  1. I don't think anyone is calling for static houses. Try decaf.
  2. Maybe you need to choose dark side options more? My quest turn in's tend to go like this: Questgiver: "Well done. You are incredible." Me: "I know." Questgiver: "Don't be an ahole."
  3. Oh yeah. It would have to be instanced. Without question.
  4. Yeah, I suppose I did use the standard 969 rotation on my Prot Paladin in WoW and my EQ2 Guardian required even less attention to abilities. I tend not to play DPS very often so that may be why I almost never used any macros.
  5. To my knowledge we can get gear for our companions from the same vendors that we can buy our own gear from. You just buy and equip like you would for yourself.
  6. Let me first say that I'm not a Star Wars nerd. I've seen all 6 movies plus Spaceballs, so I know the basics, but the healing mechanic in this game seems a little weird to me. So I have some questions that maybe some of the lore experts can help me with. 1. Can the force actually heal someone? I can see it possibly healing light side users and giving them longer life... but dark side users? I see Sith Inquisitors healing and I'm like... what? Not only why would they heal but how? Seems odd to me. 2. Are blaster heals for real? I've been healed in PvP by what appear to be IA and BH blaster weapons. So they're shooting me with healing guns? Does that really happen in the Star Wars universe? That seems pretty odd to me too. I mean I know the whole tank/healer/DPS mechanic is pretty entrenched in MMOs, so they had to find some way to include it, but does healing this way mesh with Star Wars lore or is it just the way BioWare managed to make it work in the game?
  7. I've played MMOs for like 6 years now and the only macro I ever used was one I was basically forced to use on my Paladin tank in WoW in order to bubble off a nasty debuff without losing threat during progression content. And I didn't even use that frequently. I spent way more time in my player house in EQ2. LOL.
  8. I completely agree with you. I see issues right now though. 1.) The GTN is completely FUBAR right now. I'm normally an economic player. I played the AH for hours a day in WoW and personally financed my entire 25 man guild's raiding costs for a length of time, while also acting as a bank for several of my friends. I've spent about 45 minutes with the GTN altogether and have given up in digust. It's horrible. If they don't fix it, economic players will be very unhappy. 2. Slicing. I've read reasonable and well thought out arguments for and against the existence of slicing, so I honestly can't say at this moment whether or not it will end up being a good thing for the economy at this point, but my intuition tells me it will be bad. If I'm right, something will have to be done in order to right it. 3. Crafting housing items wouldn't work. Can you imagine Darth Evilsith crafting furniture or making pieces of art and selling them on the GTN? They could do it with vendors, and possibly certain kinds of quest rewards, but I don't see player crafting for most housing items figuring into this game. I loved player housing in EQ2 and I don't know why most other games (especially WoW) haven't added this. In SW:TOR, maybe your ship could be your house or they could have instanced housing on capital planets. You could also take inspiration from the movies. Look at how much time was spent in Luke's home on Tattoine in A New Hope, Yoda's and Lando's homes in Empire, Anakin's on Tattoine during The Phantom Menace, and Padme's during episodes II and III. I'm completely in favor of it and I think it could be done well if those first three points are addressed, but if it comes I expect it won't be for a very long time.
  9. I've played almost exclusively with a friend of mine since level 1. We've done everything together on a couple of toons. Class quests, side quests, heroic quests, flashpoints, etc. Sometimes he'll start the instance and sometimes I will. Same with conversations. No matter what happens, I tend to win about 75% or more of the time, both conversation choices and gear rolls. It's gotten so bad I've started passing on loot and conversation choices after winning a few straight. I'm not sure if it's just weird randomness working with us or if there's a pattern with the game's RNG. I can't comment on the armor drops though since we play the same classes together most of the time.
  10. Yes, you really need to re-roll. Shadow and Sage are two different classes with two different sets of skill trees. Putting it in WoW terms, it would be like allowing you to respec your Paladin into a Priest. I don't see BioWare ever allowing an advanced class respec. If they ever do, it won't be anytime soon. I will grant you that it sucks the way they chose to do it though. And those first four starting planets are gonna get really effing old pretty soon.
  11. Where are you getting the 5% number from? To my knowledge, this game doesn't (yet) have a combat log or meters and I don't know how else you'd be able to tell that. As to the rest of this debate, I say this: 1. Does the Marauder provide any useful buffs or debuffs that other classes don't? If they do, they will get into raids based upon that alone. 2. Good DPS is good DPS. As a raid leader, I don't care if you're a Juggernaut or a Marauder DPS as long as you know what you're doing. The only reason I may refuse you as one or the other is because 1) I have too many in the raid already, 2) I don't want to have too many people rolling on the same gear, or 3) I have too many melee DPS and I need some more ranged. My advice is this- Pick the class role/class you want to play. Learn to play it well. I promise you're not going to be gimped or left out because you can only DPS (or only want to DPS). As long as you DPS WELL, you'll likely be welcome wherever you go regardless of the class you choose. Will you have a slightly easier time getting into raids if you're also able to tank? Sure. That versatility will get you a raid spot as a tank when all the melee DPS spots are full. But then you'll be tanking, and rolling on tank gear, instead of doing what you want to do. And you'll also be spending a significant amount of time learning to tank and gearing up for that role.
  12. WoW does (or used to during the latter half of Wrath at least) when buying badge gear. So say you bought your T10 chest for 90 badges and you changed your mind, you could bring them back to the vendor within an hour and trade them in for a full refund. The amount of time you had left to sell them back was in the tooltip. But just for regular vendors there was no "cooldown period." I've never seen that. They do allow you to buyback things you accidentally sold at no premium though.
  13. I did this exact same thing. I swore I chose Juggernaut but somehow ended up as a Marauder. I left my toon alone and put in a ticket for it. Hopefully they'll do me a solid and reset the conversation for me since I haven't assigned any talent points or anything. What I WOULD like to see is a confirmation screen. For example, "Hey, you... you just chose to become a MARAUDER... are you SURE you want to do this? Once you choose, you will NOT be able to change your mind... EVER." But I didn't get that. I just chose an option, which I thought was Juggernaut, and was taken straight to the Marauder skill tree to assign points.
