    I recall seeing a lone sentinel click his way through athiss hm last summer....

     

    As far as I know as well you don't have to deal with the affliction debuff with only one player, which is what we found hardest in the instance. I'm not sure if that is a player only mechanic or whether it would affect the solo guy's companion or not.

    Alternatively, give Lost Island Hardmode a go. I think that would be a bit tougher than Athiss

     

    Yeah I like the idea of Lost Island HM. Though my immediate worry with that is Sav-Rak. Staying alive for us relies on near constant DPS for heals so running around pressing buttons and being beat on instead of whacking the boss spells doom.

     

    We can't outheal the damage for meltdown, and there are far too many stunlocks for effective healing.

    Latest video of us clearing the Athiss flashpoint on HM. Doing the last boss without a cleanse was a nightmare!

    We are getting to the point where we are running out of operations bosses we can two man with just our marauders so have started to try some flashpoints. If anyone has any other ideas of stuff we can clear on maras (no companions), feel free to drop a suggestion. :)

    Yeah dude he proved it can be done on a sent and when you get to Soa it will be even easier. My guardian heals cannot affect him, but he can heal me. Having you both heal each other will definitely make it possible. When you down it mind posting it on ExceptionalLegion.com also? I don't always read these forums but I'll certainly see it if you link it there. Consider it free 25+ views from our guild gaming community :D

    I've seen quite a few of their vids and they are impressive but to be honest I'm more interested in dps/tank or dps/dps combinations since we are running without a healer. Tried to look out for more people two manning stuff with this configuration but almost everyone is running with a healer or somebody that can off heal (unsurprisingly). Seeing you guys do this means it's possible so yeah we'll deffo post if we manage it.

     

    We're both anni specced so we can heal each other but obviously we don't share the same mitigation as a tank would which is where we have struggled trying to tank the likes of Jarg & Sorno, the damage just gets overwhelming especially when one of you is frozen in place by a probe.

    Here is our Ancient Pylon kill, we 2 Manned all the way through but I didn't highlight the rest because they were much easier since Garj bugged out and sat there to die.

    Here is one of a different sentinel and guardian pair killing Garj. This garj kill was probably the hardest of all 5 since it did not bug. I posted it once but my thread was deleted for putting it in the Jedi Knight forums too. Do you believe that?! Its worth seeing :D

    Edit: Sound quality is not perfect because I'm not at my house for a few months and gaming on a laptop. When the sound quality improves with my mic at home, my video quality gets shot for poor internet haha. Vid quality wins

     

    Thanks for the info both. We were trying to do this with two maras and we got up to the Pylons and figured we'd have to give up. Gharj didn't bug out for us though.

    Hey, only looked at the Grob'thok video. Can't comment much on most of the classes there but for your mara, unless I completely missed it, I don't recall seeing the satiated debuff so it looks as though he/she didn't use bloodthirst. It buffs damage/healing by 15% for 15 seconds; it should be used. Your fight lasted long enough that you could have used it twice. Looks like they are in ataru form on the carnage tree, due to the amount of adds that spawn rage is pretty neat for this fight.

     

    Your offtank needs to drag those annoying pigs to the boss. If they're miles away not only can your melee dps not reach them, your other DPS are wasting time killing them and in the meantime nobody is hitting the boss = enrage. Drag the pigs to the boss every time if possible and both boss and pigs can be nuked with aoes. Damage is more efficient that way. Good luck!

    I've seen people two-man this fight before, but it was always with a healer/dps combo I think; you barely survived it with self heals alone. I see that went into the fight with 40-41k HP; is that because you do not yet have optimized gear or did you stack endurance to survive the fight?

     

    Anyway, good job on the kil!! It's nice to see that there are still people running Denova. :)

     

    Hey, thanks! It was pretty close and it's scary looking back and seeing how low our HP was at the end there. We do have optimised gear but to be honest we were struggling on the first attempts and since we had more than enough DPS, we switched our usual stims for endurance ones and used endurance crystals for the extra survivability.

    It saddens me to find myself here again but I felt I must share my latest encounter in the lowbie flashpoint we all love called Athiss. I was playing my alt merc healer and got matched instantly with two mara DPS and a powertech tank. I instantly felt a bit nervous at the fact that there were potentially two rogue jumpers in the group but didn't want to judge prior to meeting them, so I hopped in the shuttle and off I went.

     

    Porting in I saw the three of them standing around so we buffed up and... nothing. No one moves (and they're not watching cutscenes). That's ok anyway, I will lead the way down the elevators which nobody died at thankfully. First three pulls consists of mara #1 jumping in to start the fights. Heal through it because I'm a doormat.

     

    We carry on and this continues to be a trend. Mara #1 tanking, mara #2 looking for snarlers with the bio skill which is fine, only the rest of the group won't wait. Tank is shooting things randomly. I'm getting whacked on every pull and being interrupted. There were some rooms where they moved onto the next with stuff still hitting me. I was grateful for playing a class with nice aoes and free heals at this point.

     

    Warn the mara if he keeps jumping in and getting ripped apart I will vote kick him. Realise I am adding to the problem by healing him since this is going to make him believe he can tank/is invincible. Nobody apart from me has said anything the whole time and I look like a nagging healer. Burning my resources trying to heal everyone at droid pull before first boss as there is nobody holding aggro. They break my cc on one of the droids on the other side. Yay.

     

    We live! First boss, mara jumps in and starts tanking. Heal him some more because I'm a mug and can't seem to find the kick button because I've never actually felt like I needed to do that before now. Also getting the sinking suspicion that nobody in the group actually speaks English. First boss goes like this: mara tanks boss, powertech tank hits the adds.

     

    Fast forward many retarded pulls which we somehow live through and we get to the second boss. About to move into position and... mara jumps in. Boss uses its knock back, me and the tank go flyinggg over the edge of the cliff and land in the midst of a pool of mobs. Great. I'll let you guess how that one ended. Next try I warn the mara again who is probably lolling at my empty threats by this point. I would have left but I felt sorry for the tank and wanted to get him some gear, with two aim guys in the group it was dropping and I didn't need it.

     

    I explain to him where to tank etc. and he admits it's his first time there. That's all fine, he stands where I tell him to roughly but does get knocked back into the corridor a little. Get issues with LOS healing and 4 mobs beating on me and interrupting my casts. Stood not too far away from DPS as everybody was melee so they can kill adds but nope... they want to whack the boss. I'm literally 5 metres away and they ignore the dogs ripping me to pieces. Waste healing time typing to them in chat and asking them to kill the adds... still no response. Boss goes down and naturally they kill them after the fight.

     

    The elites prior to the boss get pulled one by one or sometimes multiple at a time in various idiotic manners, even after they've been asked to stand with their backs to the wall because the knockback will cause them to fly into another mob and aggro that one. Which happens. Again, and again. CC the extra one, gets broken. Getting fed up at this point but we finally make it to the last boss with only the one cliffside death.

     

    Start to type tacs since I recall the tank saying he was new to this but he's already gung hoed right in there. No cleanse at my level (23) so I'm just healing through debuffs. Get to the soul rend part and it's on me so I'm avoiding them and the tank decides he's going to try to protect me for the first time, runs over and whips out his flamethrower and starts to literally fight fire with fire. All of my previous anger was quelled by this scene of pure dedication.

     

    Right before the next soul rend phase I thank him and just mention he doesn't need to attack them, they target a random person each time and will go away themselves. He replies with "I attack everything! ^^" Then leaps into the fire and starts going crazy trying to kill them. He's stacking like crazy and I have no cleanse as mentioned so I'm activating supercharge gas and spam healing him trying to keep him up when his health is dropping, he got to 0% once but somehow survived it. Luckily he stayed out of the fire after that and we managed to complete it.

     

    That pretty much concludes my experience, thank you for reading.

    Hard Mode Flashpoint tanking (50/55)

    Hi, I just wanted to give a quick update and say thanks for all of the great suggestions you guys have given. When I created this thread I had no HM experience, but since then I've now tanked all of the HM55s bar one and most of the HM50s, and feel a lot better doing them now that I know all of the mechanics and what I should be doing. I'm going to master all of them and then gradually try to get more experience in later content. :D

    This is a great thread, I've been reading it on my lunch breaks at work for a couple of days now and chucking to myself like a mad woman. This isn't really long or noteworthy but it left me stunned so I figured I'd share.

     

    I was running Black Talon on my lowbie operative healer with a random pug the other day, and we get to the bit where you can choose to kill the captain. Well, I don't see the point in killing for no reason and all of my characters are light side, so I hit the LS option thinking nothing of it.

     

    Next moment in chat I see:

     

    "WHAT ARE YOU DOING??!!! YOU DON'T PICK LIGHT SIDE, LOL U NOOB."

     

    Or something very similar to that effect, from the Jugg tank. I wasn't bothered of course, just... Stunned. He starts berating me for being "nice" when playing imp side until the DPS chime in telling him to **** and that people can choose what they like. Anyway, the moment passes and he holds his tongue for the rest of the FP as we continue merrily on. Strange people.
