  1. Half a team on our maps is plenty. If it didn't work, people wouldn't premade. It boils down to human nature. Everyone wants to win, no one wants to lose. We tend to do things to make sure we are "winners".
  2. I'm fun because I call a spade a spade. Tell Deebs he's better than I am. However I think the numbers would be alot closer if i didnt take 585k damage and die 16 times. I stick by my opinions though. Ran on pot5 for 2 days, my pt's gimpieness makes me want to cry. I figured I'd do the dailies on dom for some burst damage in my life.
  3. Ok, this has begun to devolve into a "I hate premades" thread. That's NOT what I posted for. My complaining was not solely about premades, I complain about poor play/strat/ect as well. I have played on both sides of the fence, premade and pug. Premades win much more often than solo pugging in my experience (thousands of games on multiple toons and specs). It is my OPINION that being forced to group to equalize the competitive advantages is bad. If decent matchmaking was in place, perhaps life wouldn't be so bad for the puggers. However, said matchmaking does not exist, and hence the problem. I complain because it's in my nature to do so. Can we please just let it drop? There is a 400+ page thread in the PvP section about this already. I like you guys/gals. Lets not keep this going anymore...please. P.S. : Please no not lump me in with the LTP complainers. I know how to play, perform fairly well too, as many of you can attest. However I never have and don't claim to be a top-tier pvper.
  4. sigh..... warzones are the pinnacle of "team play" - 8 random strangers grouped together with a single goal Logging in to do pvp dailies should not be a constant headache that takes 2 hours.... per toon.... per day. I realize this is an mmo. I understand that grouping is encouraged. I realize people love to win win win. I did the premade "stomp pugs into oblivion" thing for months on the fatman. It got old for me. I grew out of it i guess. It occurred to me after a while that I'd been on the opposite side of those beatings and I didn't like that feeling. There is no challenge there. Imo 4 mans are a crutch the average players use to feel superior and win, so large is the advantage it gives. And that's what i tell them every-time I see them stomping pugs (my team) into the ground. Funny part is, things on pot5 are prolly worse now with the transfers than before I came back to visit lol. Warzone leavers were already an issue there a month ago. We'll see soon enough.
  5. This is Dom. I'm sure that none of you (or very few) know me. If you do it's most likely due to my pvp ranting. But I needed to say thanks for letting me play my original toons again. 16 months on fatman and pot5 was a long time to be away. I pvp...alot. Joined a guild that had quite a few old school peeps from the thana vesh days in it. It brought back alot of fond memories. Was asked to leave due, in part, to my commentary during solo pug pvp matches. I complain. Said complaining places said guild in a negative light. For that, I apologize. I have 2 main gripes that I always complain about: 4 man premades in reg warzones, and poor decision making during matches. I eagerly await the time when I'm not forced to q solo against premades unless I want to. The poor decisions that some players make, well, I hate to be hobbled any more than I already am by queing solo. Am I the best player? certainly not. I make mistakes too. I rate myself a c+ to b- tbh. I've played every class and spec in the game into mid 40's or higher. But the things I complained about were even more fundamental than class or spec. Things like know how to pass the huttball, to make sure at least one person goes to "our" node in novarre and civil war, to call out incoming, to not wear old pvp gear with expertise on it (due to bolster gimping it), that sort of thing. Imo, those sorts of things should not happen in a max level warzone in a game that is over a year and a half old. So tonight I find myself guildless once again, destined to get roflstomped by premades for days on end in pug warzones. With that future, I'd rather be back on pot5 on my gimped PT. In short, sorry for complaining, but it's my nature.
  6. difficulty with medals as a pt????? lmao newsflash: use your taunts on cd. very easy to get 2-3 for protection just with taunts. I's not as easy as it used to be post nerf, but you can still get well over your 8 per game if you take advantage of all the abilities on the table.
  7. It wouldn't work for one reason.... Kill-trading. Give players a neat way to get comms, it will be exploited.
  8. Oh i don't stop queing just because I hit a bad streak. Before I joined the guild i was in on the fatman (may she rest in peace), I went 7-62 one week. Kept posting my record in fleet after every match until i got a tryout invite. After joining and being in guild 4 man premades I went 10-1 till the reset. My skill didn't change and gear didn't change much, just the premade vs solo queing. So the moral of the story is: yes i'll be seing you around.
  9. Best part is that premades v pugs makes me chuckle. If you all noticed by the 5th game of pug v premade i started sitting down. Been playing on pot5 for the last 18 months. So yea I've done my share of pugstomping too. Difference is i got tired of the one way games after a while, you all haven't yet and that's cool. I'm just trying to gear up now that i can transfer around, and getting 50 comms a match gets old after a couple hours. If you think I was angry sorry to burst your bubble. One I get geared I may join a ranked guild here and we can have some fair matches, although at my current rate of com accumulation, that may take some time. Yours truly, Dom (yep 3 letters no squiggles = been here longer than most of you lol)
  10. This is one of the best and most concise posts I've seen yet on this topic. Thank you. All of the ranting and raving boils down to this. It is far easier to form a group of 4 and que regs and win than it is to get an ops group of 8 and que ranked for losses. Even with the greater reward level of ranked, the ques tend to take longer, which offsets the gain. Therefore, that's what we see happen - the path of least resistance.
  11. wow...just wow. You still get to play with your hand picked premade dear. Us lowly puggers just want to play how we want to as well. BTW, I played in 4 man premades and 8 man rateds too. S*it got very old after 6 months of stomping pugs. Maybe you just haven't gotten there yet.
  12. I dont trust bioware's developers to be able to code a proper matchmaking system. The simplest, and therefore best solution, is to just add a checkbox for solo que. Anytime bioware attempts to get complex it backfires.... (55 bolster anyone?)
  13. I support a solo que option/toggle. The reason is simple. Fairness. You want to group up? cool. You want to solo que? cool too. Splitting the ques makes it so you play against like-minded people who want to do the same thing you do. I've been playing since launch. I used to be in a fairly decent guild on a pre-merge server. We ran ranked. We won some; we lost some. I ran in 4 man teams for months. I almost only solo que now. I know how to play. I'm not a "baddie". I'm not the best player in the world either, but I'd like to think I can hold my own on any of my toons. I miss the early days when good games happened alot more than they seem to do now. You know the memorable games you talked about in guildchat or in general? Now it seems to just be stomp or be stomped, and I'm saddened by the change.
  14. Someone did an analysis of the new repair costs and it is bugged, as the new formula seems to be taking the shell price into account, not just the mods in it. My lvl 15 alt had a 5.5k repair bill upon repairing from around 50% durability. I was doing the daily in hammer station and we wiped several (5-6?) times. He is wearing a full selection of cartel market orange and crafted orange gear with lvl appropriate mods (mostly lvl 11-13, a couple of 15's and a couple of 9's as well) IMO, a repair tab that large for a lvl 15 is a definite issue. Will a new player have the same issue in greens? Most likely not, but it is still an annoyance.
  15. well i just hit the repair bill issue for the first time...Took screenies to prove it too. LVL 15 toon. my gear is mostly adaptive oranges. had 2 greens in the yelow after about 7-8 wipes. rest of my gear (the oranges) were at around 50% my repair bill was 5500 credits. 5500 credits on a lvl 15 toon is insane. i pretty much only pvp on my 50's so i hadn't seen the issue until now. I'm a believer.
  16. Another source for orange armor for companions is flashpoints. The armor in there is not class specific. So if you want to go back and power through eseles or hammer station, you can use that gear for your companions if you like the look.
  17. bait and switch? i don't think so.... BUT.... It WAS stated by bioware that legacy perks would require legacy level or credits...NOT BOTH. So when legacy actually came out, the community was understandably ticked that they did cost an exorbitant amount of credits for everything. (remember this was around the time of the guild summit when bioware stated that most lvl 50's had around 300k credits) Now i understand that credits are easy to get, but a lot of that is dependent on in-game factors like how well your servers gtn performs, ect.... I just don't buy any legacy perks other than what i absolutely require for my play-style.
  18. Exactly It's a lot easier to farm comms with a fully decked out toon than a fresh 50. More medals = more comms win or lose. (rated team q's are also a plus) and santaeus: yes that is exactly what you can do. However the rakata mods will not grant the set bonus, only the WH and Campaign sets do that currently
  19. another idea for those with alts.... My lvl 46 op already has 5 pieces of war hero armor in his bank, sent to him by my main via the legacy armor. I will buy the mainhand wh weapon when he dings and in less than a week i'll be full augmented war hero. It's expensive, but hey it's only credits right?
  20. perhaps i shouldn't be surprised that this thread got to 14 pages....... but to reiterate my original statement. I'm NOT saying roots should generate resolve. I am saying that once your resolve bar is full, you would be unable to be rooted until the resolve bar empties. Think about this honestly instead of all the doom and gloom postings about how it would "break" the game. in practice it would do 2 things... 1) would allow for someone who had his/her break available to actually move freely for about 10 sec every 2 min....if they waited to use it until their resolve was full 2) roots would become the new stuns (helping ranged out btw) because people would not want to fill opponents resolve bars The time for a full resolve bar to empty is at most around 10 sec ( i think that's being very generous, it is probably less time than that tbh) Once the bar is empty, then you can be rooted again. Making people think about using a stun vs a root given a particular situation is not a bad thing.
  21. My level 26 operative has two pieces of war hero in the bank, and he'll have a 3rd this week. My main just hit valor 80, has fully augmented WH gear, and the only reason i pvp with him is to grind for gear for my alt. He needs nothing for himself, so why not? This alt will be my 5th 50, as I have 3 others stranded on my old server waiting for paid transfers. I've done the grind game multiple times. I'm glad I don't have to again.
  22. WRONG those classes are good now only because they haven't been nerfed yet. Bioware is slowly nerfing every class. Sents, pts, and slingers were always capable and they are also the least touched by bioware since the game launched. therefore they are the best ones left.
  23. I am saying only for roots to respect a full resolve bar, not generate resolve on their own or any changes like that.
  24. This is not a complaint thread. I understand that resolve in this game can be very touchy subject. I'm curious though if a consensus can be reached. I wonder if players would agree or disagree that roots should respect the resolve bar. By "respect" I am saying that if your resolve is filled (whitebar) you cannot be rooted until your bar is empty. In my opinion this would help to alleviate a lot of the frustration that players feel over the current situation. I think it might actually make for better gameplay as well. so to get this started I say yes roots should respect a full resolve bar. UPDATE: 10 pages in count is 24 for and 30 against
  25. So, i guess no-one ever heard of left clicking for invites eh? Once transfers come to my server (if they ever do) i can GUARANTEE that NONE of my names will be available on my destination. i will use the charmap letters because there is no other option for me. I was an early access player whose chosen early access server has died through no fault of my own. BTW, i did reroll at one point, too bad the server i rolled on is not a destination for the server i started on, nor will it be one (pve to pvp). I'm not a mind-reader or a savant, there is no way that i would or should have known in advance what bioware's intentions were to better prepare for this. To tell ppl that " I will put you on ignore" or " I refuse to group with ppl with those letters in their names" is just rude. We have been playing just as long or perhaps longer than you have, you were just luckier than we were. Luck doesn't give you the right to treat us like second-class citizens.
