  1. Secret world.

    and to a degree ESO.

I hear final fantasy has a strong focus on the story as well. I played very little of it, but it was pretty voice and cut-scene heavy early on from what I could see.

both very story focused games that nonetheless manage to not only update that story on a fairly consistent basis, but don't leave other game modes in a dust.

a lot more games are focusing on the story nowadays. what SWTOR had that was unique were class stories. and now that we don't even have separate faction stories anymore.... hell WoW has far more story based content that SWTOR at this point, including class based, with a lot more voiced cutscenes.

I've never heard of Secret world but ESO? C'mon. Bethesda, until recently, has been extremely weak in the story department. Story is pretty much background in all of their games. As much as I enjoy the ES series it's not where I go when I want good characters and plotlines.

As for Final fantasy? Nothing they do is anything but cliche'd garbage for weebz. I'd rather have a story in which my character feels like my character and not like i'm watching some 3d anime crap.

Also, now that I've actually played WoW I can say definitively that it STILL has no story unless you're a lore buff (like me and my husband) who are willing to dig for it. Wow is and always will be first and foremost fanboy fodder. Story is not something they focus on.

I like SWTOR because it's an RPG first and an MMO second. Story is the main focus (at least for the main game) with characters you can actually give a crud about. I understand that to people who like MMOs it may not be great but for me it's wonderful. The issues for me aren't with story but with the fact that it's so limited by the MMO format and profit desperation. If SWTOR were a single player game I'd be so dang happy because I'm not particularly fond of MMOS in general (Though I play Black Desert, WoW, BnS, and ESO...I also only play solo and they never hold my attention for longer than a few days at a time before I go back to my single player games.)

I really wish they could find a balance that would appease the MMO players enough to keep the game alive. I'll be fine as long as I can solo and am not forced into PVP so at this point I'm more hoping for things other people want.

  2. Streamlines to the crafting system? (They may well have done that in the years I took a break but back in the day crafting was so overly complicated that I didn't even bother and I still don't. I pick all harvesting specialties and sell stuff to in-game vendors.)

New furniture FOR CREDS? Not everyone wants to pay real money for that stuff.

Basically anything cool for creds would be nice. I'm on a very small server so the market is practically inactive and almost everything on it is super expensive.

  3. I never understand why people do that, i mean i get it for the aliens and the droid beeps, but the conversations are why i play swtor, the story and they never get old, sadly, those that always demand to space bar it are the types that just do the run once and skip it from then on.

A lot of MMO players don't really care about story and aren't used to voiced dialogue either. In a game with relatively decent acting and a true RPG story it's sad to see. I might do it if I've done the quest a gazillion times (back when I played a lot and had multiple runthroughs at the same time I did it on side quests) Now that I'm back everything is new again so I wouldn't do it.

  4. Promise me that if I sub the game will be around for another year and I won't be wasting my money.

I love this game, I played the beta, pre ordered, played for months and then stopped for a couple of years because preferred status was garbage and I had a kid to support. Now that we're more stable I'd like to sub again and have been trying out a 7 day sub to see if it's worth it. I'd say it is, I still love the game and the story and combat still pull me in. I'm not a pvp player by any means and I solo rather than working with others (which is a good thing since I'm on the Bastion and that server averages 7 people per planet). The game is worthwhile to me but with people left and right saying it's dead or dying...I'm a little worried. I don't want to spend the money for a sub just to log in one day and see that it's been taken down.

A discount in the cartel market would be nice too because seriously...15 bucks for something in a game? Yikes. I know that's pretty standard in MMOs and if it were all just cosmetic it would be fine but unlocks and stuff shouldn't cost that.

OH and unlock all the races for subs. It's ridiculous that they were locked to begin with.

  5. Yup. The server is dead. It's been dead for a long time. In order to actually play and enjoy the game, we are now expected to either:

A.) Pay $$$/CC in addition to what we are already paying in subscription in order to transfer to a more populated server.

    or;

B.) Start over on a more populated server.

I love this game. Seriously.... I REALLY love it. Followed it for years in development. Scoured the forums every day. Played multiple beta phases. Hung on every word of every dev post, hoping for some hint at a release date.

The day that my collector's edition box arrived at my door was the happiest moment in all of the many years that I have been gaming.

I'm not going to say the usual "Blah blah, gimme what I want or you suck and I quit" BS that seems to by typical of these threads. I think it's safe to say that I will continue to play this game until they shut the servers down.

However, with all that having been said... I am incredibly disappointed that BW/EA would not do everything possible in order to keep a happy and healthy subscriber base.

If people don't enjoy your game, they will take their money elsewhere. I implore you, please do not kill this game.

Merge the bloody servers, for Pete's sake! lol

    /rant

I actually came back because I was afraid it was going to die soon and I hadn't finished all the storylines. My dearest pipe dream is that they turn the game into a single player experience when they finally shut it down and release it that way. I know that probably won't happen but I would hate the story told in this game (the first MMO I've ever seen that really focuses on story and being an RPG first and an MMO second) to just die like that before so many of us have experience it in full.

I'm a solo player so unpopulated servers don't bother me but seeing unhappy players does. I hope they do a server merge or something soon just for the sake of those who are quitting the game because of it.

  6. The server does seem pretty dead. Typically 10 players per planet that I'm on. It's really of no concern to me because I'm a solo player. I don't do heroics or operations, I hate pvp, and I really am playing just for the story.

That being said, if the server was more populated I wouldn't mind either. Other people would enjoy it more and maybe I would be willing to do heroics once in a while for the XP and loot.

In the end I'm gonna stay here till the server dies completely. I've been on this server since launch and even though I took a long break from the game it's just not worth going through the trouble (or money) to move servers to me.

  7. You do realize even if you brought them with in game credits that you would have to do it per server. Its a Legacy thing for the server not an account thing it has always been that way and adding cc to the mix wouldn't change that.

If I want to have all the races unlocked on any server I play on, I should be allowed to without paying that much. I don't mind paying for a sub but paying twice for the same **** is annoying.
