Ok I just spoke to customer service, The Shadowlands US server is down, they are investigating an issue with the server. Several times this week players, including myself, have red lined in latency and been kicked from the game, normally you can log back in, but this time it is down as they try to find the cause of bad server communications. I was surprised and impressed at bioware SWTOR customer service available at this time to answer questions, not sure why there is no post about it yet, but this is why the game is down for some. Sadly all my toons are on The Shadowlands US server so now I can not play as well, all other servers are up and running.

I am not sure the admin announcements say 3am PST, 5 am my time but I can not get past character select. This is yet another instance of how free to play with no night time tech support or server babysitters is a bad thing. There have got to be bells a whistles going off at bioware, but not sure why they are not rebooting. The server lists all say up and running, lol, yeah right.
