  1. When slicing was making tons of money(perception anyway) you ran around and told all your friends and posted about it in the forums. Then you were surprised to see it get nerfed.

Then the buff happened yesterday, accidental or not, and what do you do? You run to the forums to talk about it.

    What are you thinking?

When I noticed it, I kept my mouth closed. I didn't want to jinx it. Thanks to all of you that did. You have no one to blame but yourselves for it getting noticed and nerfed again.

Exactly. Bioware might have noticed the changed, but why tell them about it?

  2. Call me a dork, but I had hoped that by "archeology" and "treasure hunting" it was going to be more than just "find node- click node". So I know what you mean in some ways.

But also, when I'm in the mood for that type of game I remember that there are games such as A Tale In the Desert and if I really want what I describe above, I can probably have it.

  3. *Fact 1 (with my opinion)*

This game is an instance based game, like Guild war 1 was. Everything is instance based. Even the "open" worlds are.

If you enter any planet, regardless which one. You will see that it's devided into instances. "Balmorra instance 1" ect.

    Fact 3

Bioware said that every class has their own unique storyline, with 8 classes on each faction.

But in fact there is only 4 unique storylines. Becuase the advanced classes for each "class" share the same storyline. This in it self makes the advanced classes more as a spec then an class. Since the advanced classes also share alot of spells between eachother.

And saying "If you don't like it, don't play it?", doesn't work either. Since i don't know about these flaws before i buy the game.

Fine, but WoW is also not an MMO by this definition. Calling them "phases" instead of instances doesn't change the fact.

Fact 3 has absolutely nothing to do with MMO's. Storylines are part of RPG's whether they are MMO's or not. WoW has absolutely no storyline or RPG elements since there are no more class quests (since I get the impression that is the comparison you are making). WoW is an mmo, but i would no longer call it an MMORPG.

But now that you know the flaws, you can stop playing it. Nobody is forcing you to continue. You want to make the car comparison? Okay. So you buy a car and find out after the fact that it doesn't have an engine. Do you just keep it because you already bought it? Or do you find a car that works? It wouldn't be too bright to continue to drive a car if it didn't have an engine, would it?

  4. I'm not 50 yet, but I have 5 toons with their own ships and all are around level 25.

I like seeing the different stories and doing a bit before I really decide on a main. Also, I was off for 2 weeks over the holidays. Basically, if I get too far on my main (which I am playing with my husband) or any other Republic-side toon, he got annoyed. So that is why I have so many toons. It was either that or not play until he came home - and that wasn't going to happen!

  5. really? have you leveled treasue hunting? other day a compainion brought me a lock box with 550 credits inside, cost me 800 to run the mission. another brougth me 6 gems that sell for 150 credits a piece, mission cost me 1100 to run. thats 200 credit lose per mission and thats on a mission skill, i cant go grab nodes like you guys can.

Nobody forced you to choose a skill that doesn't make credits. Just because you didn't want it doesn't mean you should stop other people from having it. Not a very secure or mature way to live ones life.

  6. Considering said orange is a gathering profession, it definately shouldn't be making more than the other oranges/gathering professions. Slicing was making credits more easily and faster than the other gathering professions could.

So in other words, you and others with this thought about slicing didn't really want this to work like a real economy? Because in a real economy some professions, gathering or not, make more than others.

  7. 1) If I'm complaining about the service it's precisely because I like the game. If I'd like the game I was be quiting and no posting here. I want to give BW a chance of improve a disastrous service, is the worst service in the entire MMO market. And that is a fact too.

I think this may be more of what the OP was referring to. Not people who complain as much as though coming on here and complaining and then at the very end saying they are or already have cancelled their sub.

I don't mind the complaining on these boards as long as it is constructive criticism and not just complaining. Offering up solutions comes off better, even to BW, than just complaining.

  8. Ask an average WoW player if WoW got better over time or worse.

Ask an average SWG player if SWG got better over time or worse.

    Change isn't always improvement.

Most people I know who played WoW from the beginning actually thought it got better.... up to WotLK. Then it goes worse. I had only played since BC and quit before Cata so don't know myself.

  9. Only if it is a crafting system similar to that in EQ2 where you play a mini-game. Watching some sparkly animation in front of your toon's hands is not you crafting yourself. It is just faster than the whole 1 minute you have to wait and that is why people want it, not because they feel they are crafting the items themselves.
  10. well since i got my orange armor, i havent bought anything from a crafter

I get tons of commedations so i buy my mods from a vendor

ship upgrades... as much as i do space missions i dont need a cybertech to make them

i make my own crystals for my sith

i make my own med packs for my squishy alts

But i would probably just buy medpacks from the market since its quicker, than doing it myself. But why? When i can make reusable ones and never spend another credit on anything.

so yeah there is no need for anything you crafters make i cant get in game or make myself.

My items never go poof, even at 0/100 condition, so no need for a 2nd suit of armor.

    And that is the problem.

I think YOU want crafting to make money for you in-game. Not everyone does.

As for your previous comment about only caring about ourselves and not the community?

You want these items to be profitable so that YOU can make money. You are just as selfish! Don't try to come off as mother theresa trying to help the masses! You want to run a successful business and can't in the real world, so you want to do it in a video game! You want to be rich in a video game.

When the server community pays for my subscription, then I will care if you and the rest of the community aren't making as much money by crafting in a video game.

  11. I should note: I'm not a Slicer. I never have been. In other threads I've pointed out I play together with my brother and he is. He financed the both of us because sharing a crew skill (Archeology) for our crafting skills (Artifice for me, Synthweaving for him) allowed him to take up Slicing.

We're not poor because we spend too much money carelessly or needlessly, we're poor because the game expects us to have more money at our level than we actually do. And pre-nerf Slicing balanced that out, now it doesn't.

Ah, archeology. See, that explains a lot. Notice most people that talk about having 70K at 25 are usually bioanalysis or scavenging. Both of these gathering skills have 3 methods of gathering: nodes, mission, or mobs. For archeology you either have a node or you have to spend your money on a mission. I don't know about you, but I never seem to get that item I need from any of the missions and the nodes are not necessarily abundant. I'm sure it is worse when playing with another archeologist.

But on my main who is archeology I always had much less credits per level than on my alts who all use scavenging and biochem. But I never have to run missions with them because robots and wild animals are very prevalent in SWTOR.

  12. having one time sales or reusable items realy impact the economy.

What many dont understand is, yeah you might have to buy another suit of armor, or 20 medpacks here and there. But this makes a demand for crafters. They invest time and money back into the community by buyinf your resources to make more items. You can make a lot more from selling resources to a crafter when the economy is strong. The crafter then makes more items to resell to everyone else.

Right now the economy is stagnate, nothing is rolling it along. Everything is a one time buy, or you can get off a commedation vendor.

So yeah, crafting needs adjusted. All these loot items, commedation, reusable items, skill locked items take away from you just as much as everyone else. You could make a killing just selling resources to a crafter if the economy was strong and a lot of demand. The demand part is minimal, and thats hurting the growth of the economy/market.

But its all about what servers ourselves best these days in mmo land. So oh well........

I think everyone knows that reusable items change the demand for crafted items. I think players such as yourself want to own a business in this game-world and others don't care about that one way or the other. They want to outfit themselves and maybe their friends. If they make some money on the side? Well that is nice too.

  13. If you like to craft so much, then why WoW? Go play FFXIV or a Tale in the Desert. Those are crafting games, not WoW.

Or go play EQ2 where you actually play a mini-game to craft your item.

I don't understand the "i'm going back to WoW" threads. You want us to beg you to stay and reconsider? You do realize you just made some SWTOR player's day with that announcement?

  14. Most of my money from cybertech comes from selling off my extra materials when I'm done with that tier. Lame i know.

If i could get enough purple mats to make extra purple armoring mods i think those would sell. But it takes 20 rares just to equip myself. Plus to make money I'd have to sell purple mods for 50k a piece.

I think for most skills, auctioning or selling extra mats or the items made with them is where much of the money comes from.

I am considering changing one of my alts to cybertech so these threads interest me. My reasons aren't to make millions on the GTN, but to have someone capable of producing the armor mods so that my main (and alts) can easily upgrade their orange items without having to visit vendors. Will also be nice to make starship upgrades etc.

So are the items truly worthless? Or is it just not a big money maker on the DTM? Because those are not the same for some of us.

  15. if every crafting skill has their own perks..........weres the trading come into play? Its about the economy, which you say is new.

So you think a reusable med or stim pack negates the need for mods, armoring, non-reusable stim packs, implants, weapons, schematics, special missions etc? Unless the perk is an "uber" button that will negate the need for anything else, then there will always be trading.

  16.

Each crafting profession gets their own perk at max level, some of them need to be buffed there's no doubt about that.

Why not discuss how to buff your profession or class instead of calling for things to get nerfed? That's something that's been going on in MMO's for as long as I can remember.

If each prof gets a perk at max level then maybe I will stick with the one I have.

And yes, I understand this has been going on in MMO's for some time, but it just doesn't seem very smart. If you think another crew skill or profession or craft is too good, then don't ask for it to be dragged down! Make cases for why yours should be boosted! I guess it is just easier to complain than to stop and think.

  17. Quitting over the slicing nerf? Cy@ go enjoy you much less linear WoW.

Sure you don't have to grind AT ALL but you get a **** game in exchange.

There was no grinding in WoW? Maybe after Cata, but when I played that is all there was after max level. What do you call repeatedly doing dailies for gear if not grinding??? In fact, I think that was the very term for it by the community.

  18. so what your saying is BW should hand you credits on silver platter? would you also like a /lvl50plz button so you dont have to "work" to lvl your character? making money in this game is easy enough as it is without having a guaranteed money doubling system in game.

What is work to you will not be work to others and vice versa. If you like grinding and crap in game, that's nice. Nobody is knocking you for it. I knew people in WoW that did no quests and just killed mobs. Good for them.

So why go to the extreme and say this is equated with a "lvl 50 plz" button... unless you are trolling and then I completely understand.

  19. I agree ,

Reusable is the reward for all the money spent on leveling Biochem , if you remove reusable there is NO POINT in taking biochem cause you can just buy the stuff off the GTN and level another crewskill

It would be cheaper to make it yourself even if not reusable. It is not like it is difficult to level. Compared to other skills it has been rather quick and easy.

As for reusable being the reward for leveling? That is likely why people who have other crafting professions at 400 are complaining. From what I have seen on these forums, this is one of the only skills that gives you something you can't just buy from a vendor.

I agree, people shouldn't be asking for it to be nerfed - they should be asking for all other professions to give the same benefits. Nerfing everything just means everything is crap!

  20. I would personally run more TH missions if possible and try to sell the items from this on the DTM. My hubby did this and while he didn't make as much in two days as I did by switching my Underworld trading to slicing, he still came out ahead of where he might be otherwise.

And honestly, even slicing pre-nerf I made more money selling the missions/schematics I received from those lockboxes than I did from just the missions themselves.

  21. You are still "living" like you are making a ton a credits via slicing when you are not.

Personally, I only took slicing to insure I would have the money at 25 for my speeder training, but this is on an archeologist. My toons that have your profession have little issue with money even with doing the occasional diplomacy missions, but I also don't make a blue item unless I intend on selling it.

If you are going to run the upper level missions for blue mats to make the blue biochem products, then you should be trying to sell those on the DTM. You need to ask yourself "is this something I REALLY need for leveling?" Chance are it isn't, but it might be more useful for people who PVP or do more flashpoints - and they would be willing to pay for it.
