  1. I can see where they allow transfers to and how they do it becoming and issue as well, not to mention the length of time window stays open for transfers and even more thought with mergers. They just can't merge any two servers..

Merging two low pop Repub servers will not help with balance any more then allowing everyone to transfer to any of the top 5 servers.

  2. They have given that information. Transfers will start in early summer. The first wave will be free transfers to servers that BW chooses. After that there will be the option for people to pay for transfers to any server they wish. The transfers will be for your entire legacy, and if you are copying one legacy to a server that already has another legacy then the highest of the two will take precedence.

What I have found is that the people complaining about a "lack of communication" are in fact complaining that BW is not saying what they want them to say.

Odds are that anyone complaining about lack of communication will not bother to even read your post and complain about lack of communication elsewhere as well.

  3. I'll be glad when GW2, MOP, D3 and whatever other games that are supposed to be so much better than SWTOR launch... Maybe then, the people that actually like this game can play in peace and carry on decent conversations on these forums.

Please hang in there BIOWARE, there are still fans out here that like what you're doing.. Keep it up!

Things like this will never change because the Mmorpg / action rpg player base has changed into what we are seeing now. D3 forums are slowly hinting that the will have on the forums there thats been happening here. The new generation of gamers are coming in with their expectations too high and their patience too low and the end result is rushed games and a forum player base that attacks the Devs and anyone with a wait and see attitude like a pack of wild animals. Someone at work told me that the end of the mmorpg is near and I think that unless things change he is pretty close to being right on that

  4. Your math is flawed..... all active players could be on lets say 12 hours a day............ how many are on only one hour?

In another note... I dread this and have pleaded with bw/ea. They seem to listen somewhat... but need to give us some more info on upcoming patches to keep active subs up in between patches.

Actually most games have a peak player base of 10%, this includes Wow and LoL

So... 1.3 M subs = 130 000 players on during peak play times

roughly 217 servers so 130 000 /217 = 599 players per server or say 300 players per faction

33 zones not including ships or additional war zone spawns = Average of 9 players per zone

    ....Ramble....

There have been players playing on so called dead servers now fr months, refusing to reroll elsewhere for the time being and continuing to to reroll alts on the same dead server. Since the 1st of March the stated that server tranders would be coming for pacific/asian players sometime near the end of April with a better system for everyone else coming sometime later,i would imagine they are working on that now. From the way they have talked the Asian/Pacific transfers were all MANUAL, they cannot do that for the rest of us.I believe t hey are looking at transfers only right now because legacy adds a whole new level of problems to mergers

So as a kind of a small fix while we wait for the real thing some posted optional server suggestions/ ideas..what do some do reroll on the SAME server to cause issues with the game with hopes they would rush things..yeah lets make them rush a character copy system that would be poor tested and place the characters we cannot bare ro lose at risk/

  5. Because we wanted to love this game and play for years to come.

Because we sold this game to friends, and friends of friends. Now they say to us, "You told me swtor was good."

So you stay subbed to try and drive away anyone who actually still likes the game? Its been nothing but the same crap from these players since launch day........

  6. They've been working on it for months, and have made numerous comments on the matter. Where have you been?

People don't really read any of those threads, they just come here to see themselves *****.

  7. I am laughing at how many people are seriously missing the point here. It's not just about how many people are still subscribed, but how many people have actually left. For a game to lose 30% of it's subscriber base in 2 months is a huge dive, and if you factor that 2 million copies were confirmed sold in December, the game has been steadily declining in population. When you apply this to all the servers they opened up in December to accommodate players, you will find many of those servers to have a thinned out and otherwise inactive population.

Having said this, the game will not "die" as we know it. Yes, the subs may in fact drop even more but with server merges the game can certainly stay afloat and function for years to come. Will it be the next hyper-successful, 10 million+ subs MMO giant? Not a chance.

The only major non bug issue this game has are the number of servers (217) and the forum community that wants to seer this game DEAD DEAD DEAD..This game has a 65% retention after all the doom and gloom expressed on this forums over the past 4 months. Why the heck are you people still here? Why? You either hate the game or are baiting the people who still care about the game into fights....

So now i suppose the next big thing will be predictions on how Swtor will be dead and have less then 300 000 subs at the end of the 2 quarter, right?

It isn't the game that is making me sick, its the community who spins any positive numbers into a end of the game scenario.

  8. AS i have told them when i unsubbed ... I want the freed month they gave to the 50's that space barred and power leveled their way to 50 the first 1-3 weeks of the game and then spent the rest of the time moaning on the forums about lack of content, insulting other players that hadn't reached 50 and basically trolled about. Not to mention the ones who unsubbed after the first 30 and came back after 1.2 while players who had been here since launch got snubbed.
  9. Seeing how there seems to be around 100-150k concurrent players i am going to base the total subs at around 850k-1 000 000. Until they get the transfers set up and do something with the servers the game will feel dead Hell right now evern if we had 4million players we would only have an average of 925 players per side. That's it.

Times are a changing and i think that the time of the mmorpg is coming to an end. The problem is that players have come to expect too much for new games. You cannot have an mmorpg with up to date graphics and up to date content to keep the heavies around and as we have seen with Swtor even a strong licence will not keep people around. When people are lambasting the heck out of D3 you know there is a problem with the currrent state of gaming.

  10. i stopped reading after the first paragraph. mr. mad person, please explain to me how bioware is supposed to create a criteria that is definitive using your soft and fuzzy thought process? maybe bioware should give a free month to those who have made an average of 4 long and bad posts on the forums per day?

also, not that this has anything to do with the topic (of course you brought it up because you are a bad) how could anyone who put in equal hours as me, yet not have a 50, be better than me? you see, this is a game based on stats, i'm sorry to say. my level 50 character is better than the best role playing level 30 out there simply based on numbers alone. it's a tough world out there, but that's the way it is. reality is just the way it is, no matter how hard you want to change it. i know this might be hard for you to understand, but bioware cannot create a metric that rewards people based on their "roleplay effort", or other equally fuzzy and silly criteria that you feel should be recognized. you are hilarious.

tldr: deal with it. they chose to reward 50's. that's the criteria they chose, and the only real criteria they could have used.

The problem i have is that players who have run down the game and hated on the players who did enjoy the game are being rewarded for it. Then they pop on like and go yeah i got the 30 but the game sucks and i won't use it. If you can't understand how some people might be upset at that then you are totally clueless.

  11. I completely agree with what your saying, they really need to wrap their heads around the big picture, we've all been here before, we have an idea how these things work.

But it wouldn't be as bad if they actually addressed comments and questions straight forward and more (adult-adult), we don't need to here that it's really complicated and your trying your bestest.

We need to here, "We're working on it, it will be implemented when it's done". Thats it they could even give atleast an aproximation, like in 2-4 months etc...

Take the guild wars team for example, (not comparing the games), practically every time they're asked for a release date, they straight forward say, "when it's done".

Anytime a statement os made it is trn apart, analyzed and twisted until very littke remains of the actual intent f the message. It is better to play your cards close to your chest then constantly be hung out to dry by those who supposedly want nothing but the best for the game.

  12. Sorry Wampa, I beta tested in the closed beta

WE TOLD YOU THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO AT 50 before launch hit when the NDA went down

And since no content was added between then and 1.2

Its REASONABLE to conclude there was lack of content at end game

So why reward you (and it is a reward as well as a punishment no matter how its spun) for finding out and complaining about what you already knew?

Sorry I dont see the logic

    You were told

you powered there anyways (as is your right, see above above no correct play style)

you found out everything you were told was correct

you screamed to high hell (not you but the 50 crowd) about finding out no one lied to you

EA gave you a free month

So now the people that played just as long (in some cases longer as their accounts never got cancelled and then reupped months later) and paid just as much or more now yelling

And some how you think their wrong to?

They are doing exactly what you all did

Only difference is no one forwarned them 5 months ago

Yeah, I dont get the entitlement you 50s showing here

Support those that are just as deserving (and more so in many cases) to get their just results already!

Imo all this does is reward some of the players who have done nothing but insult the players who do love this game for months.....

  13. As stated about 10-15min queues are better than dead servers. Hopefully Bioware have learn't their lesson and don't create more servers only to become ghost town in a month or 2.

Most people are already playing these servers anyway so their shouldn't be much of an increase in individuals logging in (although this is only a guess and I could be wrong).

Hopefully we have learned our lesson about asking for more servers as well

  14. Because it's not our responsibility to restart and lose everything we worked on for 3 months just due to Bioware opening too many servers?

Well for some of you who claim to have6 or more characters 40+ on a sever thats been dead for 3 months, yes.

  15. We have about 100 000 concurrent users which would give us somewhere between 670 000- 1 000 000 subs. They allow transfers in a few months and merge about 100 of the 217 servers and the game will be fine. The plkayers spread out over so many servers and the way they display zone pops is part of the issue.

Fyi I get my pop numbers from looking at Wow and Lol which have a 10-15% concurrent player vs sub base

  16. I hope they will never ever merge servers. It killed Warhamemr for me, no fun if you lose all your char names :(

They have to merge the lower 30 at some point if people are unwilling to move off of them (which seems to be the case right now)

Really we have about 50 more US servers then needed and about 25 more European servers, some of which has been in this state for a few months at least.

If you end up being the transferee or on a server being merged unless your character is older or has more playing time you will probably lose your name.

  17. One thing people seem to not pay attention to is the fact that "Standard" isnt like..... half full.

    It goes

    Light

    Standard

    Heavy

    Very Heavy

    Full

And Standard can still mean a total of 350 ppl on the entire SERVER. With 17 planets, and assume 15 people BOTH republic and imperial combined on each planet (for arguments sake starter planets have 15 of their own faction), thats 255 ppl. Which means fleet only has about 95 combined between both fleets. Which is ~43 ppl on each fleet.

Rough estimates, but does anyone seriously consider that "standard" for an mmo?

And while I can only speak from experience on my personal server, we have ONLY been bleeding people since maybe end of jan. We had ~190 peak hours on imp fleet, now we hit on average maybe 90. And while I am sure a small handful of servers ARE increases in population due to people re-rolling from their servers with low populations, thats certainly not common. Hell, I have 95 people on fleet during peak hours and even I am thinking about rerolling. And with so many servers in much worse state........ of course some servers are gonna start to balloon from the influx of people abandoning dead/dieing servers.

    Depends on what you expect..

Current averages is about 10% of a games sub base are on during peak.

Wow servers for 1.1 million players = 500or so

    Swtor servers for 150 000 players = 217

an average server might have 700 players which might be 20 per fleet

  18. Well theres the server statistics from torstatus but also the rumor mill and stock performance.

    Rumor mill:

    http://startupgrind.com/2012/04/exclusive-electronic-arts-set-to-lay-off-500-employees/

This same thing happened about a month before server mergers happened in Warhammer online. Eventually warhammer died also.

    http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ea-beats-targets-on-sales-gain-forecast-off-2012-02-01

This one is from February so its a little out of date. This is the time that the server population buzz started.

I want it noted that I'm not saying that this game is dying or dead. But until EA says the official subscriber numbers we cannot tell, just speculate from the news out there.

You can't really use the stock as a argument for Stwor success or failure as they have a big company and this game is far from its only release.

Between the US and Europe they have about 100 more servers then needed, that cannot be fixed with a simple flick of the switch. In all honest our impatience is just a big of factor in this games possible failure as Bioware implementation,

  19. You got some pretty good graphs here of server populations.

    http://www.torstatus.net/

And on these graphs i dont see your "80% of the servers are at full/heavy rating" anywhere.

Actually it shows that they shouldn't have caved into players whining at launch and added 70+ servers.

Overall population is not bad really but when you spread it our on a server to server basis its good for about 2/5 meh for about 1/5 and it sucks for the remaining 2/5 which adds to the whole the game is dead bandwagon.

Transfers and mergers will be coming but considering the complaining about bugs since launch i would guess that players might want them to get this right because no one would want to lose their characters ..would you?
