  1. So I finished leveling my Sentinel, gotten a few PvP pieces and am currently destroying PvP (gear win yay). I stopped doing Ilum as it is abysmal, I'm only doing the PvP daily for the bag atm, which leaves me some time to level an alt.

I'm picking a new class, I want a class with stealth so it's a tie between JC Shadow and IA Operative.

    1) In terms of leveling through PvE content, which class is easier/faster? (Shadow or Operative)

    2) Which spec and companion is best for JC Shadow for solo PvE leveling?

    3) Is leveling completely through PvP (except class quests) viable? How does one keep his gear updated if leveling exclusively in PvP?

Bonus question: which class would you recommend from your experience?

  2. Remember in AC where gear meant very little.

When a skilled player could take on multiple, better geared, and high level players and win.

Remember when PVP didn't consist of endless CC spam, and when you actually had control of your character the majority of the time? (best way to remove player skill from PVP - remove the players ability to do anything).

And when PVP wasn't in some never ending shoebox sized minigame grind, but in the MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER world. Back when guild politics meant something. When guilds would fight over for control of towns and leveling spots. Back when PVP had meaning. When your actions had consequences.

Back when the skill ceiling was high, when you could dodge projectiles, spells, etc... none of this autohoming crap we have today.

You know, does anyone remember back in the days when PVP was actually good?

This man deservers a medal (and not a Warzone one)

  3. As said many times, you need to kite them at appropriate times. Now I never played Shadow but I can tell you I have a very easy time defeating Shadows/Assassins who don't know when to kite.

If it's Rebuke/Saber Ward or Guarded by the Force, just go away and wait for these to drop. Pop your defensive cooldowns when the dots are stacked on you.

Watchmen have quite some build up time so if you manage to survive throughout one rotation you have some time again before we stack everything on you again.

It also helps if you're the one to start the fight.

  4. The Ilum issue is basically this.

It's an open world pvp area, so fundamentally numbers aren't ever going to be balanced, but the quest objectives require numbers to be relatively equal.

There are ways you can "balance" numbers.

  5. This open PvP zone you call Ilum is a disaster. I don't think I ever saw such a badly designed PvP area yet.

I'm not even going to suggest solutions to problems (even though they are quite obvious to anyone who isn't PvPing for the first time).

You should just dump Ilum and make something new. And think about it for more than 5 minutes before you start coding it this time.

    1. Zerging

It is either Empire zerging or Republic zerging (yes that can happen too on our server) in which case one of the teams retreats to base while other ride around in circles around Central and farm armaments.

There are no balancing factors whatsoever. No bolstering, no bonus to the underdog faction. Nothing.

    2. Boring objectives

Every objective is the same thing, destroy a few walkers to cap the point. Nothing really fun or requiring teamwork.

    3. No incentive to play objectives

Quite honestly, that valor bonus doesn't mean a thing because once your side has all the points the enemy is going to hide in the base anyway to get a kill that grants valor every... 30 minutes?

    4. Ilum is empty empty empty

Dear Mythic, why can you put NPCs in one game, but fail to do so in other? Ilum is incredibly dull, it's just snow, ice and emptiness. I thought I left Hoth 1 chapter ago. That being said Ilum is also too big and hard to find fights other than the main zerg. Most of the time we spend on speeders driving around.

    5. Daily/Weekly takes forever to complete

Whether it's kills or armaments, it takes forever to complete due to point #1.

    6. No reward for capturing Ilum, no focus time

There's no time set when Ilum should be stormed, neither does capturing Ilum provide any good reward for your faction outside the zone.

    7. No guild options

No guild base/outpost claiming, improving it, etc.

    8. Framerate

Disasterous even on high end machines. I had better framerates in AoC DX10 zergs, and that game is very consuming.

What I cannot understand is why practically the same team that made Warhammer Online PvP was able to make this abomination. I know WHO PvP wasn't perfect but it was marvelous compared to this.

  6. Agree. Ilum PvP is just terrible. Implement a way to balance factions either by:

    - giving all characters of the underdog factions +20% to Valor/XP to have some Empire join Republic

    or

    - bolster the underdog faction in Ilum with damage/heal/hp boost.
