  1. No, the sad part is the fact that you have such a narrow view of what qualifies as "constructive". People say they don't like the gameplay and describe why they feel that way - they're viewed as haters and malcontents. People voice concerns regarding a noticeable drop in player population on their particular server - they're spreading doom and gloom. Basically, you won't be ok with any negative feedback.
  2. Just make sure that when you shout, "I hate this food!" you're facing the waiter or one of the cooks. I know that whenever I take the time to criticize a game on the forums, it's not for your benefit, it's for the mods. Hopefully someone who matters will take it to heart. Do you treat *everything* you read as a direct message to you?
  3. The bugs and other such issues didn't bother me much at all. Most MMORPG's have issues in their infancy. What bothered me was finding out that, aside from the awesome quest dialog and voice acting, this was just another MMORPG that sacrificed too much to try and ensure no one ever had to seek out others to play with. Combat is trivial. Skill upgrades are trivial. The group content I played pretty much involved everyone going all-out DPS on pretty much everything in sight, then healing themselves between fights. Boring...to me, anyway. Seems to me, if you're a huge fan of the franchise, then the game is probably an enjoyable way to spend your time. If you're just a general sci-fi or MMORPG fan, you may not find much here you won't find in a dozen other games.
  4. Well, more correctly, I received the one I had selected, I assume. It just wasn't the one I wanted. With all the CTRL+Clicking of previewing the available customizations on my companion, I didn't realize that what I was previewing wasn't necessarily being selected. I don't suppose there is any way to change that, is there?
  5. This pretty much says it all. It's not even debatable. There's really nothing else to discuss.
  6. Perhaps I just placed a bit too much significance on the player behind the toon in this particular instance. My bad. Who knew going 26/3/12 instead of 31/8/2 would completely gimp a character.
  7. It's sad that some people are simply unable to play these games without blindly following the FoTM herd. Seriously, put points in tanking skills and round it out with skills that look interesting/fun. It's not rocket science.
  8. They didn't pay any attention to their parents spouting those sorts of "wussy" sentiments (just screamed at them to bring more hot pockets), so what makes you think anything *you* say is going to stick. Some people just have a few neural disconnects. Devs, please fix this griefing bug.
  9. All good to hear - plenty of grouping with enough solo opportunities available to fill in the gaps. It also sounds like there is more to encounters than everyone targetting random mobs and DPS'ing willy nilly. Looking forward to checking it out. Thanks!
  10. Hello. I played the game just a little in beta, but I missed most of my first opportunity trying to get the game downloaded and installed, and I decided to forego the following beta periods to preserve the new experience for the actual launch. Now that the game has been out for a month, I was hoping I could get some insight from some folks who have experience with other MMORPG's as well. 1) I'm reading that the "holy trinity" of MMORPG class design (tank/healer/DPS) doesn't so much apply in SWTOR. Has this been the general experience? Are there "raid" encounters that do require more of that approach? I just don't tend to find DPS-fests very fun or interesting. Group strategy and tactics have always been what kept me playing MMORPG's for long periods. 2) Is there much character development that can be done once you hit max level? In other games, for example, there were alternate advancement points you could continue to earn in lieu of levels, that would serve to further enhance your character. 3) How much of the game focuses on grouping? I enjoy single player games, but not when I'm paying a monthly subscription fee to play a MMO. I've never understood the logic in designing a MMO to be easily played all the way through by yourself. I'm really interested in the group dynamics, and I'm looking forward to seeing how well SWTOR implements it in a sci-fi setting.
