  1. On my server there are now fights between the republic bots and the empire bots, a fierce battle is being waged over who gets access to the security chests! Epic PvP win!
  2. Its not a big issue but if they are doing it to power level and sell off accounts or to farm cash to sell it can become one. I've seen people use this method to level multiple toons at one to sell them. They give them a gibberish or crappy name, so that the person that buys them can CSR it and get a name change. To be honest though I am much more worried about the rank 14 bots in ilum that stand near that security chest outside the republic outpost. Its gotten bad recently there are 9-10 of them now and sometimes the republic bots get into fights with the empire bots and mass carnage ensues. To be honest it might actually be the best pvp in the game at the moment.
  3. Space marines would win. jedi are not exactly willing to blow up planets the same cannot be said for space marines.
  4. Not 1 good reason. Not 1 at all. Does a dps guardian not have to stack dps gear? Does a tanking shadow not have to stack tanking gear? You have not given 1 good reason why it should be restricted. Playstyle? Is the playstyle of a vanguard focused on tanking, not very different from one focused on dps? What about a sage? is a healing sage not different than dps sage! Or better yet how about scoundrel? Is a healing scoundrel exactly the same as a scrapper? Nice to see you running around in stealth as you spam off those heals! If your going to troll at least have the consideration of doing a fairly decent job of it. There is no reason for restricting advanced class respec'ing except forcing people to re-level through the content and appeasing the loads of people so set in their own closed minded little world that they cannot conceive a class system that is different from the now cookie cutter style. Also why is having the option to switch advance classes and then having to learn that new classes play style and mechanic a bad thing? Whats wrong with it? are you do against people learning to play other styles? What is the issue with allowing advanced class respec's, whats going to break the game if it happens? Nothing!
  5. Can anyone actually give a really good reason why it should not be in game? Its not like it prevents you from rolling another class. The visual appearance, class options are story lines are different enough you would still roll another class for that experience. In fact most people avoid rolling a second advanced class of the same main class because they do not want to relive all that content. How is it any different from respec'ing existing trees? If a scoundrel respec's from healing in the sawbones tree to dps in the scrapper tree, how is that different in the grand scheme of things from going from gunslinger to scoundrel. It would not take away from the depth of the game, since it gives every player an additional 2-3 trees to learn and master. People need to get over the idea that advanced classes = different classes. They are not. Companions, story lines, shared trees, base abilities, gear, appearance, these classes are 75% related in the grand scheme of things. Can anyone think of a reason that does not involve forcing someone to spend more time leveling up as a reason why advanced class respec'ing should not be allowed?
  6. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti Lando, but Lando would have never worn a cowboy hat. Give us a proper duster! Like the security key vendor has!
  7. I'm happy if there are only 4 sorcs in a WZ. 8 sorc double premades have become far to common place on my server. The average number of sorcs per WZ is 6!
  8. fix a lot of the art republic side and a lot of people might re-roll. A lot of the endgame republic sets look simply horrible. Its not just the models but the pale green / light pink and poop brown coloring schemes. Empire just simply looks better and in many cases the story lines are a lot more flushed out. JK vs SW is a good example. Or BH vs Trooper.
  9. Fudgesmuggler ((they banned this char in beta)) Fudge Smuggler ((saw it in game body type 4 male smuggler a friend made)) Pirate Booty ((body type 4 female BH)) Lotsof Manbewbs ((Body type 4 male trooper)) and my favorite by far! Likmy Backkeg ((Body type 4 JK, although I think this guy got banned))
  10. I hate huttball because victory is directly related to how many players on your team have pull + charge + super run speed buff.
  11. Yeah but my post was already a wall of text so I decided to go at it from a group role / play style perspective! Its a bit silly that when cover actually works properly it only helps us against our mirror and CC from JK / SW cc like force leap.
  12. I think what everyone here is forgetting is whether your a force user or not it doesn't really matter. They all die just the same, you just need to be extra sneaky about it. Give a jedi or sith lord some extra greasy woomprat stew, and then ambush them when they are dealing with a ""massive disturbance in the force" It may be crude, cheap, and unsportsmanlike conduct, but it works! I love being a smuggler!
  13. #1 they are fast #2 they are easy #3 they are good for cash #4 they are good for gearing companions with 126 level armor mods #5 they are good for social points if you 2 or 4 man them. 2-3 dialog options minimum per quest. Some have 5-7. That means in a 4 man group minimum of 8 social points maximum of 56 depending on the quest. #6 they give affection if solo or in 2 man group with companions out. #7 they give legacy xp. #8 they are good for pvp. Often these areas overlap for the factions so you can often get nice little skirmishes outside the quest camps on PvP servers. If you do all of belsavis + ilum as a 4 man it takes like 35-40 minutes you make over 100k credits typically, and you get about 200~ social points. They are not fantastically interesting the 4th or 5th time thru, but they are not crappy by any means. They do a nice job of helping you max out various areas, provide easy cash, and often times a bit of pvp.
  14. I think they are doing it the smart way. Before taking the nerf mallet to the individual class abilities, they are going after the stacking buffs and consumables which are being abused to a serve extent.
  15. But they have already stated rated WZ brackets are on the way.
  16. To be honest it just depends on luck. If you get lucky and get champion gear fast you wont have much of an issue. The difference between champion and battlemaster is not that huge, to be honest when you see teams owning face, they are abusing certain Fotm classes in combination with bio-chem and the consumable stacking that is getting partially nerfed. Its not the gear difference, as much as using every trick in the book when it comes to consumables. An Operative in battlemaster is going to do a lot of damage. But an Operative in champion stacking the adrenals, the wz dps buff, the expertise stim, the cunning / power stim / a surge or power relic / a cybertech crafted grenade and that has a PvP healing stim / bio-chem resuable 6k healing medpack standing by is going to do much, much, much more damage. Its the difference from a 8-10k crit + two 5-6k crits right after with, and a 5-6k crit with 2 2-3k crits after. That's where the difference is. The battlemaster helps but its not a huge difference. Next time a battlemaster is owning you in the face check their buffs. Anyone can face roll with stacking broken OP consumables. There is a reason everyone and their cousin's sister's brother's dog were re-rolling bio-chem.
  17. You can get a orange mod helm that is an eye patch. Its like rank 37~ and is a world drop. The naming scheme is "viper" something. It looks pretty awesome. If I didn't need my champion helm for my set bonus I'd use it over my cowboy hat.
  18. The problem with gunslinger right now is not that we suck its just that we have a hard time comparing to a sage / commando in PvP. As the OP stated SS isn't really that functional in PvP. With the mobile nature of a lot of the warzones, the bugs and lag with the cover system, and in my experience the fact that gunslingers are the first target of any decent premade. ((since we are the squishiest, its pretty well known now that the sorc channeled slow breaks a lot of our cover abilities, and that we do not have the escape tools other classes have)) So you typically end up in a more mobile sabo / DF spec, which you can actually do quite well it. The issues is though that the dot spec's for commando / merc and sage / sorc are pretty much exactly the same. 2-3 dots with similar damage, in the case of sorcs there dots actually do slightly better damage. We get the same damage types internal / elemental and the ability rotations work pretty much the same way. Stack 2-3 dots maybe a debuff, and then use a channel. With a few abilities for instant burst. The key differences relate to the fact that the hybrids have better access to their CC. If your running and gunning as a gunslinger in a DF spec and an OPerative jumps on you. If you want to use your knock back you have to enter cover, and then use the ability. That takes 1-2 seconds. If your a sage or commando you just hit the button and they go flying instantly. Sage / commando also get a ranged stun vs a melee stun, and the run speed buff on sage is simply great utility in any warzone or pvp situation. But the big overwhelming issue we have is that offspec healing is just to good in pvp. Its way to effective and beneficial to team play. A sage or commando is going to do pretty much exactly what I do if they are in their dot specs. You dot people up, stay mobile, try to LoS to avoid FF, and you pop out and use your channel and a few instants to burst people down. In my case I try to drop into cover whenever possible. But if it gets into a situation where I am heavily dotted up and being focused hard and I need to break LoS, if I am out of LoS of my healer I'm dead on a gunslinger. The dots will finish me off. If I am on a commando or sage I can self heal up and my healer can focus on other people. Additionally if my healer starts to get some nasty focus, if an OPerative jumps on them. I'm pretty much limited to tossing out a CC and dps'ing them on my gunslinger. Root them, stun them, and wait for my healer to get away. If I am on a sage or commando. I can run up knock them back, stun them and slow them just like on my gunslinger, and I can pop an alacrity adrenal or relic, and start spam healing them for 4-5k per crit, 2k base heal. Dps stats double for healing stats. Its really easy to get 300-400k damage and 100-200k healing. Tieing on damage with a gunslinger, who has to break LoS and wait to be healed back up, rather than healing himself back up. So our one dps tree that has a real advantage over the others, the one that gives us a lot of the really nice burst dps, has some real issue when it comes to mobility, namely stemming from the issues / bugs with the cover system. Abilities firing off but not doing damage. Being CC'd with the CC immunity up, cover lagging out when you enter and exit it. Odd lag when you try to use abilities like the knock back and damage reducer, and the fact that you have to be in LoS of enemies, immobile to do damage. Even if your popping up and down and just doing quick charged burst / trick shot rotations, your still going to be LoS'd in a lot of warzones like voidstar and civil war. So its not that we suck. We can do quite well. Its just that the hybrid classes have a real advantage at the moment. While the cover system is semi crippled due to buggyness, and the offspec heals just so awesome we are rather stuck. We are lacking something to really use to compete against those offspec heals with. I'm thinking that if they can make the cover system work more reliably, move some of those core CC abilities, off the cover system, and perhaps give us a little bit extra utility, something to counter that offspec healing. Kind of like how sentinel / mara get a heal debuff. We'd be more comparable. It's just at the moment sage / sorc, and commando / merc are so awesome from a group perspective in PvP there really isn't much of a reason to bring a gunslinger along. There's a reason you see 5-6 sage / sorc and commando / merc per warzone, or at least on my server you do. 50-75% of every premade!
  19. +1 do not forget that the story line, gear, companions, ship, and class trainers overlap as well. The advanced classes are far more similar to each other than they are apart. They are not unrelated classes in the same sense rogue to a mage would be. They are more akin to the rift soul system, an assassin and a bard are both subsets of the same overall class. A gunslinger and a scoundrel are as well, we just do not have the option to change between them as you would in the rift system.
  20. +1 I have no issue with this. It just keeps people from rerolling and helps Bioware keep better metrics on which classes are under preforming. If you do not have a lot of time and level to 50 on a toon. Even if that toon sucks you may continue to play it, so you can play with your friends that are 50. If you could changed advanced classes to a class that doesn't suck then population metrics would show that no one is playing one AC over the other, and Bioware can more easily tell, as they do with spec trees which ones are being used more often. If no one spec's it or chooses it then there is a problem it is not desirable or viable and needs a change. It also gives more flexibility for the players, which is a good thing. I know people will say that these are different classes but they are not. The look of the class is exactly the same, the leveling is nearly exactly the same, the same ship, same companions, the same gear, 30-40% of the same abilities, a shared spec tree. Even if they allowed advance class respec'ing people would still roll alts and level up different main classes. The feel and class options of a Smuggler are vastly different from a Jedi it's a non issue. I cannot think of any good reason to restrict advanced class respec'ing. It only forces the leveling of alts and grinding of content. You'll spend just as much time exploring all the spec options of the two advanced classes without a needless grind, as you would grinding up another class to 50.
  21. I have the same problems and there really is nothing you can do but log out and do something else. I've tried everything from relogging, switching groups, waiting half an hour, and even exiting the game, running the repair function, and then waiting though the weekend queue to only have it happen again and again. Sometimes it fixes itself and sometimes it doesn't. It really really sucks.
  22. I go surge - cunning - crit - power - endurance - defense Namely the reason I go surge first is that we have an autocrit move, and I already have above 45-50% on most of my key abilities, since I am spec'd DF.
  23. I have Risha full affection with maxed out + surge gear and she works well for me in pve and pvp. Once you get her good gear and 400~ surge she'll crit 3k+. I've 3 manned a lot of hard modes filling both dps spots thanks to Risha. In PvP she gives a lot of burst. She can often kill a healer pet as I kite the or CC the player character. But personally I hate Guss and Corso's harpoon drive me mad so she's pretty much my only choice. Its really hard to gear Akavi endgame due to her weapon type. Its much easier to gear Risha since she can use the same gear as me.
  24. Its a pretty standard build. Personally I'd move a point into the knock back from aimed shot skill and drop the points in bravado for dirty escape. As long as you manage your energy you don't really need bravado, and the speed increase from dirty escape well saves you from time to time. But I always keep spec with a mind towards pvp, so if your doing pve its fine I'd say.
  25. Its not a bad build but your dps is going to suffer without trick shot or wounding shots. They are simply key to any dps rotation I've found. The main issue I've found with dirty fighting is that to get the most out of the dots and wounding shots you have to go deep into the tree, hemo is pretty much mandatory if you want to use the dot spec to apply pressure to people. The extra 15% when under 30% and the 30% from hemo simply make the difference. You might want to try dropping the 31 from SS to get shrapnel or dropping hemo to get diversion. But I really feel to do dps your going to need to have trick shot or wounding shot. They are just key abilities. You could go Sabo. Its our only tree where you do not have to go all that far in to get the nice damage increases. Like the 15% to sabo charge / AoE. The 30% AoE crit damage, and the additional charges on Sabo charge. What are you trying to get out of this build though? I noticed you didn't get the improved dirty kick for the speed buff, you got burst volley but not the speed increase for aimed shot. What are you planning to do with it?
