is Eve Online f2p?
No, but it comes with a 14 day free trial. Enough time to give you a taste test of it
Personally, with all this EVE talk (along with the thread in off-topic, "the mother of all PvP encounters") is giving me the itch to continue playing it again
That should give you an idea of what you can do if you put your mind to it -
Just try EVE like others suggested... after starting from the very first station, feel free to collect some free stuff to help newbies from yellow "jettison cans" all around close to your entry point.
And do not blame me, blame yourself
Oh and don't be Gallente... Being Gallente is wrong in EVE.
You be nasty
Gallente! Pah! Wouldn't wipe my shoes with Gallente. Minmatar all the way. Trust the rust!!

I would be happy to invite someone to my ship...
...If they bring the wine

EvE Online.
This game is set in permanent hardcore mode, so if you're a PvE flower child, you probably shouldn't even bother. I played EvE for 7 years, and it's far above and beyond what TOR has to offer on just about every level. There is no learning curve, it's more of a learning cliff. Starting out in EvE is HARD, but if you have the time to figure it out, it's worth it.
You can trade in game credits (ISK) for your monthly subscription. You can scam, cheat, and grief other players. It's not only approved by the devs, it's practically a profession. You can be a REAL bounty hunter or mercenary. PvP carries real consequences: you can lose or gain billions and help take over regions of space. Or, you can start up your own industry and just rake in money by trading, become a broker, any number of things. EvE is the last of a dying breed...a true sandbox MMO where you are 100% in charge of your own destiny.
The downside is, EvE requires a pretty significant time investment. Skills train even when offline, but it can still take months just to get all the basics trained. Years for big capital ships. But...you can also buy already trained characters (also perfectly legal). Initially, you'll be beaten to a pulp, blown up, scammed, and abused. But once you get past all that, it's a hell of a game.
This!
All this EVE talk is giving me the bug again hahaha
As for the learning cliff, you're not wrong.

I think that sums it up perfectly.
As the quote states, you can do pretty much ANYTHING you want. That said, the same rule applies to everyone else. If you fancy living the quiet life by mining, someone WILL eventually come along and ruin your day
Or, if you take on the outlaws life, people will take it upon themselves to defend their home (system) with extreme prejudice.
In a very clumsy translation, think of your ship and its fittings as your gear. However, if your ship blows up, you have to buy a brand new one and put all the weapons/shields etc back on from scratch. There is a saying in EVE. "Don't fly what you can't afford". No such thing as repair bills when you get blown to pieces.
I'm painting a very harsh picture of EVE, but once you get into it, you'll be laughing your way across the universe (because, that's how big it is!) when you destroy/sell/scam your way up the food chain
Also, if you're into PVP, you'll love EVE. There is no "safe" place in EVE, only "safer" places
-
Now this is some real PvP.
Not just some head banging in a set piece instance... this was both strategic, planned, and well played.
And that's why I love EVE
Always a consequence to everything you do. This event will follow that brave (foolish) capsuleer for a loooong time hehe. Nobody's going to trust him to carry a Starbucks order now

Ooops. Fixed title, sorry.

That is, IF you play any. Personally, I enjoy a big of Ragnarok. I think the progression system is pretty neat and it has a nice community.
So, do you play any 2D MMO's? If so, why?
-
Whatever you do, don't fish on Taris
-
how bout this.. if you leave or are disconnected from a warzone.. you cannot re queue until that warzone has concluded
You see, to me, that sound reasonable. I imagine other people will say "but you're hurting my playstyle". Well, perhaps a little, yes. But at the same time, (for what ever reason) you quit on 7 other people.
Now granted, you may feel justified, and that's fine. However, if the WZ is a doomed as you think it is, you won't be waiting long
-
Granted... but you're in prison for life.
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat.
Granted, but the bat got to the rabbit first...........oh dear. Just, just don't look in the hat, ok
I wish I had unlimited pudding.
-
Granted, but it only has that voice if you spill an embarrassing secret onto these forums every day.
I wish I had an Aston Martin DB-9 in white
Granted, it's a miniature replica
I wish I had a billion pounds

Along the lines of another poster. I spend too much time playing games and not doing much with my life. I need the escapes these games give me as I have very bad anxiety and depression. I can't function in a work space or public place very well. I shut down and have panic attacks.
I wish I could not be this way and actually be normal, have a job and support myself. But every time I attempt it, I tell myself I can't.
Normal is far to exercised. Like Spectreclees, I do spend a lot of time on games. That said, I have devised a way to push both games and work (and studies, if you are doing them). Oddly enough, a timetable works well. I don't mean a restrictive one, or one you even print out. However, a mental timetable works best. Luckily, work hours obviously take up X hours of my day. However, I have some work I take home. So, I make sure I place a slot for work. I don't mean X hours for work at home. Now, I mean, this time from now, I'm not gaming until this task is done!
Yes, it does mean I don't game some evenings, but so what. I make time for my partner, time for my work, and time for gaming. And yes, I do set a few times (mostly weekends) time = gaming until I set X goal
Same rule for work, same rule for games

I would love to hear your argument on this. Well..read it. And by fluff you mean vanity items right? or what?
Answer
As in, not important, of no consequence. No relative meaning. Being a game of no consequence, I put it to you, that the game is fluffI would like to point out that this is al least the third day in a row on this subject by the OP.
I would also like to point out that the OP has broken these rules:
- Always remain respectful towards other forum members, even if you have dissenting opinions.
- Do not hijack topics. Posting comments within a thread which severely disrupts the original conversation is prohibited. (in her own threads!)
- Post messages for any purpose other than personal communication, including without limitation advertising or promotional messaging, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or other commercial activities. (I think 3 by 3 days may constitute)
- Improperly use in-game support or complaint buttons or make false reports to Service staff members, including the SWTOR CS. (She reports anyone who disagrees)
Pretty sure I can go on, but you all get the picture
- Always remain respectful towards other forum members, even if you have dissenting opinions.
-
O, before we all go a step further into the realm of rights and wrongs on vote to kick + looting, I would VERY much like to point out one thing.
The OP has not returned to this thread in over 5 hours.
Enough said.

I woke up this morning, and all I could think about was I WANT MY FRIGGING TOAST!!!!!

Being a game, one can argue that everything in it is fluff....

Doncha know? Logic is frowned on round these parts lil missy.
Yes, of course. We're forever trapped in this love child of Wonderland and Mordor. So little logic, so much hate
-
2 things required to make this game more friendly to beginners
1) More patience from new players. EG: looking around, reading mission descriptions etc
2) More patience from more experienced players. What may seem obvious to you, may not be so obvious to others. If someone who is likely new is asking a question, being rude is not a reasonable answer (no matter how many people have asked it in the past).

How much does the Ewok cost? Is it an account unlock or a per character unlock? You always use the free coins as an excuse to sell more and more in the market.
Well, that's down to personal willpower isn't it. Yes, you can purchase more to say, buy a 600cc species unlock (or in this case, the undetermined cost of an Ewok!), but you really don't have to.
You could always squirrel them away until you DO have enough free cc's. Let's face it, we get a small allowance tied to our subs.
Or, in the case of this Ewok party, you could legacy your way to 40 and grab her for zero cc's
Or, if you're against the market altogether, don't spend your free cc's

Everyone but you.
Actually, I'm with Andryah on this one, so that's a false statement.

Wait, can you buy a crystal ball in the cartel shop? How much? I need one!
First, you must cross my palm with silver.
-
Seriously, stop predicting crap.
But the crystal ball, it see's all!
