  1. I agree with you but customer service, being employees of BioWare, has the power to affect real change. Any real solution will ultimately have to come from BioWare.
  2. So what if it is? You're guilty of the same thing. Besides, does anyone really want to see their friends get bullied and harassed? I'm sick of this crap. So what's your excuse? Why do you care so much about what other people do in a game that ultimately has no bearing on your gameplay? And as I said, it's not just our guild that's done it, it's several. You also can't blame all of our members. Many of them think using the exploit is wrong. Your beef isn't with any particular guild, it's with particular players or has the reason why you even started the bullying to begin with escaped your mind? You've made your complaints in the proper way now step off. Lymain: No one here is saying these people who used the exploit are right. Everyone on both sides has said it's not. What I don't agree with is bullying those players as a solution to the problem. They should instead lodge their complaints via Customer Service and leave it at that. I agree it's just a game but I don't want my friends to be bullied anymore. We shouldn't have to put it up with it and we won't.
  3. Said every bully ever. There's always a reason among bullies to justify their actions. He's too fat, she's too perfect, these people are getting away with stuff they shouldn't be etc. Every bully feels justified in their actions. If ever the solution you reach is to bully/harass someone then you need to come up with a different solution. This is never the solution to any problem. So what are you trying to accomplish? Bullying and harassing them accomplishes nothing. They're not going to stop using their hilt, and they're not going to give in to you. All it does is create a bunch of drama on the server where there doesn't need to be any. It's kinda funny: you complain about others abusing the system but you're doing the same. Isn't the end goal in all of this to get BioWare to fix the issue? Let's not forget that it is BioWare's poor solution to address the issue of people accidentally overwriting their parts that allows others to exploit this. Unlike other exploits though AN EMPLOYEE ACTUALLY LOOKS AT EACH SITUATION. That's pretty damning that they haven't noticed the trend themselves. Another second longer in looking into the situation and binding the hilt to either the MH or OH is all that would be needed to resolve this once and for all. Any anger at this should be directed at them. No other MMO has this problem. So if you're so upset about it perhaps you should look into another MMO? At the end of the day, people will a way to exploit a system and take advantage. This is true in life and in video games. It may not be right and it may not be fair but in all these situations there are systems in place to voice your concerns and to try and get something done about it. None of these ways are through bullying. All bullying does is make you look bad and invalidates any argument you have on the issue. -- KBN here's the post on SWTOR.com I referred to. This user posted about this exploit on May 4, 2013 and also provided a screenshot of someone posting an unbound endgame hilt on the GTN: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=634461
  4. So your solution is..cyber-bullying? I think that's pretty reprehensible as well. The solution to all this is simple: Speak up in the Customer Service forums. Perhaps if enough of us do something will be done about it. That's really the proper and only sensible course of action in a case like this. And to be clear: It's not any one guild that's doing it, it's several. In the meantime, it seems there are individuals, at least on Imp Side, who love to troll the ones that have used this exploit and harass them in public channels. This is cyber-bullying and harassment and I'm quite certain it violates SWTOR's terms of service. Rest assured screenshots are being taken and submitted to Bioware. I'm not saying those that abuse the system are in the right. They're not. But to engage in cyber-bullying is, in my eyes, even worse. It's really soured things on our server and makes our otherwise fine community look like a bunch of playground bullies and it needs to stop.
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone! As I'm a sorc healer I decided to pop my force barrier when I heard the emote and then call it for my group. It worked!
  6. To all those that consistently get past Corrupter Zero: How do you handle the full length laser when he's around 30 - 40%? It seems to happen so fast for us it's pure luck for anyone who isn't a sorc to avoid it. (Force Barrier ftw!) We'd be downing him consistently if it wasn't for this mechanic. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks, Scionfall
  7. ooc in your guide you reference a total of 10 enhancements (4 surge, 6 alacrity for PVE etc.) but there's only 7 slots available for enhancements. Am I missing something here? Thanks! Scionfall
  8. And this is the argument I often hear against such action. But to make my case and maybe it's because it's nearly 1am on Ebon Hawk on a Thursday night but I literally just played 3 PVP matches in a row where I got either an instant pop or within a minute and all three times we were up against the same team (at least 3 of yours were on the other side). I've already stated that I'm fine with the pre-mades - it's the nature of the game. But there's no variety and I see this during all hours - the same couple of teams on each side are constantly battling against each other. I enjoy PVP and so I continue to play but it can get frustrating when you know that all you're doing is banging your head against a brick wall that is a superior opposing team. I really like this idea. I would almost create a separate leveling system just for PVP. Valor doesn't really do it for me because you get it just for showing up and it's independent of ability at the game which is kinda the same thing as Experience (assuming you're referring to one's level like you and I are level 55). Creating a separate system where you gain experience only if you win would work much better imo. It has its flaws to be sure but just because I'm valor 60 doesn't make me an expert at PVP in any sense.
  9. Thanks for the post Ralen and to all others that contributed thus far. I've played quite a bit of PVP and I've seen the best of it and the worst of it. I see a lot of the problems with PVP as a BW/EA issue. I really feel that cross-server PVP is something that should have been implemented long ago. Even beyond winning and losing it's no fun playing against the same team over and over again and this is often the case (at least pre-50) that I experience on a daily basis weekends included. Level 50 PVP also has a nasty rep among those that I've talked to due to nothing but highly skilled (and well geared) players and premades stomping over anyone or any group that tries to get in on the action. This isn't a slight against those that are - they've worked hard to be as good as they are - but from what I've witnessed and experienced there exists a barrier to entry that the more casual players find too difficult to cross which results in a more elitist and smaller playing field. As to the question of how to deal with hotheads it's tough. Being active and reporting a player(s) for harassment when they stoop to name calling is a good first step. If enough people do it then BW/EA will do something about it. I also like your idea of teaching people how to PVP basics or the finer points. Maybe if you made a post asking who would be interested on this within the server forum would work? Still, I don't think there is much that can be done beyond reporting them for harassment. Maybe sending a message to their guild leader might work (at least if they're part of a large and respected guild) may result in that person being a more level headed player. In the end, people will be people. Their emotions will run high (esp. in PVP) and things wil be said (it's not right but it's not going to change either). A part of it is to just ignore it. Now if someone's stalking you or acting with the sole purpose to make other player's lives miserable then that is harassment and I'm pretty sure EA/BW will have something to say to the offending player. Report them. And send an email to EA/BW as well through whatever channels they have in regards to player harassment. See you on the battlefield!
  10. Pretty good discussion on this! I agree with poster that said it was the principal of the matter - that we're getting a crap title (and not even us even if the people that bought the game in the last 30 days are getting the title so really people who bought it previously are still not getting anything exclusive that anyone else would be getting). Titles are set it and forget it sort of thing - no one pays attention and no one really cares (Just like EA/BW!). Sure it's a "refund" but again what about the rest of us "so sorry you paid for it when less than a month later we made it free here's you money back!" is what they're saying. What's so hard about saying "hey sorry all of you loyal subscribers paid money for this when we're now giving it away for free here's $10 worth of CC's." For the one who created a more honest statement over the one they crafted to be perfectly honest I'd rather they put out one like yours. Being legally obligated to offer the refund would at least be a legit excuse to them offering it. Offering it because they appreciate so much those that gave them $15 dollars instead of the approx. $500 as another posted had tallied is a bit backwards. As for the "all game depreciate in time" yes this is true and I'm fine with that. But MMO's operate a bit differently. Sure the expansion may go down in price But they're not being given $10 worth of game credits at the same time due to being a new customer. What EA/BW is saying is the players that just started are more important than the ones who have been playing this whole time. My "reward" may have been to play for 5 months before them but EA's reward was hundreds of dollars worth of business that I gave them during that same time. As for those typical posters who say all people like me do is whine a part of the reason why EA/BW puts these forums up is for its players to voice their opinions - their likes and their dislikes and when there's something wrong we all have a right to tell them how we feel.
  11. So let me get this straight: A. You're giving the expansion which was previously stated that was so big you needed to charge money for it for free to new subs. B. Anyone who purchased it in the past month will be effectively refunded for their purchase via Cartel Coins C. Loyal subscribers for the past 6 months are given a title and no free cartel coins. Personally I find this offensive. I and many others have supported this game from the very beginning, understood that the expansion, which was initially going to be free (but then they decided to charge money because of all the big stuff they threw in) and pre-ordered/purchased it and all I'm given is a title? This is a big slap in the face to all of your loyal subscribers. Why not also refund us the money via cartel coins as well? Is our loyalty to the game not worth more than a title (the last of which you sold for 10 cartel coins)? I think we should also be given the 1050 cartel coins.
  12. Storyline I think could go either way but if you don't want to spend all your time leveling the affection (purp grade 5 repub memorabilia that she loves - at level - will grant about +60 affection it's really really bad as a female) then go with a male. As for leveling I had no problem as a healer. Your first companion is a pretty good tanky type. Plus my understanding is that the dps and healing stats needed are pretty much the same between them so going heals is actually quite viable as a sorc and quite a bit of fun imo. Plus if you PVP you will be loved and queues for flashpoints will be quicker too. Hope that helps and say 'Hi' to Harkun for me .
  13. So a guildie got ganked in Secion X today and his executioner said some not so nice things to him. So a buddy and I decided to take our revenge all the way back to the Republic base! That's right! If you jump in all the right places you can actually get in yourself! The ultra sad part is they couldn't even take us down. None of the mobs there attack you and after several attempts the two pubs in there finally gave up trying to kill us. It was beautiful. Here's a link of a screenshot of us standing on the Republic insignia in the middle of their base. Enjoy! http://i.imgur.com/MNN6hie.jpg
  14. My experience is that it's both easy and fun to level a sorc healer even from the beginning. Once you get Force Storm the fun you'll have leveling one will be doubled =).
