agree. This issue has been an epic technical failure, and an even worse public relations failure.

Secret World, as I understand it, will not have levels, but you will have to obtain skills.

See this article: Why Virtual Worlds are Designed by Newbies - No Really!
"The result is that virtual world design follows a downward path of not-quite-good-enough"
^Sums up my feelings completely.

Honestly? You may notice them sometimes, but it's not like they're screaming your face while you're playing the game. They don't make it harder for you to play, they're pure aesthetics. But like I said, even though I personally don't think it's worth quitting over, feel free to do it if you wish, best of luck to you.
If you order a new Lexus, but it shows up with a terrible paint job, you're not going to just say "well, I don't actually get to see the paint while I'm driving anyway, so it would be shallow to reject the car." You know you'd reject the car, despite the fact that it's against the spirit of the same logic you're using for this issue.
Aesthetics matter in videogames, to a lot of people. Especially people who spent a lot of money on their PC components. Especially in a game of which's major selling point is immersion, which is reduced by seeing development's technological failure when you look at your character.
You may be fine with it, but I, and many other are not. Continually calling us 'shallow', wont change that, even if it was an objective statement, which it is not.

Uh, son, I've been playing MMOs since 2000. I've seen the launch of probably a dozen MMOs, I've spent thousands of dollars on F2P and P2P MMOs, and I've probably been max level in more MMOs than most people have heard of, I AM an avid gamer. You may be more experienced at MMOs than me, that's unimportant as I'm more experienced than the overwhelmingly vast majority of gamers. I've been a faction leader (12sky2, LongHaoKan faction leader of the Guans), the highest level in a game (was also the strongest person in it, by far, LOA), I've done 16 hour+ grinds (Rappelz, 12sky2, Cabal), I've been in the top guilds of entire games (LOA Avalon, 12sky2) as well as top guild on servers (BSGO ReB on Caprica prior to their fall from glory, Rappelz HnK on Bahamut, 12sky2 Die4honor on Devotion, GodzAmongMien in Warrock)
As such, I know that the fact is while you're fighting something you're not staring at your body thinking "wow, these graphics aren't very hi res". You're a bit more busy with, I don't know, managing your skills, observing your opponent? So unless you play all the way zoomed in, and don't focus on the fight at all and are instead focusing on your characters looks, my point still stands. While you're actually playing (fighting, dialogue, etc.) you're not going to notice the textures.
wall of text translated- 'I can piss farther than you'

So the better looking graphics a few months ago in beta was a bug? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
What he meant by 'bug' is 'oops, we got caught'.

I'm so glad this celebrity decided to chime in. Thanks for letting us know. Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you, as they say.
Seriously, if you folks obsess over character graphics, you're losing sight of the big picture. Do you play zoomed in nearly all the way, and do you focus on the sharpness of the Sith Inquisitor's chest texture when you're carrying a Huttball to the goal, and two guys are doing their darnedest to slow you/kill you?
Because if that is a concern for you in a game like this... where you should be playing at a decent zoom-out to see the action around you... and FP/Ops/PVP action abounds... well, I feel bad for you. You either haven't played many MMOs, or your priorities are severely messed up.
Power windows don't make or break a car either, but if you order 2012 luxury car that shows up with with manual windows, you're still gonna say 'w t f fix it now'.

Bioware and EA doesn't care how much you people whine on their boards. In the end if you re-sub, they still got your money. So whine on...they do not care.
On the other side of things, BW can PR-tactic the subject all they want, but that wont stop the continued loss of subs that they may very well end up with. And if they do, they can't say we didn't warn them.

it's probably been posted, but http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r277/UnruheEndlos/TORWOWComparison.jpg

Pathetic Bioware, pathetic.

Easy solution- Make cutscene and non-cutscene versions of the dungeons. Group leader decides which one to set the dungeon mode to.
Non-cutscene version of the dungeon will only give you lightside/darkside and direction choices, but no dialog.

Tell me, which game has raised the bar past what ToR released?
We were hoping it would be this game to do so.
-
I'm sorry, but as much as I agree with you guys, I can't help but lol every time I see one of these threads
-
You are mad it got an 8 out of 10? Isn't that pretty good?
Not sure I understand the problem?
An 8 is about a 2 the way games are rated these days.

Kevin Vanord? Never read him.
I usually watch Total Biscuit

If not buffing the amount rewarded to these kinds of quests, then please make the option to kill the quest giver for wasting our time.
-
but why would you want to?
-
To be able to move AND resize them would go a long way. They could have easily implemented this into the UI naively like RIFT did. Well, maybe not 'easily', but they could have, and should have.
-
RAM, like everyone else says, however it probably wont increase your fps at all, if that's what you're looking for.
edit: RAM cap, interesting. Well, for under 200$ you could get some neat aftermarket cooling and then OC' the heck out of that old crap
-
Some of the bugs and lack of certain features (UI is especially bad) is kinda a let down, but I'd still rather be playing SWTOR than WoW. I can't stand the idea of going back to WoW. SWTOR ftw.

dismiss and re-summon

It wouldn't have been if you didn't use an inaccurate analogy.
because you say so
-
It's more like you having to move your car out of the garage if you want to access the contents inside your car.
Is this an invitation to a pissing match about the accuracy of analogies?
[Official High Resolution Textures Post] Can we get a clarification on this?

It would be better if they fixed these issues before release.
It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario because they f'd up, not because we're unreasonable customers.
If, within the first 5 threads, they would have been honest and forthcoming about what happened, and committed to fixing it... They wouldn't have been so 'damned'. Heck, I'll even take honesty and commitment now. But instead we get explanations about ui bugs and carefully chosen words about fidelity.
They've damned themselves.
Do YOU understand?
