  1. Bioware is already getting bad publicity and complaints around other game forums for this. It's so bad, people are even singing the praises of SOE and their cash shop policies.

    It's ridiculous.

  2. I think if BioWare would just give people who buy anything from the cartel market this reputation instead of dropping it randomly in those packs would have been better. Would then feel more like a reward program.

Now this I would be ... relatively okay with. It'd be far, far better than how it actually is now, but I'd still prefer there to not be a buyable rep in the game, IMO.

  3. The second of the BH sets is designed to mimic Dengar from ESB. (Empire Strikes Back) And a similar set can be seen on an NPC on the bridge of the Ziost Shadow on the Imperial Fleet.

However, I agree that in general, their gears/armors suck terribly. So, so, so badly. It's one of the few things I actually complain about. I hate most of the gear designs and wish they'd take several design looks from Star Wars Galaxies. I say that because there were just SO MANY clothes.

One other point. Most people look to Han Solo as their smuggler icon, NOT Lando Calrissian, STOP GIVING US CAPES!

  4. KoTOR 2 is far, far more awesome with the cut content re-added. The game makes far more sense too. LucasArts shouldn't have pushed it out too soon like they did.

Also, KoTOR 1 and 2 being $2.50 now and comparing them to Makeb is trollish and silly. They're almost a decade old, each. Seriously people, get a clue.

  5. I agree, but something I'd like to see change is that 'strong' and 'boss' level mobs get changed in the 'bonus' kill counts. Strongs become worth and Bosses become 3, since groups are designed that way in general they way they have them spawned, it'd make things easier.

But, I agree, there's far, far too many mobs in some places.

  6. I'm fine with the current boxes on the Cartel Store, and I've voiced several times my displeasure with the practice. My issue comes from the way the boxes are used in Star Trek Online, where you can get boxes to drop in normal play, and they'll fill your inventory but the only way to open them is by buying keys from the store. Add in that there are 'rare drop' crystals that come in those boxes that are then used as currency for other -Cosmetic!- items elsewhere in the game and it becomes a major, major problem. When the boxes give from 1 to 10 crystals as rare drops, and they only redeemable in 75 to 300 stacks ... you get my point, it becomes an intense waste of real money for these items. That's what I DO NOT want to end up happening here in TOR.
  7. Same thing I've said in other threads, give us STAR WARS looks, not crappy fantasy garbage. Give us similar styles to what we have, but spread out the color palettes, or open the Rep/Imp 'specific' looks to the other side.. just... stop being so damned restrictive. I -hate- that about games. I really do.

I know, this isn't SWG, and I'm not asking for a return of SWG.. but.. could we get some variety in clothing similar? I know we're not going to get layered clothes or anything but... geez, I really miss my low-cut dress blouse+simple vest combo with black slacks and - while i'm on this, BLACK BOOTS where the heck are black boots? Why can't smugglers find any anywhere? - black boot combination that I used to wear in SWG, it was different, but close to Han's look and it looked great.

    *sigh*

  8. I want a style option, or some kind of expanding on the mod system.. it's really annoying when you come from a game that has SO MANY options for customization. I'm one of those people that has 30+ costumes per character in Champions Online, most are just 'day-to-day' things for clothing options.
  9. So browsing the 1.4 info over various sites I came across a picture of the new tier gear and just facepalmed.. hard.

    Seriously Bioware? Just.. lol..

This is ridiculous. Seriously? We're playing STAR WARS.. cater to the FANS not the fantasy MMO crowd. They're not going to stay around! Be true to the universe and you'll keep more of us happier.

  10. I don't see any problem here. Let people who want to spend tons of money on vanity items spend their money. It will keep the game afloat. I think there is a problem with charging for actual new content however (Makeb, level cap increase, operations/FPs/warzones, etc. as opposed to vanity items). That's just milking and betraying the trust of your already loyal subscribers.

I think the first option is very realistic to keep the game afloat. I work at a AAA game studio and although I can not disclose much, it's clear to see that a very small portion of the playerbase (5-6%) can, and do contribute as much as 50% of total profit solely through vanity microtransactions. People like spending money on things they see the value in. People don't like the feeling of being required to spend money just to be on equal footing with others. Include me in that small percentage of subscribers - I am not very stingy and I'd give pretty much anything to wear outfits like the Sith, Jedi, or Bounty Hunters in the movies.

I'm with you here, completely. This is the model they need to follow and stick with and I'll be dropping money -all the time-. Change it to something else or whatever and there's no way I'll keep playing, Star Wars or not.

  11. Heh heh. I can tell them exactly how to monetize it.

    Step 1

    -SNIP-

[*]Add new lockbox drops to all loot tables. Make the drops fairly frequent - at least one per hour of average adventuring / daily quest farming. Make the lockboxes give a modest number of credits and on-level green items 99% of the time, slightly higher credits and an on-level blue items 0.5% of the time, and use the last 0.5% to ramp up from level 50 purple equivalents to one tier below top-tier raid equivalents. Put keys in the cash shop (exclusive to the cash shop) that unlock these boxes. Charge cartel coins such that a subscriber's allowance could get them ~25 such keys per month. Make the boxes bind to legacy. On second thought, make them unbound. More of them are more likely to be unlocked that way. People who won't spend the coins on the keys to unlock them will post them to the GTN for others who will gamble. Back to key price, start sort of high and monitor how many boxes are getting destroyed. The goal is to optimize key price such that the largest possible number of boxes are being opened rather than destroyed. You may also want to include a chance at a super-special item, like a speeder model that can be found nowhere else and the rider cannot be knocked off of. Make this exceedingly rare, like 1 in 100,000 or tougher. Make the drop unbound so it can be sold on GTN. Do not tell people it's in there. Wait until someone finds it, then the forum crowd calls bullsh__ on the person who found it, then have your forum team post that it's true - that's possible to get. Keys will sell like mad and no box will ever be destroyed after that.

[*]Add a holocron/datacron that grants a 5-20% bonus on credits gathered while adventuring for a duration of 1-2 hours. Charge enough for this that a subscriber's monthly allowance can buy maybe 10 of them. Monitor usage; ignore forum outcry.

    -SNIP-

No. I was with you till THIS. No, not just no, &^@% NO. No lockboxes. I -hate- lockboxes and quit STO even with my Lifetime sub and having spent lots and lots and lots of money in thier store. No, No lockboxes. Screw damned lockboxes.

  12. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's really annoying. You get a group and sometimes have to wait forever while the group assembles to do a Heroic or take down a World Boss.

So, suggestion - Give the tech classes - or everyone if you really want, an ability for a 'Portable Transponder' that you can use to Quick Travel to a group's location. The 'down side' is that it uses the QT cooldown, so you can't really abuse it to jump all over everywhere.
