  1. I know its your opinion but I totally disagree. I love the old republic story. The only reason I bought this game was because I wanted to see what happened after Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. I bought the Revan book bioware released, I've read a few of the comics and intend on getting more. I think the star wars films are great but I love everything around them so much more, no matter what medium its told in. I suppose its just down to what you enjoy the game for.
  2. Story is a big part of this game. In most MMOs there is story, but its an overarching thing not relative to which character or class you pick. Because this game has such diversity in story as well as gameplay for each class I really enjoy discovering what happens to each character. It's just a shame that levelling Alts is just as painfully slow as levelling your first character. Legacy offers a measly boost in exp for your alts, it might be nice to get something a little faster just so I can experience the new gameplay style and story.
  3. Thanks for the info. It may sound extreme to some but I feel your pain. With MMOs being such a social game appearance is an important part of it to me. I have a lot of fun making my characters look individual and the way I want them to, its just another enjoyable factor of the game for me. It's just a shame that things like tiers force you to have armour that looks the same as everyone else. SWTOR does attempt to break this with customisable armour sets, but like you say, orange sets are limited and switching mods out of tiered items can be a very expensive process. But still, we're getting there. I know mentioning WoW in these forums often seems to rub some people the wrong way but they're doing something right with their new feature to change the image of armour sets to ones previously owned. Maybe it would be nice for synth weavers to have the ability to change normal armour into customisable armour, just for the sake of appearance. Heh anyway perhaps there wasn't a huge point to this little discussion, but its nice to hear some opinions of like-minded people all the same .
  4. The new image on the homepage at the moment and the one on the preloader shows a Sith next to the new HK companion droid. The armour set that the Sith is wearing looks really awesome and I was wondering if it was in the game yet or something that's going to be added? If its already in the game, does anyone know what it is and if there's a Orange version of it available?
  5. I've recently been working on getting the Elder Exemplar set. The chest piece looked pretty cool and I like a lot of the wrapped cloth style armour. When I got the set though the colours are all off from eachother: http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll1/cart00nking/elderexemp.jpg Kinda disappointing and using "unify colours" makes no change because they are already a set. Why the heck don't they match up? Are there any other customisable sets that look similar to this? I saw a purple one, but with my character being a red skinned twi'lek the colours kinda clashed.
  6. Before I totally agreed with this, but now I'm beginning to realise that the age old tank/healer/dps system actually gives depth to the game. I recently played the GW2 beta. Now mentioning GW on this forum in general seems to be taboo but hear me out. I was a big fan of GW1, which somewhat used the healer and tank system and when the developers talked about GW2 and the removal of some of the standard MMO systems, healers being one of them, I was really happy. However my excitement was soon killed when I played the GW2 beta. Having the class styles removed seemed to kill the individuality of each class and the choice that the player has. I tried almost every class in an attempt to find one I enjoyed but apart from ranged vs melee almost every class was the same. I started to realise that healers, tanks and dsp not only give the game structure but individuality and interest to what your doing. I understand this system needs some tweeking or some changes to give some interest back to the MMO but class styles I feel are a necessity. I almost always pick the healer class, because its the style I enjoy. Without it and tanking everything just seems flat and uninteresting.
  7. Like THIS or THIS. I think its bad that Lekku still clip horribly with most weapons/gear. Why not give them physics/structure that forces them around weapons/gear naturally. I was also surprised that you werent able to choose the way your twilek wears their Lekku. Being as its a big part of the lore and the older star wars MMOs had the option.
  8. The lore states that Jedi and Sith can use all colours, they are individuals and can do what they will. My memory of the lore specifics are a little sketchy but from what I can remember the sith are often make synthetic crystals, which normally yield a red crystal (but not necessarily all of the time) and following a certain battle all but green and blue crystals became difficult to obtain for the Jedi. Which is why each side is often seen with their "standard" colours. The lore has never restricted ether side to any specific colour. Though I believe many later sith make their lightsabers red out of tradition of their order (I think Sidious told Anakin to make a red saber to follow this tradition when he became sith. ) The films may have restricted lightsaber colours so that simpletons can understand whats going on... (Green and blue = nice, red = naughty hurrrrrr) but the lore is open to any colours. As for the game I think it should make each sides native colours easy to obtain, with the opposite sides colours and rare colours more difficult to acquire. Thats what I think fits the lore best anyway. And it would keep people happy, as most of what you see would be standard. Someone who knows a bit more than I do can correct me / fill in the gaps. But Im pretty sure that the lore has always been open for anyone to have whatever colour they want.
  9. Yeh I said it and I'm genuinely curious now that the legacy update has arrived and you can make your own family tree. It's a bit of the lore I'm unsure of and don't really know much about. Can different races in the star wars universe interbreed and have children? If so are the children cross breeds or just the race of either their father or mother? I just want to know as to keep my legacy realistic to the universe. Keep it sensible people .
  10. So I've just hit level 50 and just like any persons priorities should be, rather than gearing up and getting ready for raids my main concern is getting an armor set that looks nice . Obviously the tier armors look nice for both PvP and PvE but a lot of the basic orange armors from leveling up look really nice as well. And with the joy of orange items and modding, those low but really nice looking sets can be leveled up. Trouble is, I cant find a full set of armor at all! I just have this mismatch of oranges Ive picked up while leveling up. I'm sick of looking like I fell out of a Sith charity shop. So my basic question is; is there anywhere I can look to find out where to get a good viewing of all the orange sets available and find out how to grab them? Torhead and Darthhater are alright but can be quite hard to navigate and dont really have the information Im looking for.
  11. Ahhh I see, so the crystals were on offer to drain some money and the white crystal was a sort of bonus item for those who had the money at the time. That kinda stinks though doesnt it. Doesnt it trivialise those who got the magenta crystal legitimately being as you could have just bought it. The white crystal makes sense I guess, those who have the money, get the reward. Thats fair enough.
  12. What I'm trying to understand is why were they added in the first place? Why were hard to gain crystals suddenly on offer to be easily bought and then this feature removed again. Just seems weird to me is all.
  13. Not leveling my character very quickly, I seemed to have missed the high level stuff that happened before 1.2. Whats confused me most is the disappearance of the geologists in 1.2. I understand it was quite difficult/impossible to acquire some of the rare lightsaber colours (Like purp, mag, white etc.), planet hopping, bossing killing and so forth. Then (As far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong) the geologists suddenly had these on offer for credits instead? And now in 1.2, the geologists have vanished 0_0. I'm a little lost has to what the reasons behind all that were. Difficult to acquire crystals suddenly on offer for money, which kinda sucks imo. Then the vendor just as suddenly disappears. So confused right now, can someone explain all that to me?
  14. Is there a difference between Zez-Kai Ell's double bladed lightsaber and the truthseeker? Obviously they have different initial stats but when the mods are stripped is there any difference? Both have the same 2 model variants (here and here) So apart from base stats and the name, any difference between these two? I just want to be sure as the crafting materials for both are pretty rare/expensive.
  15. Every big game or MMO always develops a great wiki over time. I can find literally anything I need to know about older MMOs I played like guild wars and WoW, via there most popular wikis for them. But Star Wars seems to be pretty spread out at the minute. The official wiki is pretty bad and lacks a lot of detail and many of the other wikis are detailed in some areas but not in others. Obviously a lot of this is due to how young the game is at the moment. But whats the best site to get detailed information at the moment?
  16. Well she says that she wants to conquer all the rakata so that her "children" (ie every other race) will go free. Thats the impression I got anyway.
  17. I suppose this contains minor spoilers for inquisitors that havent passed belsavis. Ok so when you enter the mother machine, the machines AI greets you. It says it will heal you if you first set it free from the machine. This gives darkside points. The alternative for light side points is to not set the machine free and force it to rebuild you using a key a rakata gave you previously. I really dont understand the dark/light in this decision. Freeing a machine who begs you to help it escape is evil and forcing it to remain in the machine to aid a race who considers all other races to be their slaves regain their force powers is a light side choice. I dont get it, even the sith ghosts within your body say its "machine with with fake emotion created by subroutines" and that you should force it to work for you. Yet thats the light side decision. Am I missing a point here? Why is enslaving the machine good and freeing it evil?
  18. EDIT: My mistake, apparently it takes a few seconds after modding for the armor rating to scale upwards.
  19. So basicly, putting the looks of items aside. I could fill my character with orange items from koribban, the first flash points and low level planets and as long as I have the mods from high level weapons (Which are relatively easy to come by using the crew skills Ive chosen) I can have consistent top level gear. I guess the next question is; what is there worth getting in the higher level areas? Apart from looks I can take any orange drop and it be top tier. Why even bother getting high level items?
  20. Im a little confused as to how orange weapons work, obviously I know their modable but I found out just yesterday that the base stats of orange items scale with the mods that are in them. So my question is, can I take an orange weapon I found at the start of the game and an orange weapon Ive found end game and scale the starter weapon up to the same stats as end game weapon? If so, thats an interesting concept. Because I might go back to all the low level areas that I consider to have the best looking armor and weapons and scale them up to my level with mods.
  21. This is a problem I have. I play a sith shadow and a jedi sage. For my jedi I want to do good, but sometimes I lie to help people or kill to protect people. This gains me dark side points. Similarly I kill those who oppose me as sith, but those who dont have to suffer I kill quickly or leave alone which gets me light points. I hope I can develop this mindset also. I want to enjoy the story like I did when I played Kotor. Hopefully bioware will see that there are people who want to play like this and give more options. For now, I'll just do things how I want. I dont feel like being neutral is any harder or easier than going full dark or light, its just based on the decisions you make after all.
  22. This is so true. I was just thinking back to the previous bioware game kotor and some of the characters in that. Revan walked back and forth across the line many times and there were other characters like Jolee who remained neutral and hated the specific light and dark sides. And thats just in that game, there are so many awesome characters in the SW universe that ether walk the line or jump back and forth.
  23. I just play the game how I feel. I make decisions based on what I want to do and dont let the side I'm on or path I "should" be taking sway me. Because of this with both my Jedi and Sith characters Ive ended up round about neutral. Whenever I play flashpoints on both sides people seem to get mad at my indecisiveness and tell me I should "Go play sith/jedi if you want to be bad/good". The truth is my character stays at a sort of "neutral good". Like post-film Luke Skywalker when he restarts the jedi temple, I want to be good person but make decisions on whats right and not good/bad. But Im getting to a point now where I feel like thats going to start to punish me later in the game. More and more weapons are appearing saying "Requires dark/light level X" and even though I want to play the game my way, I dont want to have a horribly sluggish and grinding end game because I couldnt make a decision. So anyway enough explaining . Heres my questions; Whats neutrality like end game? Whats the dark path like for jedi? Whats the light path like for sith? I get a lot of people saying staying the middle is stupid, but then they have no reasons to back up there comments. I just want some good, informed advice if anyone can give it. Thanks
