The problem is, it's already ridiculously fast/easy to level. The only thing stopping people from reaching 50 in 2 days are the silly mob spawns.
I agree that it's annoying, but MMOs have gotten so easy, that removing what minor obstructions still remain will be the final blow.
/shrug. If fighting all those mobs really annoys you that much, run past them until you die, then res /repeat. All you suffer there is a repair bill.
There is a way to bypass all that, it's called dying lol.
As I said, that's what I've been doing. But the fact that I felt like that was actually a viable option just screams bad game design.
Also, they really need to just relabel sith warrior stealth's tooltip to "Doesn't do anything, why did we even bother including this skill?" instead of the long winded description they have.

It's the same Empire side. Every quest you get is like that as well, the NPC Officers and Moffs in charge of the planet are some of the most useless rabble ever, and the Empire will surely fail unless YOU clean up the mess single-handedly.
This only really makes sense. You're supposed to be one of the most powerful Sith/jedi to have ever lived, it wouldn't be as fun if everyone was like "We don't need you here, we're good".
-
Did you not see the opening movie? The Sith have the upper hand, the Republic do not. It only makes sense that everything is an uphill battle.
Plus, the cardinal law of alignment is that it's way cooler to be evil.

Pluuuezzz get off your soapbox it's embarrassing,,,,,,
Were you even alive during Ultima Online? I don't think you're older than 15. Anyway, you can't talk to me unless you at least know what a true hardcore, challenging MMO is. So good bye.
-
Your choice. If are you just to lazy to actually fight to get to a quest target....By all means lets dumb the game down to appease /facepalm
Take your "I'm so hardcore" attitude elsewhere, please. I survived through Ultima Online PvP, I'm more hardcore than you could ever be.

Oh, yeah Alderaan is thickly settled with mobs in a few areas, to the point of absurdity. I quick traveled quite a bit there.
Yep, that's why it's gonna be the first planet I don't finish. Getting off that ******** as soon as I finish my class quests.
-
Either that is from beta a long time ago, or it is indeed bugged.
-
I only notice it when there aren't other people around. Usually there are so many other people that we're competing to get the kills.
Been a few times when I just ran through empty streets to my objective because the 4 person group ahead of me killed everything.
yeah, that's what I was noticing, usually I hate sharing quest areas with other people, but today on Alderaan I found myself wishing the area was overcrowded.
-
He's kidding.
I don't trust it. I always assume people are serious.
-
Right, so this is better because it's more of a challenge, more people to kill and stuff to destroy
I sense we may have to agree to disagree on this point
I just enjoy the challenge, nothing quite as much fun as force choke followed by throw sabre :csw_bluesaber:
But...there's no challenge in it. It's not hard killing 70 groups of 4 normal mobs and 20 elites with a single normal mob with them. It's just tedious.
Believe me, I love challenge in games. I have taken to soloing heroics just to find a semblance of challenge in this game.

We're not your psychologists. We're here to play a game, I find it unfortunate whatever personal problems you're having, but I don't care about them. Nor do I really care about the people I'm grouped with unless they prove to be exceptional players.
If you're pulling and progressing the dungeon, I will gladly be friendly and social with you.
-
It was worse in Rift, IMO. Rift set the standard for this sort of thing. The difference here is it's a blast to kill mobs in this game. So if the get in the way, they get a light saber up their poop shoot. In Rift it was just plain tedious at times.
Yeah, that is one of the numerous reasons I quit Rift in under a month.

Ahhh well thats because Luke was a good goody Jedi, not the lunatic Marauder that I play.
I do seem to recall Anakin killing quite a few disposables though.
But even with most single player games there's always a certain amount of wading through disposables before you start to get to the real mission, it's just the way games are.
In SP games, the mobs don't respawn. So getting out is only a matter of walking out, not fighting through an entire platoon of 5 billion grunts again.
-
Now that sounds like a plan.
Make it tougher.
I don't know about you but I brought this game to kill things in a gratuitous Star Wars style, not creep around avoiding confrontation or actually doing anything.
Death or glory
I don't recall the point in Return of the Jedi where Luke walked down a narrow corridor for 50 minutes killing various disposable grunts that are replaced in under 5 minutes.
And yeah, I've started dying just as a means to get out of a place without having to fight since by the time I complete the quest I'm already annoyed at how many mobs I had to kill, or running as far as I can into an area and reviving using a medical probe and repeating. That is not good game design.
-
Give the game a few months and 50k credits will be nothing, 1 million credits will barely be anything.
Seriously, money is so ridiculously easy to get in this game that you have to be *real* spend happy to ever have money problems.
-
Weird. I have found the mobs to be almost too spread out. I tend to explore every nook and cranny(that doesn't require platforming), and I still do way more traveling between groups than actual fighting. Then again, mobs have a very small aggro range, and a large delay from when you enter it to when they actually attack. I can't count how many times my gunslinger has rolled into cover at a group's feet and still been able to back out without a fight.
On a side note, there are TONS of chests hidden in strange places.
They are, on the outside. But when you're forced into one of the game's billions of narrow linear corridors(some of which seem to be 20 miles long for no real reason), the agro becomes a problem. And one quest for 8.5k XP winds up taking 45 minutes because there's so much clearing needed.
-
TOR is the worst offender of "theme park MMO" i've seen yet. Everything just feels like a ride that you have to wait your turn at.
Maybe if it didn't take 5 minutes for all quest objectives to reset it would alleviate some of that.
-
It's really awful in PvP.
-
I'm pretty sure 90% of the players of this game don't do flashpoints for that exact reason. Bioware is essentially forcing a lot of players to miss a lot of content by bowing down to the vocal minority and refusing to add any sort of LFD tool.
We can't all spend our entire lives on the internet and get a consistent group of 10 internet friends to play with. A lot of us have real life friends that take precedence, as well as a job.
-
The amount of kddies here that get needlessly defensive without even knowing what they're talking about is real annoying.
And not even EQ was as bad as this game, at least in EQ you actually had a chance of outrunning the mobs, as well as things like group invisibility.
-
Welcome to MMOs?
Doesn't work here. I've played more MMOs than you, I can guarantee you, and none have forced you to engage enemies like this one.
-
The amount of times I've had to do a quest, but be forced to wade through 50+ enemy troops to get to one objective, and then wade through another 20+ to get the the final objective, and, if my warp is down, go through the entire place again to get out is ridiculous.
There needs to be a far better way to avoid agro. Speeders don't work, because they blow up as soon as you take damage. Running doesn't work, as the mobs are spread so thickly that you can't outrun one group without agroing another. My awful Sith marauder "stealth" doesn't do jack ****.
Something needs to be done about this. It makes questing extremely tedious.

Been Social Rank 3 since lvl 26, I'm 28 now and 1k from Social rank 4. I have done every single quest in the game up to this point in a group. Not just Flashpoints/Heroic quests. By 40 I'll easily be Social rank 7. I party with my Wife. I guess it just depends on how "social" you really want to be =)
Good Luck! =)
I don't really think grouping with your wife really qualifies as being social. More like just lugging the ball and chain around.

I think the game desperately needs a "non-human" playable race. The fact that you can only play near-human races in a galaxy filled with literally uncountable species ripe for the picking is really silly. The closest we get to that is Twi'lek, but I hate their head *****s.
Ewoks would be fine, they're cute. But Gungans? Only if they add a Gungan slaughter zone where it just spawns 500 of them with 1 HP and you run around killing them all.
Mounts, is it me or?
