I logged on to my op for the first time in a long time today because of the 1.3 patch. I wanted to run some endgame hardmodes, and before the group finder, just didn't want to wait for an hour or two for a group to form. So I dusted off the healing and gave it a shot.
My first run went relatively well; it was boarding party, no deaths, everyone above 50% health more or less the whole time.
Then I went and got my new pvp gear (from the quest, the field medic stuff), as well as a purple field medic chest. A purple field tech headpiece dropped on foundry, so now I had seriously better gear.
The next op, Foundry with a new group, was a complete disaster. Two Juggs, and it just seemed like I was pulling all the aggro. With my older gear (mostly level 48-49 blue mods in orange gear), I would pop a HoT or two on the tank before each encounter. With this group, by the time they engaged, I would get pounded by all the mobs if I did that. So I stopped, and then began healing once they had more threat. Even so, I died three more times. HK was bugged, and even so, I was always around 25% health while trying to keep the tank up above 50%. It just seemed like they could not keep aggro off of me.
The next op was a mix of the two. Again, if I put HoTs on ahead of time, I'd get all the aggro. If I didn't, then I'd have an issue keeping up. This group was better at pulling aggro off of me, but I still died a bunch.
What's the deal? What should I be doing to heal these hardmodes? My current rotation was, before I got better gear:
1) HoT or two (kolto probe)
2) kolto injection if I don't have TA. If I do have TA, first give myself stim boost.
3) alternating kolto injection, surgical probe, and stim boost, depending on TA
4) once kolto probe falls off, get at least one on the tank
5) nanotech if at least 3 people in the op are down at least 20%
When I get aggro, I throw countermeasures, shield probe, and as a last result, cloaking screen.
Am I doing stuff wrong? Or should I be patient while Juggs figure out how to hold aggro?
