  1. Hey folks. I have a question: what does "core" mean as far as items are concerned? I've seen many good- and high-quality equipment have that mentioned. I know it's supposed to indicate where the item should be used (just like "hands" or "legs" or "feet"), but where is this core? I've recently seen it on a Heavy Armor piece of equipment, but I haven't yet figured out where it goes. Plus, "Core" shows in red for me, so I might not have this destination available. Your thoughts? I'm aware I might be asking a noob question, but I need to learn this from somewhere. I've read many forum threads and this concept doesn't seem to appear there. Of course, I didn't read all 735 pages of general discussion threads (when, oh when is the search forum option going to be re-enabled? ), but if this has been dealt with before, please just point me in that direction. Thanks in advance.
  2. What about other types of schematics? Non-orange, I mean. And I don't mean the higher-tier than orange, but the lower. (Because higher than orange you already get by breaking down items you have the orange recipes for.)
  3. Duly noted. And makes sense too, of course. One more thing, friends: I've read on some website that the Presence stat and the Affection also increase the companion's skill at succeeding in crew-skill-related missions. Not sure how that actually translates into English. If it's even true, that is.
  4. Yes, I've heard reports from people who got random schematics, totally unrelated to their needs/class. Like a Jedi getting mostly Sith schematics. I've seen the discussion (it was on the pre-EGA forum), it was huge. Many suggestions around. Let's hope the devs address this issue soon (I suppose it'll take some time, since the game isn't even officially out yet, and there are more pressing, game-breaking problems to be dealt with). Tho I'd say this is pretty annoying a matter too.
  5. Thanks for the clarifications, Slaign. (And btw, which dev post are you talking about? So I can check it out.) I think I've got enough info now to carry me through. I won't be getting my hopes up then. I've learned this: schematics are rare, so then, rare schematics must be ... awfully rare.
  6. That is indeed a small chance . I would've expected BioWare to balance that out between players, so that the chance comes every, say, 10 to 20 UWT missions for every player. But 1/185? . Ouch. If some get schematics more often than others, than SWToR is a game of chance? Kind of like, blackjack? This is a piece of software, so there must be some algorithm coded into it. I wonder what that is.
  7. That last bit. You mean Slicing? EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read that carefully. You're talking about THunting, which is a gathering crew skill in itself. Sorry bout that, just a little spaced out right now, played ToR the whole night.
  8. Thanks for posting mate. But: - as for 3), the char needs to KNOW the schematics in advance, otherwise breaking down an object won't yield a schematic, it will only yield basic materials. So that one's down. - as for 2): UT, I've already posted above, doesn't give me schematics and I've had my companion do quite a lot of UT missions. Did you get schematics from UT (or know anyone that has)? - as for 1), are you sure schematics can be found in loot? I'm lvl20 and haven't come across any so far, neither in regular class/solo quests, flashpoints or heroic missions.
  9. So far, Underworld Trading only gives me Companion Gifts, Underworld Metals and Luxury Fabrics. Do I maybe need to raise my UTrading level before I'll get schematics-bringing missions for my companion? I'm currently at level 30 in UT.
  10. Hey guys/gals, I apologize upfront if I'm asking something that's been dealt with before, but I've read many pages of threads and haven't found this yet (and the search function isn't up yet aaargh). My question is, how does one acquire schematics? Other than with Slicing and from vendors. Do Investigation and Diplomacy give a chance at yielding schematics? What about questing? What about breaking down an item? As far as I know, breaking down an item won't make the toon learn a schematic, as they can only improve the level/quality of a schematic by breaking down an object to which the schematic is already known. So how can I acquire them? Please post all possible ways. Much thanks in advance.
