  1. I'm looking for an up-to-date guide that explains the optimal distribution of defense, shield chance and shield absorb stats. I'm familiar with the Noxxic guides but I've been told by some that they are garbage/not current. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good write up? In the alternative, if you're an expert on the distribution, please let me know what the targets are.
  2. Thanks. One more, potentially n00by question related to what I've quoted. If both Tionese and Columni come from the same FPs (Hard Modes), how is it that you are acquiring commendations for the gear one rank down from what you are trying to loot? Should you approach the first Hard Modes you do trying to loot Columni and spending your tokens on Tionese?
  3. Very helpful. Has the community built out a comprehensive list that associates particular pieces of gear with particular bosses? Eg: Tionese legs drop from boss x in FP A. Columni bracers drop from boss y in FP B. From what you wrote, for the different gear, a piece (let's say Columni head gear for the sake of the example) can either a) drop or b) be purchased with commendations/crystals. Is this an either/or proposition? In other words, is a piece either a drop OR purchaseable? Or are all pieces available as drops AND purchaseable items? Is this true of every armor grade?
  4. Folks, Let me preface this by saying that I am sure these questions have been asked and perhaps answered, with varying degrees of specificity, in other places on this forum and the internet. I have a battery of related questions that I hope people answer or direct me to a source which can, like an existing guide or article. I've brought them together here for ease of consumption. Here we go: What are the pve and pvp loot tiers, in order from lowest to highest? What is the dungeon progression as it relates to tiers of pve gear? For example, what places do I go to get the first tier of pve endgame loot. Where to after I have completed tier 1? Etc. Possibly tied in with the first two questions, where does loot from Hard Mode versions of early FPs (eg: Black Talon) fit in with the tiers? What is the actual endgame pve loot mechanic? I keep hearing something about loot bags mixed with commendations. How does endgame pvp gear compare to endgame pve gear? Where does Ilum fit into all of this? I think this covers a lot of the questions most people have when the reach 50 with respect to gear and the end game. If no sticky/guide exists, I hope that we can create a community resource.
  5. This is by far the best resource I have found for holocrons. http://www.swtor-spy.com/datacrons/ Hope this is useful.
  6. Full of exaggerations? My comment about destroying gameplay was quite specific. If you are 5+ levels higher than the content you are doing, that gameplay experience is destroyed. If you can't understand that, there is nothing that can be done for you. Furthermore, you make it sound like I am some demanding little prat that wants the game tailored to my hyper specific tastes. Here is something revolutionary: I believe that you shouldn’t be grossly overleveled in an MMO from doing all available regular quest content in your zones. … How is this controversial? Expecting this out of an MMO is entirely reasonable, especially one BILLED ON THE STORY. Should you be a little ahead of the curve if you are 100% completionist? Of course. But when I get to the next world and the majority of the quests are grey, that is an epic fail.
  7. Wrong. If they reduce the mission xp, you won’t have to supplement with anything to maintain at-level with planet progression. Why? Because the existing quest arc, if completed on each planet, will SIGNIFICANTLY overlevel you. You don't have to do PvP. You don’t have to do space missions. You don't have to do flashpoints. The bottom line is that completing the entire portfolio of quests causes overleveling and destroys the game experience as you progress. I am not one of those people that grinds PvP or space missions. If you don’t believe me, try it. Roll an alt. Go for 100% completion on quests. For a game that is billed on story, you shouldn’t have to skip content to avoid being bored later. That is inexcusable.
  8. Soche - Are you kidding me? Skipping the heroics would absolutely account for the "few levels" that you are behind. Like, how is that not *** facepalm obvious? You're talking about the single largest source of xp in the questing structure applied across presumably several planets. The internet is truly an extraordinary place.
  9. This game, like most MMOs is entirely linear. That isn’t a problem. This overleveling phenomenon doesn’t imply an alternate non linear approach to reaching the end game. It simply creates the difficult proposition of deciding to blow ahead through the line (from point 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, etc) OR skipping content along the line (1 to 2, 2 to 4, 4 to 6, etc). As far as the sample size is concerned, look around the forums. Look around the servers. This is happening everywhere. Better yet, try it yourself. Complete every mission on every planet. Do an instance here or there, maybe a game of PvP or a space mission mixed in. You will be insanely overleveled for the natural progression of the game.
  10. Let me preface this by saying that I adore this game. I was in on the 2nd day of early access and can't get enough. There have been a host of threads about characters quickly becoming overleveled as progress is made through the zone content associated with their story arc and the enjoyable side content also available on a daily basis (space, flashpoints, pvp) is completed. These threads usually degenerate into a discussion about whether or not leveling to 50 takes too long or goes too quickly. These issue are distinct and, in fact, have very little or nothing to do with one another. Let me make a fine distinction that the majority of these forum users, being children (both in temporal and emotional senses), probably won’t be able to grasp: There is a serious issue with character progression that causes toons to be ridiculously overleveled for the content that is “next in line”. This has nothing to do with the time it takes one to reach the next level. In my case, I completed all side quests and dabbled in flashpoints, pvp and space missions and completed Balmorra (Empire) at 27. That is a total joke, and puts me in the ridiculous position of having to decide whether or not to skip entire planets or plow through easy content that will likely grey out. Just to preempt some of your inanity: But Bioware wants you to roll a bunch of alts!!1! Please, fail less. Again, I remind you that this has nothing to do with the speed of leveling, which should correlate with how many alts are created and taken to end game. But Bioware doesn’t intend you to complete all of the content!!1! How did you survive this long? Look at the planets. There is a clear linear progression in terms of level range. There are clear narrative progressions with both your class quest and side content. No matter how you slice it, the ease with which a character can be overleveled by doing the basic things associated with an MMO (completing quests, running an instance, etc) is an incredible blunder and piss poor design. The sooner the community gets off of its knees, the sooner we will see some kind of normalization of progression that fixes this horrible, horrible problem.
  11. Did some searching around and don't think you are entirely right. Cybertech makes mods and artifice makes enhancments, both of which go in different slots on weapons and gear. So cybertech will allow me to make usable mods that I otherwise wouldn't be able to make with artifice. It is just a matter of which slot they go into. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  12. So I selected Cybertech for my Sith Jug thinking that the mods I could make would be the appropiate mods for my weapons and armor. I know the mods work, because I have crafted some and fit them into my lightsaber. That being said, should I have chosen Artifice? How are the weapon/armor mods different?
