  1. You are most correct. He IS bugged. That is exactly what happened to me. I didn't stand a chance against him and would be annihilated in seconds. I tried leveling up, and tried all the techniques (which, later, came in very handy), but to no avail. Then, thinking this would be one last try, I went in, made some progress and then -- zip, zowie, zow! -- he was dead. I never did figure out what I had done until I read more posts in this thread. So, the key to defeating Valis: just keep trying until you catch him in a "bugged mode" and watch him fall on the game's sword. That was months, ago, btw, and SWTOR should have found and fixed this by now.
  2. Thanks everyone, I guess I was trolling--whatever that means. Duffy's info is great. I have a Republic Jedi Sentinel, Lv 39, and an Empire Sith Inquisitor, Lv. 50 From what I've read, the latter would be the better choice?
  3. Ok, I'm a nube, and if it weren't for my former companions who have left SWTOR/Bioware because of lack of or horrible support and treatment, I would not have been able to get to first base. Now, I am rather well along with understanding the game, but I still profess ignorance on finding the simplest things, such as WHERE is the Grand Acquisitions Race, and HOW do I join it? Thanks,
  4. Right, and that's what happened when I was about to leave Balmorra after apparently depleting the main planet story. What do you mean by "main space station?" Do you mean the fleet, or on the planet? Thanks
  5. I suppose, but in this case the "quest giver" was right next to the ramp into the shuttle, and would have been very hard to miss. On some other planets, like Taris (at least for the Jedi Sentinel), the "quest giver" was in the spaceport to greet me--same somewhere else, also.
  6. Thanks for the replies. That's the funny thing, it does not say Bonus Series. I picked up the final bonus series when I was finished and leaving the planet. Just adjacent to the shuttle was a quest that not only was a bonus, but turned radically into an Heroic [4] for the final stage; I don't know how that is justified, since all of the other part was solo. No, this began with a greeting at the orbital space dock, as though I was a first time visitor to the planet.
  7. Someone had asked where the Balmorran Republic trainer is. I stumbled upon it in the Cantina at Bugtown, just around the corner from the taxi.
  8. Republic, Jedi Sentinel, Level 38 I just completed all the quests I could find on Balmorra, including most bonuses, and returned to my ship for the holoterminal, and then was directed to Quesh. I decided to return to Balmorra, as I found out there were some more datacrons I had missed. When I arrived at the shuttle on the orbital station I found a new quest, one that "welcomed" me to the planet, as though for the first time. It was "From the Wreckage" at Level 32, and I was to find Agent Jago. Once on the planet, I found many more quests, that were not available the first time. Anyone else with this anomaly?
  9. I FINALLY BEAT VALIS!!! well, sorta... Thanks, everyone, for your many tips. The BEST is knowing When to use Interrupts, and against what. Someone mentioned not to worry about Valis' Lightning--true, but the other one is the killer. It's something with an "E," perhaps enlightened; anyway, it is the one that kicks you back. Here's the odd part. I failed about four times in row, read this thread, failed again a couple of times, returned here and made notes, and tried again--each time after a break to clear my head and then prepare my attack. I was ready to give up and then decided to try "one more time." By now, I was more selective when to use the Interrupts, such as Force Kick, Force Leap and, to some extent, Master Strike. I remembered to begin with a Strength stim, to have the more potent MedPac waiting, and to use my Saber Ward. This time, when Valis's blue bar was getting low, I used Force Stassis. I looked down at my keyboard to use some of my alt+# key combos, heard a sigh, and found Valis dead. I honestly do not know what I did, nor what happened, but I think the Force Stassis near the end, and after everything, had something to do with it. Perhaps it was a glitch. After reading of all of you who had problems, and the few that said he was easy, I am now inclined to think this particular match-up has a glitch. In any case, I graciously accepted victory and got out of Dodge. Hope this helps some of you. folsombob (among other characters)
  10. It is really annoying having to fight the same fore 3 or 4 times in the same mission. For example, fighting through a cave full of bad guys to find and defeat a Gold. Having completed the mission, I try to exit the same tunnel only to find every foe I had just vanquished has respawned and I have to fight them all over again. Sometimes I simply Quick Travel out, but that is not always a good option. Seems to me, there should be a greater lag time before the respawning. Thank you, folsombob P.S. 11. Hmmm. Humour of the Dark Side, eh? Speaking of ultra traditionalists, perhaps he is really of an islamic or hassidic jewish heritage. Why do you -- and those as yourself -- feel brazen and entitled to mock christianity? OR, is it because you feel safe to so do...? Next time you mock the christian -- or the republican, for that matter (remember, obama and biden are "christian"), think of a dull knife slowing carving off your head while you scream an eternal scream. Then think of some other religion that, when mocked, would so do just that. BTW -- there are lots more liberal christians than just the above mentioned two. Why must you think that christians are strict traditionalists, and conservative/republicans. Hmm. Just a casual thought.
