  1. Sounds about right. There is zero options for trading endurance for any meaningful tanking stat. Outside of switching to a dps piece you have no option. I can see it being possible with mods where armoring is endurance/willpower so you might be able to trade endurance for willpower. But the argument of hp vs mitigation is irrelevant here. As for will power vs end... if you cant hold threat then you might need more willpower, but more probable you need accuracy or you need to l2play.
  2. Ok bro keep believing that WoW created the MMO market. I think the 3pm bell just rang at your middle school time to head home and watch Spongebob! Enjoy!

Wow broaden MMO market from maybe 1 mil (best case) to 12 mil. Given that to be profitable this game needs about 500k subscribers. Before wow it had no chance as it would require them to snatch half of the market. while right now they need to grab maybe 5-6% and that is entirely possible. Which is why there were able to throw 300 mil at the development. Oh i am 28 years old software developer so ya good catch on my middle school age there.

  3. This is not true.... ever.

.....That's about all I can say because you've basically just posted a lie. Anyone with any experience of MMO PUGs knows they are full of bad players and the maximum percentage of good players in a PUG raid is around 10%. The thing you're guaranteeing with no way of controlling is that bad players will be in their primary roles, which is also just an outright lie because you have no way of controlling that. The big problem with bad players: they think they're good players.

Hmm no? I have puged for 6 years in wow,i v seen tons of decent players, i v seen lots of amazing players as well. I v seen my share of bads, i v even seen bad i couldn't carry, but is a VERY small number. and NONE of it had anything to do with dual spec.

  4. I don't understand why you NEED dual spec? I mean... if you want to heal then go healing, sure it will cost you money. But I mean think about it in real life.

Ok so let's use my Trooper Bandaid as an example:

I want Bandaid to be a healer, so he goes into the army and becomes a medic. Spends years being a medic (gets talent points and becomes a better medic).

Then one day, **** he wants to go pew pew with some lasers.

Well... you cannot just take all that experience from being a medic and apply it to a soldier who was on the front line for years.

If you make a choice you should stick with it. And if you want to respec you should be charged with doing so.

(Also just because WoW has dual spec doesn't mean this game should have it. WoW survived FINE without dual-spec for what? 5 years?)

That is bright as hell lets bring life conceptual idea into a science FICTION game.

  5. Read the class descriptions and research the advanced classes and you will be able to answer your own question. Also mentioning glad this, glad that doesn't validate anything. WoW is trash.

It is trash that SWTOR is based on. mmk.

Oh while we at it WoW CREATED MMO market and made swtor possible. Wow hate is getting old.

    to OP

No it does not feel like a wow rogue. More of a Rift rogue as class over all but more of a Riftstalker/Nightblade version of it.

  6. Can i just say the the reason the #1 wow tank is stacking stam is because he already has 100% chance dmg reduction with block dodge and parry combined.

I think avoidance tanking is what the consular tank is build around, seeing as his active abilities focus on that.

Furthermore i think that stat stacking will work the same as in wow as soon as diminishing returns start to pop up.

Anywho, go for endurance over will when you feel you lack survivability. Go for willpower over End when you feel you cannot hold threat.

MT of #1 guild was a druid but ya ok

  7.

Some news, it's not elitists kicking low dps people, it's people slightly less bad than the bad getting kicked. In WoW I literally have no kick timer because I never votekick, I have enough dps so that I can simply make up for the 2 others, I have enough dps and gear and control as a tank that I make up for at least 1 dps and as healer there isn't that much to heal that I oom. I simply facepalm, abuse the people, over vent, have some laughs and endure.

But make no mistake, I endure, it feels exactly like the random idiot at work that makes you cringe every day when they fail the most basic task and never seem to get it, and sometimes worse, they show no interest. But I can't fire them. Well, a group kick is that option many of us want at work, get rid of the guy that is useless. I wish they implemented in in real life, without the hassle of having the boss protect them.

While I don't expect people to treat MMOs like a job this is not farmville, this is not single player.

I expect other to show me a modicum of respect for the time I put in, for the fact that it's not only their time being used, for the fact that they don't play along 3 AIs with no feelings, emotions, patience and without infinite time.

Contrary to popular opinion being a hardcore elitist doesn't require a basement, no job and 24/7 on the computer. I have a bloody mortgage to pay and between a job and finishing up a night of heroic DS wiping I would like to not be insulted by most of the players I group with because they believe they are not required to do anything above 1 button press and clicking some flashy abilities that do nothing more than provoke a wipe.

If you don't understand basic respect and social rules you have no place in an MMO. That's why a damage meter is needed. There is no magical elitist bunch out to get you. Nobody will mess with anyone trying, doing their best and respecting other people's time but don't expect to be treated well if you don't treat others well ... or do you expect that because you pay your sub? You don't pay it to me m8.

    That was well written.

  8. See my edit.

Edit: And regardless, it would be crazy simple to implement such a system IF they implemented cross-server LFG, which they are not.

Same-server grouping polices itself, as it always has.

I had every soul unlocked by lvl 15. Omg i couldn't roll need from lvl 13 to 15 oh wait there were no instances until lvl 17... damn

  9. When I quit WoW toward the end of WOTLK, you literally could not roll Need unless you had queued for an instance as a spec that was "unlocked" for the item in question. In what way does that not resolve the issue? Any cross-server LFD tool will have members queue as a role, thus locking them into set item availability.

In a same-server system like we have here, the problem resolves itself, as I made very clear.

Huh? You couldn't roll need if you couldn't use it. Example rogue couldn't roll need on plate. But a holy paly could roll need on paladin tanking gear just fine, you are delusional.

  10. Yeah you may want to look at my dates of kills on my toon... so no. lol Amalyth from Premo as my raid leader and co-healer.. we had our top 25 world kills lol... so sadly garbage is far from what I was in. Now... looking back in Play.. Yogg 0 light was hard back in the day,... that and Sunwell. But yeah... immortal had its rough spots but I got my black drake in my tier 7... before they nixed it. None the less... I know very well what I am talking about. Dual specs took people out of rotations and even some play. I watched people leave due to not being needed. It cheapened raiding and end game play as it was as a group and a community.

Without a doubt it altered the need for people in some fashion. Sure bad is bad... however nobody could get better if those people were not chosen due to no need.

You talking about different things. The top 100 wold guilds operate very differently from the majority. They have huge list of people sitting out for best compositions, i mean ffs wordl first hardmode nefarion was what 8 feral druids? Because that is what they usually have as their dps right?

For the rest of the guild they want to reduce wait list. So instead of having 2 dps/2 tank/2 healers on watign list to go from 3 tank fight to a 1 tank fight, they can have tank switch to dps. That is a GOOD thing for most guilds, the fact that someone in top 100 guilds got worse because he now had to play 2 spec ... doubt that bothers anyone.

  11. 1) Required Fields. These have to go, period. I need shadowsilk, I don’t care what type of item it is, just find it. Top that of with misclassified items and you have yourself a problem, huge

    2) Minimum price of 1. This drives me through a wall. To those who haven’t tried it yet. As of right now if you try to clear item price it reduces it to 1 instead of clearing the field. So if lets say you want to post item for 500, you have to do following. Clear field type 500 get 5001 then go the end and delete 1. I mean OM#G is that for real?

    3) Lack of ability to post item name into search box. I don’t want to pass typing test every time I need to find item.

    4) No ability to sell in stacks.

    5) Does not remember last price

    6) Splitting sucks, it is inconvenient hard to figure out and take few extra clicks.

    7) No automatic stacking in the bank, this is a bug however.

    8) Actions are caped at 50… What???

    9) Sort by price sorts by total price not item price.

    10) No slot filters

    11) Companions returning from missions close the window, deleting all progress you made.

    12) Not being able to compare items to companion armor

  12. The mere point of 4 man flash points and need for 25% tanks and 25% healers will make dps cry out in agony for dual spec soon enough because no one will be able to find groups. 40-50 min queues in wow with 3:1:1 ratios were bad 30 min dps queues in Rift.... This game will top them all, then again i am playing tank...

Get a guild BS answer doesn't hold any watter, 16 man operations require 2 tanks, while runing flash points for 16 people require 4 tanks... so either people need to be tank but not taken to rading or they need to sit out and wait for tank to finish with other groups.

  13. Actually, I did. Prolifically. I also enjoyed point out that in a vast number of other MMOs tanks that blinded stack their hitpoints without considering the situation in question and the design of the game itself are friggin' idiots. If anyone believes that hit points are a decent metric by which to judge a tank, they're following an outdated model of survivability.

Another one of those blind HP is pointless rtards, i saw countless liek you in wow. The fact that MT of #1 world guild stacked sta, clearly means nothing because all sta stacking tanks were rtards and it clearly didn't work. I have yet to see a choice in this game between endurance and shield/defense/absorption rating. It is always willpower vs endurance. Willpower does 100% nothing to your survivability. HP even though might now reduce damage taken in anyway has 2 major benefits.

    1) It reduces overheal, if healers feel comfortable keeping you slightly below 100%, rather then spaming to keep you alive, they have SIGNIFICANTLY less overheal.

    2) I protects you in Oh **** moments, healer stuned/interupted or massive damage spike. It also inreases healing from your kinitics, abet it is not huge but it is there.

Unless content is too easy, HP is was and will be best stat for under geared tanks to survive.

Why undergeared? Because in any progression fight you are undergeared, 3 weeks later on your 4th kill you might not need all that hp, but you dont need extra anything else either, it is a farm fight already.

  15. Even as a tank I would go with Tharan rather than a DPS companion thanks to the dramatic decrease in downtime. Since companions are dramatically lower contributors than players, even a DPS companion isn't going to deal appreciably more damage than a tank Shadow (considering tanks in TOR have amazing damage capabilities compared to their "traditional" performance in other MMOs). I've found that the speed at which I kill and the decrease in deaths from unexpectedly difficult fights thanks to having a heal companion greatly outweighs the increased kill speed, greater risk of death, and need to meditate regularly.

Have your even tried to gear up your dps companion? He does just about as much dps as me. Given the lack of dps meters i base it on how fast he can kill his target vs me when we target 2 different ones. Usually his dies just after mine or in some cases before. I saw my sniper crit for 1800, while my highest crit so far is 1500. Clearly highest crit =/= high dps but with lack of combat log i got to draw conclusions somewhere.

Bottom line dps companions speed things up a ton for tanks, you might end up with slightly higher downtime but is more then compensated by almost double killing speed. As for danger yes healer companion makes things safer. But that is not necessarily a good thing imho.

  16. Health does not directly contribute to your survivability within Flashpoints or Operations. While solo, it has some utility if you are not at a point where the use of your own abilities and a healer companion allow you to overcome any incoming damage, even from champions.

Stacking Endurance is not an appreciable expenditure of gearing largely because its only contribution to tank survivability is to increase the amount of damage you can take without receiving any heals before you die. Since default hp is so high compared to incoming damage, stacking additional endurance has little to no comparative contribution to your survivability in legitimate tanking situations. Willpower, on the other hand, increases your damage output (which is *excellent* even when compared to pure DPS) and threat, making your allies less likely to die and allowing them to DPS harder without risk of pulling off of you.

As a tank, you should prioritize as follows: (Defense>Shield>Absorb)>Willpower>Endurance. Endurance just doesn't do enough to make it worthwhile to stack to any appreciable extent.

You never tanked much in other MMO's did you...

  17. Full tank build go great with dps companion, i am runing full tank and i find healing companion utterly overkill outside VERY few in between random world bosses where i need to get him out. I survive long enough for stuff to die, so dps companions are great, for now i am using sniper, Nadia once i finish belsavis.
  18. So I have scavenging as one of my crew skills and a lot of times after fighting a droid in a Flashpoint I can scavenge it for parts, but I can't loot the resource while in combat? because its a flashpoint everyone just wants to keep going, so its hard to collect those precious resources, will Bioware ever change it so that you can collect resources while in combat?

So you can sit and gather resources while other do FP for you? No ty

  19. Disclaimer:

From now on in this post I will assume that convenience is the ultimate goal of any search interface. That there is no hidden important game element hidden in messed up search experience. We will also assume that a simple and effective search interface is slightly less complicated then starship so there is no logical problem with game having it.

Ok so as it stands right now whole trading experience is well… how to put it lightly … lacking. Lets get to issues shell we?
