  1. Hi. I'm currently levelling two Agents, one op and one sniper. The sniper is higher level and I've been using primarily Skill Armoring, Mods, etc to max his cunning. Since he's supposed to be a glass cannon the lack of endurance doesn't bother me. However, my operative healer I'm confused which prefix to use. The Patron prefix offers more endurance increasing my survivability, but has less cunning so less powerful heals. Which one should I go with on the operative? Maybe a mixture of both? The choice would be more obvious if there were a cunning tank spec, but there's not, so I'm confused with the Patron option.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. I'm not positive but I think it's a recent addition. I seem to remember it making new stacks early on, and it annoyed the heck out of me. Now it only does it when the added stack would cause the cargo stack to go over 99.
  3. As to always looting everything, I didn't know there was an option besides having a full inventory. I've tried double clicking on a single item and right clicking, but it doesn't appear you can cherry pick the loot window. The only times i've failed to loot everything was with full bags.

Also, as mentioned sending companions on missions costs money. I almost never send them on gathering skill missions unless I'm desperate, because nodes are everywhere. The support skill missions you have no choice but to pay (investigation, diplomacy, etc) so I generally don't keep those current to my level and pay when I can afford it.

And don't buy ability upgrades to skills you never use. Like as a sniper, I don't upgrade some of the melee abilities I rarely use and save a bunch of credits.

  4. way to insult people without knowing what the hell you're talking about. Biowares "increased caps" caps a server at about 1.5k people. both sides COMBINED. Go through the zones and check how many people are one of those heavy servers. 300ish imperial fleet / 180ish republic fleet on mine at prime time. other zones 120ish for lvl 10-16 planet, 50-60 people per planet up till belsavis, then it drops to 25ish for pubs and 40ish for imps. Corellia 25ish both sides at most time.

eidt* oh lets not forget quesh, 9 people republic side, 15ish imperial.

The population cap is CRAP. its half what a normal MMO server population is.

Holy crap! I'd kill for numbers like those. During peak hours on my server, Imperial Fleet has maybe 50 people. Dromund Kaas maybe 60 and planets like Ilum and Belsavis have 10 if you're LUCKY. And I certainly didn't rush to 50. Took me a full month.

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one to die alot to this. It took me about 15 tries. The only thing that kept me trying was the fact that on about 6-7 of the tries, I'd have killed him if I could have shot first. They were that close.

I was 32 Marks when I did it last night. You basically have to sacrifice your companion, by letting them engage and then passive until they're off the dais, then reengage. I used Vector because it's a dps race basically. And you have to save an interrupt for his channeled heal.

  6. Ok thanks. As long as I haven't been ignoring a key debuff, I'm ok with that. I had relegated them to the pvp aspect of the game when I first saw them, but wondered what I was missing come endgame.
  7. Well, when you skip any other skill, it doesn't show you the next rank until you purchase the last one. IE there's only one "slot" on the vendor for that skill. I wouldn't imagine speeder piloting is any different.

Also, in addition to the speed increase, you get increased knockoff protection.

  8. I've noticed that every class has at least one ability that affects opponent's movement speed. However, having gotten to 50, I haven't seen one mob try to run away and very few melee mobs will walk/run toward you as they have some other gap-closer.

So my question is, does something like Force Slow affect attack speed, casting time, or rate-of-fire? Or are they strictly pvp abilities?

I think if they DO count against attack/cast speed, it should say so in the tooltip.

  9. First, I'd like to say it's called the GTN not GTM or GTC or any other GT.

Second, while I'm not level 50 yet, I have already gave up on most of my crafting because the quest/commendation gear is so much better and much less expensive to acquire. The craftables available at level 10 were great, so much better than quest items, but quickly deteriorated from there. It's practically impossible to keep a crafting current without significant farming time due to the quantities involved. I hope to finish levelling my crew skills at 50 once I've done all my major spending, but if nobody is going to buy them, that will be a problem. I've heard that top commendation gear is far better than the best purple craftable, and that doesn't even require flashpoints, just daily heroics.

In short, I agree with the OP that the professions are out of balance and thus leaving a huge void in player to player transactions.

  10. I did Quesh at 38, which seems level appropriate, and aside from Lord Cineratus who rolled me a couple times, I had average difficulty with the rest. I have triple WW which I'm finding I have to use more on regular packs to my disappointment. On bosses like Lord Cineratus, I just DoT them up and shield/heal Khem non-stop. If I get Khem back to 60% I'll refresh the DoTs, but I actually do very little damage to them. I suppose I'm agreeing with the OP. I'm finding survival is more about healing my companion than actually dpsing. Is there any way around that?
  11. I can't speak specifically to Trooper, as I am Empire, but I've noticed that the Jugg and Powertech don't get their "threat" stance until level 16 I believe. Until then, you just have to outdps the group to get aggro. In that case, and in general, they should be giving you 5 seconds alone on the mob(s) to gain threat before they start in. Even once you do get the threat stance, people should give you time to build as it's easy to peel aggro. Eventually, you will get abilities that are specifically listed as being "high threat". Those are your primary attention getters.
  12. Its not even about profit at this point, i am 4/5 columi, there's not a single thing in synthweaving i would want to make for myself that i would ever use again.

And those reuseable stimpacks and medpacks as a tank just seem far to practical to pass up. I personally dont know what you were thinking, creating a crafting system where everything is better, and far easier to obtain. This is actually the first game ive played where the best in slot gear comes from a vendor. I guess nobody needs or wants the excitement of earning that unknown boss only drop that must be earned by farming an instance.

Ive crafted about 300+ items in an effort to proc the blue and the purple version most of which still sit at their green starting point, so i found myself wondering what is the point.

Ive realized there is none, time to get rid of it.

Ive yet to see a single dev response about crafting anywhere, not beta, not post launch, not prelaunch. Its obviously not even an after thought, they have given it no thought. Might as well just go with the only practical trade skill out there, biochem.

And no, this is not a cry to nerf biochem, god no, for the sake of crafting sanity one of the 6 tradeskills has to be useful.

You know that to proc the blues and purples you have to reverse engineer right? Just making an item won't proc an upgraded recipe. But yes, I agree that crafting should be more important than vendor goods.

  13. I have a couple of questions about companions that I didn't see answered in the first dozen pages.

I noticed all companions alignment scale is set to zero. Does that mean they are all neutral or are they tied to yours? Meaning, can I equip them with alignment gear of my own rank? For example, Ashara Zevros is a Jedi (light, presumably) but her scale reads zero (neutral) and I am Dark 4. What gear can I equip to her?

Also, what do the ranks of companion gifts do? Is Rank 2 3x more effective than Rank 1 for being 3x more expensive? Or is there a certain level of affection that Rank 1 becomes useless/diminished?
