  1. Emergency maintenance is an...emergency. if there's an urgent issue you don't always have time to give a lot of advance notice or provide detailed information.

    Get. Over. it.

It's not some diabolical plan to drive Europeans away from the game.

Although Biowares approach to maintenance and how it affects the EU is a major contributory factor in my decision not to resub for now.

  2. ......................................

Either Bioware have been lying to us all from the start and they are just a money grabbing developer or this actually isn't a Star Wars MMO.

The sad fact is im not sure which one of those it is...

It may help to rewrite it as:

Either Electronic Arts have been lying to us all from the start and they are just a money grabbing developer or this actually isn't a Star Wars MMO.

I still want to believe in Bioware, the creators of so many games that have given me so much fun

  3. Yea, if you didn't spacebar through the story you'd know that Keeper tells you to lose the accent when going undercover to not give away your Imperial ties. It's on purpose.

You are making an assumption that is quite incorrect. I have never spacebarred trhough the story, just must have missed that bit of dialigue to an outside distraction. Thank you for the rest of your comment though.

  4. Um yeah, your logic fails, You have a space ship, why not use said ship to fly over and get the lay of the land. lol

I raise your logic by a lol:

It is a prison planet and when I tried a fly over I was chased off and told to land on the orbiting station and use the shuttle. Lol(2)

  5. I must be a bit odd, but I have enjoyed the challenges of getting around the map on Belsavis.

It is not that hard to work out, and it is a refreshing change from the feeling that I am actually a carriage on rails, which most other planets have felt like.

For the RP; why should we have a clue about the way a planet is laid out? Unless we are given a detailed map before we go planet side, which we were not?

Don’t be lazy and look for everything on a plate, there are few challenges in this type of game, embrace one of them :D

  6. LOL, why do people buy MMORPG games when they are looking for something else? I mean really, you basically bought a game called "Chess". You can use anything you want for the pieces, anything you want for the board, but in the end, the game is still going to be chess. Why do you expect the game to be any different? Do you expect to tune into a Football game to see chickens and chimpanzees sewing a friendship quilt? Based on how disappointed people are in this game, people obviously expected something other than an MMORPG. Next time you want to buy an MMORPG, go to your local game store, put the contents of Left 4 Dead into the Guild Wars 2 box... then and only then, will be pleasantly surprised that it's not like any other MMORPG you've ever played before.

I have to call foul on this.

Where do I find the definitive definition of an MMORPG so I can be sure I know what it is that I will getting in that game that says it is an MMORPG

  7. They now are givin a 15 days trial. It's good idea to understand if EVE is for a person or not

I tried EVE and really loved it for it's potential and freedom of choice, but I found the missions too repetitive.

I suspect I should have joined a corporation and found a useful role to play and have "levelled" that way. I may well try it again, for the concept and freedom is astounding, albeit brutal at times :p

  8. Casual:

  9. I like this thread and the original post.

Casual is often used as a derogatory term by those who think they are hard-core or elitist. That is just being ignorant; the difference between hard-core and casual is pretty much only down to how much time is invested in the game.

The average casual player is not likely to get all wound up or obsessive about having the numero uno build, or the latest best gear set. They realise that those few extra numbers are hardly going to make much difference to their enjoyment; and the mind boring grind to get them is just a waste of time that could be spent doing other things. Even in game.

Many elitist and hard-core players have some unbelievably arrogant and downright rude attitudes, which make me laugh, or perhaps I feel sorry for them? These games are not really super hard to play, and if you are prepared to put the time, much of what the hard-core player really has is down to them having plenty of time on their hands.

Having said that there are definitely a few “super elite players” to be found, they tend not to blow their own trumpets, they don’t need to.

I have had the pleasure of raiding with those sort of players and they tend to be calm, cool, often very polite and always helpful. Guess what? They are the true leader types. These will not be the ego centric, casual bashers often seen on these forums,

Hard-core also does not equate to good, causal is not bad. Players in either camp can be good or bad and that has little to do with min/maxing or top gear scores, it is the person behind the keyboard that makes a good or bad player.

  10. Ignore all those who tell you goodbye or worse. It is not worth the infraction to use the word decribing them that comes mind right now. Helpful people we have around here!

Respecs are meant to reset, so I suggest another ticket and possibly the no charge option may apply to you too, good luck.

  11. Finally this game is starting to look better!

I fully support a cross server lfd/lfg tool!

To those saying they will leave due to this.. Goodbye and have fun trying to find a game that doesnt have cross server tools! All the major mmo's have them these days!

I think you have helped me a lot here.

I am beginning to realise that it is the major MMO syndrome and their overall atmosphere that I have become weary of. The communities in the not so major MMOs are far more forgiving and less demanding and whiney that those I have seen in my excursions into “major MMOs”. Still I am enjoying SWTOR for now.
