  1. Why do people try to equate difficult or hard to get, to grind? To me grinding is doing the same thing over and over and over.

The quest for an epic item should have many difficult trials, but not the same ones over and over. In my opinion a well designed quest for a weapon does take a considerable amount of time and perseverance to complete, but that doesn't have to equate to grinding.

Heck one of my favorite weapons quests was in WoW and started with the Battered Hilt drop in Icecrown and culminated for my character with a sword, Quel'Delar, Lens of the Mind. That wasn't even a legendary, just epic, but even today people are looking for that hilt because the quest was fun and the sword looks cool.

Epic or Legendary quests can be very difficult to complete without being a grind.

Maybe "Grind" wasn't the right word. When I said grind, I didn't mean mindless repetition. I just meant it shouldn't be something one can obtain quickly.

But yeah, I'm with you on this. I think the epic weapon quests should be very difficult and time consuming, without being repetitive.

  2. As long as their is some personalization to it and it isn't too grind heavy (given my 3 50's and an alt of every class type save jugg/guard so far) I think this can be a great thing.

The more difficult the better imo. Epic Weapons shouldn't be something everyone can obtain easily. That's what makes them epic.
