After several hours and trying literally everything in this thread (many times) up to and including replacing my swtor folder with my flatmates.... pressing play still does nothing. Yeah at this point I doubt it's anything on my end, better luck tomorrow I guess (hopefully won't be a waste of yet another available gaming day).

Might try that (well, her comp) when she calls it quits for the night. On the other hand it's a big *** folder and she's got an early morning tomorrow.

Same thing, launcher closes after hitting play. (Before d/ling the patch I got the Unspecified error but restarting the launcher fixed that) 1. Tried deleting Bitraider folder, no go. 2. I don't seem to have a client_settings.ini file anywhere. 3. Tried deleting swtor.exe -> got unspecified error again, restarted the launcher, this time got "unable to retrieve patch data, please check network connection", restarted again, got to the point where I can press play... launcher closes, nothing happens. I checked the install folder afterwards and the launcher apparently hadn't re-created the .exe file either. Now I just got unspecified error again. Starting to regret signing up for that security key (and yeah, I even tried failing to input it but it didn't work either). Meanwhile, flatmate has been happily playing in the next room.

*Raises hand* I wasn't familiar with the etiquette, though it's pretty obvious I guess. The first few times I was suddenly buffed I was so surprised the person was long gone before I even thought of returning the favor Then there's getting a sudden Force Valor and looking around trying to figure out which of the five Consulars around you did it. Don't suppose there's any way to tell?

Another European girl here, from Finland! Where it's 4 am and way past any sane person's bedtime. My friend and I ended up on the Hidden Beks server, I haven't noticed any idiots around yet... though I worried about the Kotor connection a bit But people seem nice and I've even gotten a few drive-by buffs for my trooper. And though I grouped with someone for a heroic today, I'm still awkward about questing with strangers, I can't think of anything to say so I must seem really quiet. And I just roll greed on things, I feel guilty for rolling need on anything, even when I really DO need it. Er. AND I accidentally ninja'd someone, sneaking to loot a chest without aggroing the nearby mobs guarding it... not noticing someone was prepping an attack outside my field of vision. >_< Sorry random guy.

There's a current server list stickied in General Discussion, I was looking at that. And I figured as much, thanks. I'm not super well versed in EU stuff and characters if they're using those for server names, so I can't be sure what all is considered cool.

Wow this thread has grown since I last checked. o.O People needing refuge from all the negativity? I know it's a welcome break for me. Since it's looking like I might get in today, I had a look at the current servers list but it's hard to decide. EU PvE probably, though I played on a US server in the beta and had no problems. I don't really want to switch servers if possible so I hope I choose a good one... the only tip I've heard is "don't choose a cool sounding one, it'll be full of jerks". Erm. Does it matter that much?

Hey I'm also mostly a soloer as well as a lurker, nice to meet you. Thanks! I played in the beta on a couple of weekends so I agree with you. I do enjoy the class stories, having played about every Bioware game out there. Thanks, I mainly mean spoken English, you can take your time with written stuff I'd be self-conscious enough voice-chatting in my own language... And yeah, nothing wrong with threads like these IMHO, they are good for drawing out shyer people. Just move along.

Never saw the original thread but well, why not. Hello! I'm Anna and I'm very shy, hence I lurk everywhere and this is only the second thread here I've ever posted in. TOR is also my first MMO, so a bit nervous about that. Excited though, I even bought a headset mainly for this game... though I'll probably only chat with my friend, too self-conscious about my English and everything else. Didn't actually pre-order until October so I'm currently just killing time, making Christmas presents, playing Mass Effect and checking my mail at unhealthy intervals even knowing there's no way I'll get in yet.
