  1. So SWTOR brought me to mmo's it was my first. After a month and a half I had two level 50's and was stumped with what to do next. I was frustrated at lack of content at the end of the game and lack of pvp at times. So I decided to try World of Warcraft as everyone bangs on about how good it is or was or whatever. I logged on for the first time and made a hunter warewolf and began my questing, and could not believe how dull it was up to level 10. There's no voice overs and its an absolute guess where to go for questing. I'm not ************ at it because it is a 7 year old game but the fact that people are comparing these two games is really surprising me, if people just overlook there addiction they had to the game and actually compared the two, SWTOR wins hands down. So Bioware you will be seeing a lot more of me on your game

I hear you OP, but in the spirit of community discussion, with a post like this you can expect to receive some counter-points.

There is an inherent flaw in your decision to come back to SWTOR. First you state that you left because you hit max level, and given the lack of end-game and pvp, you were frustrated. This implies that the idea of leveling new characters wasn't appealling, but rather, you wanted end-game. Then you went to wow, which is known for quality end-game, but left because you didn't like the leveling. Now you're back to swtor, but you don't like the end-game and have implied that you don't want to level new characters. So I ask you, why?

Honestly, the leveing in wow is surely boring to say the least. But that's the price of admission for their high-quality end-game. If you stick it out you would get what you want.

After 4 years of WOW, I have been the biggest fanboi of swtor since its release. Now, given the raging community, the complete ease of acquiring gear, the heavily instanced corridor-style world, the seemingly low population and lack of LFG tools, I miss wow. Yesterday I cancelled my swtor sub, and unless there is a meaningful patch before my time runs out in 20 days, I'm going back to wow as I wait for the next big thing.

Good luck to you OP, I hope you find what you're looking for.

  2. The fact that people didn't know KS generates threat really surprises me. Healing generates threat. KS is a heal.

As for whether it's working as intended, I'd have to argue that it is, primarily due to the pro tip that I will provide you below, free of charge.

    Pro Tip: CHAFF FLARE

  3. Umm... You were given the option. The chancellor said he wipes your slate clean but he wants you to kill tormen. It's the option I took and it was oh so sweet.

For the love of god, you're right, I'm a nooblet. I forgot that had I not chosen to take down the chancellor I could have killed Tormen. But dude, the chancellor tried to kill me, I had to kill him.

So okay, I'll modify: I wanted to take down the chancellor AND kill Tormen.

I might roll another BH just to kill Tormen.

  4. Agreed, sprint should persist through death.

But wait, is there any place or any time when sprint can't be used? Would it be fair to say that pretty much everyone would want sprint up 100% of the time while playing the game?

So why have sprint at all? Why not just increase the base running speed so we don't have to click a stupid button everytime we login or rez.

It's retarded imo, unless of course there is a time or place where sprint can't be used, in which case, please educate me.

  5. People really complaining about a 4 hour downtime for a patch? And complaining about lack of communication from BioWare as to why?

Well I went back and looked at my World of Warcraft account. I played since day 1 and I played off and on until this past November (so 7 years). Within the first year of the game's release Blizzard comped my account 13 days of play time due to exessive downtime while they performed maintenance. Which means the game was unplayable for nearly 24 hours on 13 separate occasions. Over the course of the 7 years I played the game they comped my account a total of 24 days, nearly one month of the game being unplayable. The last day to be comped was nearly 4.5 years after the game was released.

Also for every one of those days in which the game was unplayable for nearly 24 hours Blizzard posted updates maybe 3 times the whole day. Basically zero communication, with the promise of an update coming at a certain time and us not getting the update for 2-3 hours later than promised. And not all of these were patch days, some were just plain scheduled maintenance.

I have yet to see BioWare take the servers down for a whole day, and have yet to see them say "we'll give an update at 1:00pm" and them not give an update at that time or earlier. Also almost every time BioWare has taken the servers down they have come back up ahead of scheduled.

This game has been barely out a month and this is BioWare's first time doing a MMO. As far as game down time and communication to the players, they are kicking the butt of the company that made the most popular MMO ever. Yet some people just can't help but to complain.....

    Agreed.

  6. Nice wall of text, Lars.

Admittedly I had neither the time nor the interest to examine the entire wall, but hopefully BW is paying someone to care enough about what you have to say. Someone would need to be paid a lot to endure that, but BW has a decent budget.

The one point I was able to extract from your wall of text is that the time of day that BW decides to patch bothers you. Rest assured, Lars, BW knows exactly what time of day and what day of week will impact the smallest number of players. Rest assured that they patch on the day and at the time of day that affects the least number of players. Indeed, the time during which they choose to patch is hardly unique to swtor.

Please re-read the prior two sentences to ensure you understand.

My advice, Lars, move to a different time zone or convince enough people to play in your timezone.

  7. I prefer to play at max camera distance so I can see the entire area. Anything less is just fail mode, imo. And yes, my preferences are set to allow MAX camera distance.

As you would expect, the camera distance auto-adjusts when running through doorways or going into small rooms, but for some reason it does not properly revert back to max camera distance when possible. Even worse, frequently my camera distance will automatically zoom-in for no apparent reason. Very frequently.

The issue is so bad that my zoom-out hotkey needs to be part of my standard rotation in boss fights. Bad.

So are other people having this same issue? Am I missing a setting or something? I love the game, I will keep playing, but it would be really nice to see this fixed.

Another separate but related issue is that the max zoom-out distance is inconsistent; sometimes the camera just won't zoom-out as far as it will at other times, even in the open world.

  8. Post after post points out the problem yet people still don't get it (nor read for that matter).

I stealth as an Agent, I flag myself, then I waltz into a unflagged players AoE: bam they are flagged and now attackable. In no way, shape or form did that player actually attack me. I simply get hit by their

Wait, so who damaged whom first? Who drew first blood?

    Read. Understood.

If you don't want to get flagged, don't attack (damage) other players.

    Nice try. Fail.

  9. reason why some server loose alot of population is people like you.

I really hope you do know that Bioware are increasing the instances aswellall the time for example in the start in rep fleet it showed 90-120 while today it usually show 200-240 in the same area.

"The reason why some servers have a declining population is people like you.

I really hope you know that Bioware is increasing the ??????..... "

I did my best to fix that for you, but honestly, are you having a stroke or something? See a doctor bro, or an English teacher.

  10. I rolled Crucible Pits too, it's not that bad. Sure the population has declined as people get to max level and play less, but the same can be said for all servers except the chosen few.

I'm a healer, tonight I spammed General for like 30 minutes LFG Red Reaper, nothing.

I don't think the problem is server pop. I think the problem could be solved if there was a /2 Trade channel that could be accessed from anywhere on the server. It would make it easier to get a group. Honestly it would be nice to LFG Flashpoint while questing, but that would require a shorter CD on the fleet pass, or some other way to quickly get to where you need to be when you get a group.
