  1. No, and when doing group content, don't do it at all!

You think you're helping the healer, while your only making any problem worse. You're dps, the healer doesn't need your help unless he asks for it. You should spend your time reducing the incoming damage by killing stuff, that's your role.

I disagree - sometimes. In a PUG, I will heal if it looks like someone's going to drop. Not every healer is awesome at his or her job, plus crap happens. It's all situational.

Also, sometimes you just need to heal your tank friend, even if you have Mako out, because the two of you are level 44s fighting a level 47 champion, and it's more important that you guys live through the fight than anything. If the tank dies, you won't kill the champion at all.

  2. We actually have a lot of ways to mitigate heat loss already. If you're a Mercenary: Speccing properly means some things spontaneously vent heat, we have the "vent heat" skill itself, and if you do Arsenal you can get an ability that lets you have a heat-free cast.

Merc or no, are you keeping your heat in the middle range, or are you just overheating and then spamming Rapid Shots while you curse? Remember, the higher the heat, the slower it dissipates. If you must blow your load at some point, save Vent Heat for that moment. Also, it doesn't hurt to throw a Rapid Shots in between some heat-causing abilities, to keep it from building too fast.

  3. I figured Torian would want in on this one for story reasons, so I used him. Like everyone's said, use your cooldowns, and don't be afraid to pop your shield and heal for a bit. If you have a DPSer with you, the damage doesn't even have to stop then, because you're just turtle-tanking for your companion. All that extra damage is great to have.

Also, if you're going to electro-dart+heal, maybe look for a particularly good thing to interrupt? You should be familiar with his hard hitters by now. Stop him from using one.

  4. A fair argument can be made that it's more efficient to just use default pricing than deal with market research through SWTOR's horrible auction house interface.

Basically this. I remember painstakingly checking the linen prices or whatever in That Other MMO, carefully deciding my prices and cursing at the random person who would come by and undercut everyone by a ridiculous percentage. So I do get your attitude, OP.

However, in swtor, I just can't be bothered to fight with the GTN interface enough to see the going price of the mats or ship parts I'm selling. So, I don't, and I'm never so poor in the first place that I feel like I'm losing a whole lot. When I'm down on credits, I PVP a few matches.

  5. Generally I'll only help with mobs you've already tagged, so they're grey. Or I'll toss a heal and a buff on you. After the fight, or after I've killed a mob or two for you, I'll wander off, though. There's generally plenty of room for everyone to farm objectives separately, except sometimes on Balmorra.

BUT if you've reached a quest mob just before me, I will help you kill it simply because the faster it dies for you, the less time I have to spend twiddling my thumbs, waiting for it to spawn for me. If that bothers you... sorry. Generally, people seem thankful for it and sometimes even stay to help me kill MY version of the mob. :)

  6. Do make sure Mako is on "Med-watch," her healing stance. She'll occasionally drop it, so check once in a while to make sure she's still in that stance. Also, if you're fighting a group, and she has one mob CC'd, let her keep CCing it while you attack something else. Finally, don't be afraid to throw up a shield and heal yourself once or twice if you seem to be flagging, or even to use a medpack.

You also might want to try using Gault or Torian for a while, for giggles. With regular groups of mobs, the extra dps can steamroll everyone before they get a chance to hurt you too badly - especially with Torian, since he tends to tank a mob or so at a time and thus pull their attention from you.

  7. So, stop complaining, it's fine as it is now. But guess for those with memory and vision problems AND are mouse clickers will not like this change.

Well, gee, 'cause it works for you, everyone who doesn't like it must have a problem? Real constructive. For the record, it's not only mouse-clickers that have to look at the gui occasionally to tell whether an ability is cooled down yet. I have a crapton of buttons down there and only so many internal timers.

  8. I think it's fantastic... for quick cooldowns. Having such a clear, up-to-the-moment visual representation of how much time is left on a cooldown can help one make very precise tactical decisions in, say, a pvp situation.

However, practically speaking, the end of longer-than-short cooldowns are not clear at all. Sure, you can tell me to know my rotation, but if I'm five seconds off, and the button LOOKS clear, that can result in me multi-pressing the button, thinking, "WHY aren't you working?!" and thinking it's lag or something when I could be hitting a thing that works. -_- In pvp, this can translate to premature death.

  9. Empire side. Is it worth it? I'm kind of over-leveled already, in the midst of the Quesh line, and looking at a quest that's sending me to Hoth. Is there any great reason to go back and do the Taris bonus series? I haven't skipped any bonus series yet, but... yeah.
  10. Would you consider giving us the option to turn down experience points, say, in Warzones? My main has been constantly overleveled for everything, so I actually end up not PVPing or doing as many space missions as I might like for fear of greying out quests. Plus, it's no fun to steamroll half the content.

All that extra available XP will be great for an alt, but on my Imp and Repub mains, I want to see as much planet content as possible. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

  11. Still leveling here - hit 37 last night - but I really enjoy being a DPSer that can toss out heals. It's that one extra thing to focus on in a FP, and it feels so much better than watching your groupmate go belly-up while you stand useless.

Not giving up the Arsenal spec anytime soon (still hoping for dual-speccing...), but I really don't get why any Merc would totally ignore their healing abilities like the OP's groupmates did. Such a nice perk!

  12. I do it for two reasons, i'm constantly slotted into huttball games with no exit buttons so i've figure if i've got to stand around and wait to leave i might as well stay and pick up the xp/commends etc. Afterall the game has just wasted 15 min of queue time for me and slotted me into a game mode i loath and cannot avoid (huttball). Not to mention the grave balance issues of being a new lvl 50 and slotted into a match against a team kitted in full gear, or a low level up against player 40+. Recipe for gank fest much??

Instead of whinging about the players, maybe take up these terrible issues with bioware and then we might make some progress in the game.

    THEY'RE whinging?

  13. I'm consistently over-leveled, so I use it as an excuse to be lazy with some things. Like, I'll do all the Bonus Series quests on a planet to get all the story, but when running around in general, I'll skirt or sneak around as many mobs as possible to avoid slogging through them.

If I don't need the XP, why bother, right?

It sure is hard to find a group for this Heroic - oh well!

Step two of that three-stage bonus quest wants me to kill HOW many Rakgouls? Pff, not doing that.

    Etc.

  14. This thread's a little funny to me, because my main is a Bounty Hunter. Her ship is cool on the outside, other than how worn and messed up it looks, but the inside's cramped.

Then, I got my Consular's ship and was friggin' shocked.

    "...Nothing's rusting in here!

"Holy crap, is that a conference room?!"

My BH feels a lot poorer when I play her now. XD
