  1. This is the last day of my play/forum time before my initial 30 day sub ends. I won't be waiting this out, hoping for a fix. I used all that patient waiting time in WAR and it didn't get me a thing. It got worse. Others have pointed out that this issue is serious and will take a long time to fix. Right now, the company is waiting to see if enough people can ignore it and stick with the game. If so, then they won't have to dedicate time to changing it. I say good luck to them and all the best.
  2. Khem Val became useless for my sorcerer as soon as she hit level 30. It doesn't matter what kind of gear he wears, he cannot take any kind of hit. The deal is, he is supposed to take the hits while my sorcerer (healing spec) can DPS while throwing him a heal or two. What really happens is that my character spends all her time healing Khem and trying to keep static barrier on him. Since Khem doesn't DPS that well, fights take FOREVER. Ultimately, I threw Khem out and now use Andronicus. It turns out my healer sorcerer can tank better than Khem. I don't think that should be the case, but it is.
  3. According to Massively, our problems are due to really bad computers. Thanks BW. http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/bioware-responds-to-the-old-republic-performance-issues/2#comments
  4. Clickers will never be as fast as people who key bind and/or macro. I know I used to do both. When I began in WOW, I mostly clicked. I was okay, I got along but I was never great. It was in Warhammer Online (a game I loved despite its serious problems) that I learned how to key bind and move with the mouse also while engaging in PvP (my teammates must have loved me ). Once you know how to play with binds, there is absolutely no way anyone can go back to clicking. But I think you know that and are just being facetious.
  5. I completed the Heroic quest War on Spice the other day as a healer. Completely unrelated to delay, the boss bugged and kept jumping from the upper level to the lower. When my group finally grabbed the boss alone, they were on the upper level with the boss. I was near the stairs, completely in sight of them. The fight began well. The boss hits hard and towards mid-fight, my Dark Infusion started to progressively get more delayed and actually misfire. I believe because I had to quickly tab between my tank and a DPS player caused some problems. I received a few error messages that indicated the talent wasn't available. Even though the cool down had ended. I even received messages that claimed that my targets were not in sight, even though they were fighting right in front of me. The boss had a nasty aoe that absolutely needed static barrier up on players near him. It got a little hairy because Static Barrier is slow to respond even though it is instant. Again, my character has to wave her arms around before the barrier goes up. Technically I believe the barrier and animation should be simultaneous, but isn't. My FPS for the game is good, never had a problem with lag. There is definitely a snafu between the animations and the gcd. They are out of sync.
  6. I'm glad there was a company update and they are trying to fix this problem. As far as animations go, I don't care about them. Not when my healer is in the middle of a flashpoint/heroic, the only thing I'm concentrating on is health bars and where the damage I'm taking is coming from. Static Shield is not instant. I have to wait until my character waves her arms around. In solo play, I can live with it but just barely. But in the midst of healing, I don't need to have my character wave her arms just so the tank can get his/her shield. Priorities BW! The character is supposed to be magical, she doesn't need to throw her arms in the air every time. Its little delays like that, that build up into a feeling that the character is moving through molasses.
  7. There won't be too much of an effort to fix this problem. I was speaking to other people in the game, and they stated that they couldn't see it. Or they told me I had bad lag. Maybe the game will be able to carry on if enough people can live with the herky jerky play. Good luck to them and BW. The game story and everything is nice. But the delays cause me to pull my hair out most times. There are a few times I tab out from attack on an NPC and I want to heal a group member, my heal hits the NPC instead. NICE. Whatever.
  8. Watching GCD cooldowns don't do a thing to help my healer. I can't be constantly worrying about where the GCD is at while I'm examining the health bars of my group. This whole game might as well be called Warhammer Online 2: Force Lightening bugaloo. I'm waiting it out until I see progress. I'm not wasting my time on it. Have fun all and hope they won't do the song & dance they did to the fans of WAR to you.
  9. They won't address it until they settle on a story to give to us. If you have any experience with WAR over the past few years, you'll know the drill. Here is to hoping they don't shoot this game in the head they way they did WAR.
  10. I hope they will decide to sacrifice the animations for gameplay. I absolutely cannot heal well through this problem. A few days ago when I did Athiss with a group, I noticed it. Then the problem kept cropping up in heroic quests. Granted some of the abilities fire off nicely. But it isn't consistent. Static Shield on Sorcerers. Use it during combat and you will see the delay. I start off my tank with Static shield. Then I make sure to reapply it whenever it comes off cool down for the tank. It is also my last minute protection button for DPS who are taking a lot of damage. It takes a veerrrry long time to reapply. Or it doesn't apply at all. So I need to hit that button again. At the very worst, it won't apply but start its gcd timer. Something wonky is going on between the clients and servers. It seems to be, as others pointed out, tied into animations being handled client side while the server is strict to gcd. Whatever, please fix it. I hung around 2 years in WAR for fixes like this, I'm not going to repeat that experience.
  11. The WAR devs were pulled into BW long after the game started its development. So not all the blame can be pushed onto them. But knowing the company that rules them all that will be done. Because the company culture doesn't seem to account for personal responsibility. Nor does it seem to encourage logical solutions. WAR had the best PvP experience ever even with the bugged out mechanics. It had potential. But instead of trying again, everyone just washed their hands of it. Here is to hoping that people care enough about this game not to do the same to it.
  12. I think whoever worked on the WoW engine was an old school coder who knew his stuff. If Blizzard still employs him they should create a statue in his honor. I haven't played WoW in many months and don't plan to return, but their game was well built.
  13. I remember that scandal. That was nasty. I'm still hoping louse was an elaborate troll.
  14. This game did have hardcore gaming devs working on this game. They developers from Warhammer Online working on their team. Who were probably so terrified about losing their jobs (understandable) that they hesitated to point out the slow casting abilities. Also I think everyone got so excited about the cinematic story lines and voice work, it overshadowed the gameplay. I didn't notice this problem in beta. Most likely because I was so happy to play it, that I neglected to pay attention to any real problems. Plus the fact that I didn't get past level 10 could have been part of the reason. Maybe it wasn't as bad. I don't know, I hope they can fix it. Because I loved WAR with all its clunkiness and bugs. And I stayed in that game long after I should have left. And i watched EA slowly strangle it. I definitely don't want to have the same experience here.
  15. Yeah, that is probably so. I bet GC and the lot of them are laughing their heads off right now. Its like a bad marriage none of us can get away from.
  16. I haven't leveled any characters for enough for romance options. I'm not interested in them anyway. But I can't say I'm surprised that the females get dorky options. We gals can't have TOO MUCH FUN. No way. I did find it amusing that the female IA could have an affair with a male Twilek in the opening quests and be rewarded light side points for it. That was funny.
  17. 2V-R8 is the emperor. No doubt about it, he has endgame boss written all over him.
  18. I was confused by this guy. The only thing he is good for is to be a butler on your spaceship. I ignore him most times, but I like his little housekeeping comments when I travel between worlds.
  19. I haven't experienced anything like that...yet. But I do notice there is a slight delay when toggling between group members to heal them.
  20. Playing as a Sith Sorcerer, I don't find the light/dark choices really that different. Dark choices mean outright murder. The Light choices given aren't really chivalrous or good hearted but more exploitive of the situation. So my sorcerer is light side but still not a very nice or good character. Choices that Khem Vaal likes are even more bizarre. It seems he only likes it if you boast about your power. So if you pick light side while crowing about how powerful you are, Khem love you long time baby.
  21. I guess you are just lucky. Good for you. I do have problems as a healer. And I've seen these exact same problems in WAR. Many of the developers on this game worked on WAR. And they used arguments such as yours to convince themselves that there were no bugs in WAR. Now that game is languishing away and down to one US server. Its a shame and a sin. I don't want SWTOR to go down the same road.
  22. As others have mentioned, I saw these same problems in WAR. That was another game with a lot of potential but the ability lag and other bugs were never fixed. The company just let it disappear rather than put money into fixing it. I really hope they don't let SWTOR suffer the same fate.
  23. I hope its not the actual game engine. Maybe the fact that there is no auto-attack has something to do with it. If no buttons are pressed the character goes into passive mode. So each press of the button makes each move reload from scratch. Plus the fact that many servers are crazy crowded and everyone is essentially resetting their characters for battle. I don't know. It just makes some encounters harder than they have to be. This isn't even taking into account the rash of dcs when the lag gets real bad. In the instances I've been in its almost always the healers or the tanks that are booted when it lags.
  24. The last guy isn't that bad. I did it as a healer, lvl 23. Luckily my group had a patient tank that explained the mechanics. This guy doesn't hit hard. His damage is mostly a dot and fireball adds. Stay away from the fireballs, everyone just needs to move out of their path. As a Sith Sorc, all I had to do was bubble the tank then watch for the dot on the dps players. You have to catch the dot before it does real damage but it can be healed through if you catch it in time.
  25. I really wish all the group quests could have shared quest loot. Its really a pain when there is gathering to be done but everything is put on hold because everyone has to loot quest items separately.
