Very much a textbook scoundrel romance: morally ambiguous, bad temper, haunted by his past, but ultimately a good man and a romantic once you get to know him. Nothing new really, but this sort of thing works well for a reason. It also has quite a few scenes where you just chat without discussing your relationship, creating the sense that the characters get along normally with each other instead of straining a relationship by constantly talking about it.

    Vector

His story stands out for trying to explore some transhuman themes. The scene where the IA chooses between keeping his human version to herself or accepting the Joiner personality as a whole is one of my favorites. (I think it breaks slightly if an appearance customization is equipped though, you only get the visual shift without one.)

    Tharan

To be honest he strikes me as being very close to a serial predator who uses charm to take advantage of women for his own material gain. It doesn't help that he talks the way that a non-scientist might imagine a scientist to talk, with a lot of big words but no substance. Trying to pair him with a Jedi Consular is a very puzzling choice, and you don't even get the option of giving him a long lecture on proper behavior.

  2. Quick question: Can a sniper solo Poisonous Strat, Old Enemies?

If you say yes, please post your cunning#, what pet you had out and if it was in PvP or doable in PvE gear. thank you. :)

I do these with Lokin healing. Mostly Campaign gear now but they were definitely doable with Columi levels. Heroic Moment helps a lot with the tougher pulls (the end fights on PS and the middle group on Lights Out) as you can drop a Legacy Orbital Strike on top of the regular version to melt through just about anything. Personally I blow Heroic Moment all the time on these since it goes much faster and there's not much else to save the abilities for.

  3. For sustained pve dps only, grab a couple of similarly geared 50s who know their rotations and test them against a low-level world boss (for example the robot on Nar Shaddaa), you can get about 4 minutes of sustained dps in and then reset. Based on a few attempts at parsing I would expect a sniper to be substantially behind a mercenary (and a sorcerer for that matter, among ranged dps) by about 20-30%. But don't take my word for it, try it yourself and maybe you can do better; just don't be satisfied with handwaving analysis based on one or two skills or saying "there is no way to know until combat logs".
  4. My personal preferences across a few different classes:

    - If you are over-leveled for the quests, say about +2 or +3 above the recommended range, it's efficient to use a healer. You'll have no downtime and can handle unexpected adds with no issue. If you're soloing heroics this is the only logical choice.

    - If you are at or below the recommended level then it is safest to use a tank. Unless you are a tank yourself, companion healers cannot keep up with equal-level damage from elites. Companion tanks don't really reduce total incoming damage but they effectively raise your health to equal to that of a gold star elite and you should be able to out-DPS them. Especially useful for Marks spec since some enemies knock their main target out of cover constantly.

    - Damage-dealing companions are fine for a lot of things but there are going to be some quests where you'll really wish for a tank or healer; the reverse will never be true.

  5. How did this thread go 3 pages with so few people posting a simple result?

Timed last week on nightmare with 31/7/3 marksman spec, 86 seconds for 114k hp (so ~1325 dps). Mix of Columi/Rakata gear. Did not use Orbital Strike since I'm slightly paranoid about splash damage and was comfortably beating it without OS, and slacked slightly at the end by sticking to a standard high-regen rotation instead of trying to burn energy down to 0.

  6. i dont know how it took you 3 mins to burn 120k hp....it takes me a min and 40ish seconds to burn 120k hp, granted that was playing 23/16/2 and a couple weeks ago...but still....

Agree with this, I don't understand how taking 3 minutes for 120k hp is anywhere close to a true sustained dps test. A much more controlled test would be the solo boss in EV, on hard/nightmare since there is no knockback and you can just execute your rotation. For what it's worth I do around 1230 dps on that (without using orbital strike), right in line with the quoted post, and I'm curious what other people/classes are getting.
