  1. Is this the 4th version of the thread that has reached 1000+ posts or is it higher? I dunno I guess it will die (the thread) in the next few days as subscriptions come up. Those that are not prepared to put up with it will be unable to post then. May the force be with you I'll be back when they change this.
  2. It's the game. There is nothing that can be done about it unless you get a 6 core with a 500 dollar graphics card. Pretty much everyone is experiencing this.

    Buy a beastly computer

Actually that does not fix it as the problem lies elsewhere.

  3. 1. Again, it's principle of being treated fairly and equally for HIGHER fee.

    2. Trion can do it. Turbine can do it. And you wanna tell me BW/EA can't? They have at least 10x time resources of any other MMO company bar Blizzard and they cant provide same service? Then they deserver to lose customers.

    3. If maintenance is being run from US then they ARE paying extra because it's being run during night.

I'm really tired of people repeating same old arguments every time. Read before posting.

Leaving aside the other AAA's that do it even the one man and his dog Z listers can manage to do it without breaking a sweat.

  4. they ARE NOT doing separate maintenance therefor if they move the time either earlier or later it will go into either NA or EU PEAK time...

    basic logic and common sense

There is absolutely no reason why they can not do separate maintenance times. If they want to maximise revenue they will do this sooner rather than later.

To maximise revenue you need to maximise availability to the majority of your paying customers. That means separate maintenance at about 2am in the morning.

I am actually thinking of doing a credit card charge back, somehow simply cancelling just does not seem adequate to express my complete and utter disgust at this nonsense.

Just because they are not doing it does not make it right, it completely defies basic logic and common sense as it will undoubtedly cost them revenue.

  5. Class mechanics make this game awesome!

    People forget about them :(

I always enjoy getting to learn how a new class works too.

I have a problem for a couple of reasons. First is skill bloat...lots of MMO's have this issue, I'd like to see games experiment with other design philosophies. I'm not saying go all out GW1 (though that was a very interesting approach) but look at other ways of doing things. Trion mitigated that to a degree with their macro scheme, put all your CC's in a macro and have one button for them. Smuggler stealth (for example) has 4 keys at least 3 are not neccassary as the game could know by context what you want to do.

Combat itself is fun but not as satisfying as it could be (largely due to skill lag and engine issues). It's just not as 'crisp' as it could be.

  6. People who are enjoying the game are playing not posting, which is far outnumbering the people who are not. Never judge a MMO by its general discussion.

True that. I am mindful that my morning ritual is coming here first rather than logging in. The game was fun for me but it becomes harder to turn a blind eye to the warts.

On the subject of the voice overs, character three I am using the space bar more.

  7. I like how they worded the message.

BECAUSE WE CARE.... to bad they didn't have that saying back during beta phase when these issues were already bugged and talked about lol w/e

'cause we messed it up' would get more respect for me. I wonder if they will finally fix broken harvesting nodes this time? It really does not bode too well when the things they 'fix' are not (fixed).

  8. Do some space combat missions...early on they give a pretty good chunk of exp.

I am on my 3rd character and real early (I am only level 6 but am guessing this will hold true until 10ish) grinding a few mobs seems plausible. I did it to top off levels to train before moving to far from home. Without sprint there is a lot of time running and just killing mobs gives a good chunk of exp.

  9. Agree with OP.

99.9% frustrated, angry and complaining forum post JUST about launch is common on every MMO forum.

    Smoothest launch ever.

Why, just the other day I heard an imaginary MMO development team talking about what a great idea staggered launch to prevent ques only to have longer ques would be.

By any objective measure that you care to use that is quantifiably untrue. Sure it's not that bad a launch but it really isn't that great. There is more to a smooth launch than queues and despite the staggered launch BW had more than there fare share of queues. It was only an hour or so on my server for the first week or two o but there where other that where much higher.

The actual state of the game (which I found fun) was mediocre with things like ability delays, fps issues, texture issues, broken main quest lines for several classes (so they could not progress past a certain point) etc. etc.

Really the launch was more Funcom than Trion.

The game is fun but to claim the launch was the smoothest ever is risible.

  10. EVE and Rift were my favourite launches. I would still be playing Rift if I ended up not liking its creation from the art department coupled with the triage class system which lead to many imbalances. EVE was just superb hands down.

Yeah arguably Rift took the crown from DAoC and LotRO whether you like the game (Rift) or not Trion are a shining beacon for how to produce, release and manage a game.

@the OP. The only thing I feel let down and upset about are the EU maintenance times. It was a lousy business decision. As sub time approaches (I cancelled because of this) I feel less and less 'let down and upset' as the ongoing reveal of the various warts the game has make me think that I will not miss playing as much as I thought I would.

  11. I complained about this in beta. The animations really need to be normalized. I remember on my Scoundrel I had to wait about a second or two for him to pull out his shot gun to do the back blast and same thing with the kick in the nuts. Where as Operative the blade comes out and boom instant for both those moves. Repub is at a mechanical disadvantage even before player pops and skill lol. I noticed the same thing with project and other moves as well like others have mentioned to.

The shotgun takes ages to pull out. I am not saying that the mirror is different because I have no experience of that.

You'd have thought a dev would go through the list and at least acknowledge the issues that need attention and dismiss those that do not.

  12. serious issues can take serious amounts of time to fix? especially when there's a lot of different factors involved

Sure but they are so fundamental it should not make it in to release. Period. The fact this was one that was not prioritised earlier in the games development cycle tells you a lot about how BW are approaching things. They are going for the quick and easy fixes like emoting on a mount rather than the fundamental game altering ones like skills firing when you hit the key. Of course one requires significantly more work than the other but it is work that should have been done a year ago.

  13. I just had a shiver run down my spine. For some reason I was reminded of corpse runs where you could loose half a level of more and it would take an extended playing session (I can't go to bed in case my corpse decays) trying to run back (naked of course) to where you died. Of course you might well die in the process and then have another corpse to tag.
  14. And bump, I won't let this go :)

Sadly I will be letting it go in a few days :( Can't be bothered logging in right now, just kind of winding down. Still we loose the best part of a whole day again on Tuesday ....hurrah. I'm becoming more and more inclined to do a credit cad charge back to be honest. The games availability is simply not satisfactory.

  15. No that's just not good enough, they would never dream of taking servers down at that time if they directly generated revenue (The EA store for example) why should it be any different for any other service. I am here to simply say that this will affect revenue as it it will result in cancellations it just remains to be seen how many. Look at the exit polls!
  16. Hurrah servers down again tomorrow.

I can not believe that BW do not understand that to maximise revenue they need to maximise availability of their servers to the majority of their paying customers.

I'm getting to the point where cancelling alone does not seem like a sufficient expression of my dis satisfaction. Maybe a CC chargeback.
