  1. Hi I might sound like a crappy perrson (at least my poor english must hehe).Im very lucky.. My father owns an archicetch company so i dont need to work much. I basically just played games last 5-10 years without a need to be scared to make cash for bread. Im sure u dont want my oppinion. Atleast though its a bit rare a girl spent 10 years playing MMos So.this means i had a TON of time playing SWTOR and i dont regreat it! Great game and was super fun do PvP (i have 5 LvL 50s with good gear cos of my playtime) and wellPVE time i dont know as i never liked or tried it. Just one problem im running a decent computer really decent.Like decent 2x xeons from last gen Intels. 2x GTX 570 and 16 Gig RAM. Every other game it blows.EVERY and i must say again EVERY. but not this. So today just for sun i started GW2. Put everythin on max in start (synced to refreche rateetc) . And why do i have 112 -130FPS there (with 20-30peaople running around)and 20-30 here when there are many peeps? SWTOR is a beautiful game in so many ways but i get angry from how much it hurts my framerate even if im spoiled enough to call daddy when i need a better GFX ;-) Peace.. keep the truth out get aan engine that works or try GW" that engine looks like 10 times better in 40+ fights than this game! PS Thanks a lot to cust service guy that helped me so good today! Plus irish guys like you can sometimes look cute
  2. You cant ban the truth m8 eventually it will get out.. ;-)
  3. I actually wrote in my review that i expected noone would care so you are not really "breaking it to me" Wanted to get this off my chest anyways..
  4. Well that really depends on how you measure the scale. For me a 4-6 would be average and a 3 fairly bad. Unfortunately modern videogames look to be reviewed in such a way so they distort the scale and the medium is now 7-8 of score ..
  5. Well thought it might be a good time to dust off this old thread for all the newcommers...enjoy! //Kamasuthra
  6. Why would I delete it? Its not me claiming this. Its just so that out of the 700ish people taking the poll you will find that even after normalizing for same processors (for exammple i7), same amount of RAM (for example 8GB) and same GFX (for example Nvidia 560) a person running this spec with a SSD has close to half the chance/risk of reporting bad FPS as a person running the exactly same spec with a traditional mechanical drive.lso here is a thread discussing potential HDD impact with some actual decently knowledgable folks (far above my knowledge at least: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=249030 A
  7. Hi, You said that the "HDD has no bearing on FPS" thats why i said that "no there are many indications that the HDD actually has bearing on FPS". The poll shows that using an SSD is the single most impacting component on FPS. That does not mean that an SSD will solve everything for every person (you yourself dont see any improvment for example). However the poll indicates that upgrading to an SSD can in many cases take care of the FPS issues people are having.
  8. Hi, Actually there are many threads on this forum with fixes and partial evidence pointing towards that indeed the HDD and the way SWTOR loads assets from it might be the bottleneck for many peoples. Thats why for example peopl get better performance with RAMDrives. The results so far of the poll also indicates that the component with the largest FPS impact is the HDD.
  9. Hi, thats why i included videoram amount to. It gives both an indication if large amounts of videoram helps and it can be used to relatively easy filter out who has sli if its used together with the answer on gfx as the videoram question asks about total amount of available videoram on all card(s) together.
  10. As far as I know every major free poll site on the net that give you access to unlimited number of questions and filter functionality plus ability to export into excel are made in the way this site is. Its not like a newspaper poll with one question where you can see the result imediately on the net. This is a semi professional poll site and they usually works like this as companys using it dont want to show the poll result before its finished.
  11. Hi the reason for the many questions is hat i try not only to understand if the people that answer the poll have FPS issues or not but also: * What FPS they consider smooth (this might be very different between different people) * What hardware setup they are using (to try to see if there is any big numbers sticking out positively or negatively regarding different configs) Many people argue the poll is flawed due to sample size comming from the forum. Atleast the hardware part might be less flawed as it will hopefully show configs that are less likely to experience low fps. So far the biggest impact on fps is peoples harddrive. People answering with an SSD have almost half of the fps issues of people answering with similair processors, similair gfx but a traditional mechanical drive.
  12. Fast update: We now have more than 350 participants in this poll. Thanks and good job, lets get above the 1K mark in the next days or so
  13. You are assuming a lot of things my dear friend. I made a fairly large number of questions that will show what the respondenst use in terms of processor, GPU, RAM etc and hopefully it will also show if there looks to be any link between certain components and having a less good performance. You are "expecting" I will present the data in a deceptive way. Hey cmon I have not presented the results yet so please feel free to critisice me after the results are presented. Yes the poll is posted on a forum because here I can find the largest gathering of people that play SWTOR. If you have any other better suggestions on where to put the poll feel free to add that. The fact that its posted on a forum is biasing it I agree (and thats included in the disclaimer) but its not proven in any way that it would bias it in a way towards more FPS problem players participating. The fact is noone knows if people reading the general forums have more or less FPS issues than people that do not read general forums. Yes the questions are chosen by myself as this poll is made by me so it would be very hard to do it any other way. Even a poll to ask what to poll for would be written by me. You feel the questions are biased in some way well that might be because you are biased in some direction or the other, everything is biased in some way in peoples eyes. I still believe getting some data and understanding where that data came from and that the sample size might not be 100% in sync with the total populations feelings is better than having no data at all. Cheers //Kamasuthra
  14. I would say the self selection (something every poll will have as questions are always selected) is included in disclaimer 1 where I say that there are many ways to do a poll and i dont pretend that mine is perfect. I do however feel that its better with some data than no data. Cheers //Kamasuthra
  15. Hi, I plan on showing snapshots from the ongoing results updated every day or so. If you took the poll 5 times 4 answers will be filtered out unless you did it from 5 different IP adresses as the "poll engine" filters out duplicate IP adress results.
  16. Hi I agree. I thought aout it but decided it would be to many possible combinations with CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD if I also included resolution but yes You are right it will impact FPS a lot
  17. Thanks to everyone who took the survey so far and thx in advance to anyone that will take it Keep your opinions comming..
  18. Hi, please use the survey and dont fill in the info in your posts
  19. HI there is functionality to only count answers from the same IP adress one time so no worry..
  20. Well fine everyone is entitled to their opinion. I however dissagree and I do not believe FPS issues will differ widely on forums or in game in general. I agree on that Bioware most likely have access to better data or could have access to better data via an ingame poll. However we do not see that data so this is the only way of getting some data. Lets see how the poll result ends up and then we can take the discussion regarding if the result is representative or not ok? EDIT: One way to check forum sample size would also be to see how the population of high end /low end riggs look in the survey answers. If the forums would be full of people having issues then most likely lower end riggs would be dominant. Also if lets say 1% have FPS issues in the poll then Bioware is most likely right with their 5% estimate. If 30-50% would have FPS issues then Bioware is most likely off with their estimates as sample size should most likely not differ so much especially when looking at what types of riggs people say they are running.
  21. Hi, It might be so yes but so far I have seen no data showing that forum population is more dissatisfied than average players with regards to FPS. It might actually be totally oposite (like I wrote in my post in last page) as forum population might be more seriuos gamers with better than average riggs. I dont know the answer to this and neither do you Im just trying to get some solid data..
