  1. This iteration of healbot was deemed to help the player too much by wow developers who then "broke" it during vanilla. Healbot afterward became similiar to grid/clique in that it was a display of information coupled with the ability to use roll over macros to cast heals (determined by the player). Not a great example given that this addon was not allowed to continue in that form.
  2. I would have to disagree with this advice. Firstly of course, were you to want to, you could use the same parts as an alienware machine. Looking quickly at there i5 machine for example there is nothing unusual there in the slightest. Secondly alienware machines are considered by a lot of people to not all they are cracked up to be. Even if they are you are certainly paying a premium for the brand. Looking again at there i5 box, if I were to want a computer with those components (I personally wouldn't) I would not pay 1000 for it. Thirdly, if OP needed to replace his whole computer, it's very possible that the specs of the alienware might not suite either his computing needs or his budget. There is a vast amount of choice in computer hardware, and alienware only have 2 or so desktops. They do not ship any of the i7's that are not the 3930s for example. Fourthly and most importantly OP asked about a graphics card, not a new computer. The 560 Ti in the alienware i5 machine might suit him well. It is certainly a reasonable card, which would run swtor well. It is not however the only card that fits those parameters. The crossfired 6870s in the i7 would most probably be overkill. In short 'go alienware' is too simplistic, and very possibly bad advice in most circumstances.
  3. This is a difficult question to answer without knowing other things such as what processor and how much ram you have as well as what the minimum/ideal framrate you would be looking for would be. There is a benchmark of quite a few graphics cards here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/star-wars-gaming-tests-review,3087.html which might be able to help, otherwise if you can give more information i'm sure poeple will be able to give advice.
  4. Derren Brown recently filmed a set of experiments. One of which, called 'The Game Show' had a mock up of a new game show where the audience, who were given masks, got to decide at varying points in the show what happened to a particular guy (who wasn't aware that his evening was being scripted). Around this guy were actors, and his friends were in on the deal. The twist was this, the experiment was not this guy, but to consider what the audience would decide. As the show went on the bad choices got harsher and harsher, and still the audience, cloaked in their anominity chose the harsh option at each point. At one point, late on in the show, this audience of normal poeple were yelling for his belongings to be smashed with a baseball bat. It's quite well documented that increasing amounts of anonimity can bring out the worst in us. There have been a lot of studies done, and there is a lot of evidence out there for anyone who might be disbelieving. For those of you who arue that there were ninjas before LFD, it is far from that simple. Personally though, my main reason for not wanting a cross server LFD tool is the poeple you meet. I have run multiple dugeons in wow with poeple i've met in instance groups, gained multiple guild members and I even have the odd pint with someone I met in dungeon run. Some poeple in this thread have claimed that my considering this a good argument means I must be a lonly person who has no life outside the game. I find such comments quite amusing, but not worth responding too. Any resonable person isn't going to consider them. One of the best way to meet and interact with people is in flashpoints. Whilst some of you may not care about this part, or the multiplayer part of an mmo, a lot of people do. Server only LFD? From a personal standpoint I prefer to be able to choose who I group with or who invites me to a group without beign automatically assigned. I dont feel quite as strongly about this though
  5. This. They have already said that caps on servers are going to be raised (they didn't say when, but I'm assuming come launch). Being honest how else do poeple espect them to try and even out populations apart from preventing creating characters on a server (which would promote more complaining). As for the OP, blaming large server queues on poeple speaking languages other than english in general chat channels is ridiculous. There were always going to be (and always have been in MMOs) uneven distribution in populations of severs, leading to queues. Some poeple seem to have found a convenient (but zenophobic) excuse. It's complete rubbish.
  6. It's not this simple, you can't just add up the total population and say that's how many servers. I'm pretty sure that Bioware have exact numbers of pre-orders and where they come from. If the US has more servers, then I would be pretty sure that there are more US pre-orders at this point in time. Bioware aren't going to 'play favourites', they want the smoothest launch possible. Neither are they stupid, or lacking the ability to add up. In short, they have better numbers than us, so I for one will trust they are using those numbers.
  7. I'll probably be swinging the light saber, and subsiquently letting people die when i mistime the heal . I don't like being bored or inactive!
  8. Not sure about which is better, but spike damage generally refers to large amounts of damage in a short time (with less damage at other times), rather than a consistent amount of damage the whole way through. It's not necessarly more DPS, but it can have advantages (especailly in PVP situations).
  9. That's my plan as well, though this choice is partly becuase a guild mate has gone artifice
  10. LEaving it too late because you were having a sip of beer tends to lead to lots of rage from your group. I've tested this often .
  11. I ran similiar numbers with a few difference scenarios on the 12th. http://www.forcesensitivedruid.com/?p=54 If anyone is interested. I haven't updated with what we know of yesteday though, so some adjustments would need to be made
  12. I haven't seen much of the gear, but I would imagine that endurance as secondary stat woudl be more for those going down the tanking role.
  13. You can also use it if netural so you don't have to wait till you hit dark one to get a red colour crystal, just make sure you dont hit light 1 .
  14. You honestly believe that poeple go home as soon as they stopped sending emails? If so then that really is quite niave. If anything it was then that a lot of the work would begin. Even if you are right and the whole of Bioware is only in the office when they send out emails to let poeple in, consider what time they would have had to be in to send the first one. The community manager worked 4:30am till 8:51 pm according to twitter. Not exactly a short day.
