  1. Why people moan about making friends is beyond me.

Ranked WZs are NOT about making friends. They've NEVER been about making friends. They're about finding the best players who play the best PvP classes. You can be the nicest, most sociable person in the world, but if you're playing a bad class, or playing a good class poorly, you're not getting in.

  2. Yeah, I didn't hear anything in that interview that indicated a level of gear, just that you will have warzone commendations and rated warzone commendations.

I believe he said unranked WZs were Tier 1 and Ranked WZs were Tier 2. That pretty much means that ranked WZ gear will be an upgrade to Tier 1.

  3. Simple enough to have the same gear for for both rated and non-rated wz's. They can award gear that has different skins and set bonuses but that should be the extent of it. A War Hero level character who progressed through regular wz's and open world pvp should be the same as a War Hero level character who progressed through rated wz's. Making them any different in power is just lazy rehash by the devs and will cause issues.

On the other hand rated wz's should reward more $, coms, valor, legacy etc. based off the likely increase in queue times involved. If Bioware adds a trophy system into the game then I can also see specific ones available only to those that participate in rated wz's.

    I agree with you.

To survive and not become a free game they have to keep the casuals that support the game.

With ranked gear, they will lose too many players since casuals will have no chance to compete with that gear.

Casuals can slowly get to BM, and on even ground eventually, ranked WZ's kills that option.

Ranked WZ's should be about the epeen, not the gear.

Brag a little, but if you are #1 with BM gear, what else do you need?

    I agree with you too.

  4. I agree with the OP. PvP is supposed to test skill, not gear. The people that say there is no skill in PvP were abused children.

PvE progression fights progressively harder bosses and needs progressively better gear.

PvP gear needs to keep up with PvE gear to prevent PvE gear becoming better for PvP.

PvPers don't get more hit points and attack harder as you progress on; you're fighting the same players the day you turn 50 as the day you hit War Hero. They may obtain better gear (as you will) but that is capped at a certain point. Eventually the playing field evens out for everyone. So the people making the claim "derp derp raiders get better gear by raiding so ranked WZ players should too herpa derp" are incorrect.

Different gear? That's fine. Better gear? No.

  5. Here's a little poem I wrote:

    Lolo DoT spammers, lolo

    You're mad

    You're sad

    You're bad

    Lololo

    Bioware makes a change

You flock to the forums, how strange

Most of you are acting deranged

    Lololo

Your dots can't prevent me from capping

After I killed you and you are dirt-napping

You'll have to resort to sapping

    Lololo

The change is made for the best

So please, put your whining to rest

And not stink when completing your daily "win 3 WZs" quest

    Lololo

I hope you like it :D

  6. Seems random to me. I've used my AoE mez, cc'ed 2 players as before the ball got there and they still caught it. I was upset. If you knock them out of the receiver circle you'll get the pick it looks like.
  7. True or False: Juggs/Guards regularly hit for 6K+

The answer is False. We don't. The biggest crit I've had is 5800 with everything popped. And THAT was against a fresh level 50 with 11,000 hit points. He had very little if any PvP gear on, and I popped trinkets, adrenals, and had a str/power stim on. A guardian may hit someone for more, but it's a weak target. PvP isn't balanced around people in greens, it's balanced around full sets of PvP gear. Against a fellow BM my Force Sweep will hit around 3500-4500 tops. Not nearly as "oooo scary".

Can we hit someone for 6K? Yes. Does it happen regularly? No, it does not. Does it happen against geared up players? Never.

If you're getting hit for 6K by a guardian you're getting hit hard by EVERYONE. It's not a "Force Sweep is OP" problem, it's a "I'm outgeared" problem.

  8. We have a 4 second stun. It's channeled, unless you spec Defense.

We can get knockback immunity if we spec into Vig.

You have cake, you have icecream. If you want them both then they take away your fork.

I don't know if it's right or wrong, but that's the way it is.

  9. Considering equal gear and player skill a Sentinel will outperform a DPS Guardian. I guess the playstyle may be slightly different and obviously you can't choose to go tank. It's possible to overaggro as DPS guardian just as it is with any DPS class, but you will be more likely to do it with a Sent. The only "Advantage" I find to have a guardian over a sent in raids is the ability to switch to soresu and help tank for a short period of time or on low Damage phases if for some reason the tank dies.

Until you can show me the numbers, your claims have no substance.

  10. I've been running a focus build with the Shii-cho talents for a while, and while they are nice I've been thinking of going to a permanent Soresu form focus build similar to Vosh. As they've said, you lose a little damage but you gain a lot more utility and survivability with Soresu.

The downside is, yes, focus generation sucks. You really have to manage it well or you will run into dry spells while you're spamming Strike. Focus management will only come to you through practice. You don't have this problem in Shii-cho.

After running many, many WZs I've found most of the time I'm sitting in Soresu form. I only go Shii-cho when:

    -I'm on offense in Voidstar

-The initial attack in Civil War

    I'm in Soresu when:

-I'm defending a node in Civil War

-I'm defending a door in Voidstar

-I'm the ball carrier in Huttball

-I'm guarding the ball carrier in Huttball

-I'm playing with someone else (which is often)

-I'm running around in Ilum solo

-I'm in Ilum guarding a healer (which means I'm always in Soresu for Ilum)

People (especially healers) love that Guard bubble. And not that it matters to me that much, but if you like medals, very rarely am I not #1 in medals when using Soresu form, and I don't get them by farming. It seems like I'm in Soresu so much that it may be better to drop the talents that buff Shii-cho form and pick up the ones that perform better for Soresu.

I wouldn't worry about Unwavering Focus, many guardians clip Master Strike anyway. You'll get the first 2 strikes before they interrupt it anyway, and if they do you can throw a harder hitting attack than that 3rd tick.

Inner Focus is good, especially since the build is tight on Focus anyway. Cap it out.

Like Adante said, one point in Solidified Force is also good, free snare means spam it til your heart's content when people are running down the hall in Voidstar. OR stand at the tunnel exit in Civil War and spam it while your teammates are capping. Snare is good for most fights, but the ability to spam it means you don't have to worry about running the tank dry. This build is a Chevy Silverado, not a Nissan Leaf.

In the build I would use I'd have 1 point left over, I'd throw it into Improved Sundering Strike. A 50% chance for an additional sunder isn't bad. It's not like you won't be using that attack early and often.

    Good luck-

  11. As a Guardian we are not to be doing DPS, we are to be guarding as the name implies.

Unless you're a defensive specced guardian this isn't true. Don't get me wrong, we should be using guard on others depending on the situation, and we should be using taunts all the time. But there are plenty of Shii-cho and Shien guardians out there doing very well in a damage role. This is purely a playstyle choice.

The issue is that our damage mitigation and absorbtion is piss poor.

This IS true. We are meant to support others, but somehow that means sacrificing our own "tankiness." We're pretty squishy.

  12. nice vid.. you are a good pvper but no one was really as geared as you. The one where you are battling 1v2 in civil war, one of the juggernauts was battering slashing you (auto attack) Still, its nice to see republic winning somewhere

In his defense, nothing but videos of you 1v1ing someone get boring. Fighting outnumbered and winning is what sells tickets, so to speak. And you won't find too many players that can 1v2 a pair of geared, skilled PvPers.

Regarding the guardian using slash, heck man, as a focus specced guardian sometimes slash is the only thing you HAVE once both of your singularity builders, bladestorm and master strike are down. Lots of focus+no decent attacks left = slash slash slash. When you're dueling it's usually not an issue, but a WZ sometimes that's all you're left with on prolonged node defenses and what not.

    Not a bad video.

  13. I say there are 3 levels of babies.

The 3rd is the baby that creates insulting forum posts calling other players babies.

I laughed. This guy needs to lighten up and worry about winning matches, not ***** about people who can't carry him.

  14. If everything is as you saying, why you so hesitant about spreading damage across your abilities? You will even get better - you won't be a one-trick-pony.

Because they won't do that. They nerf Force Sweep and neuter the Focus tree altogether. And if they do that, by rights they should buff both the Focus tree and the Vig tree as well, because there won't be a decent option for PvP DPS. Personally I wish they'd buff Vig a little and I'd go that way instead of Focus, but meh, you play the hand you're dealt.

And Force Sweep doesn't hit targets for 6K anymore unless you're popping trinkets and adrenals and hitting a level 45 out in Voss. I'm in full champ/battlemaster gear and the highest crit I've done was 5,800 and that was before the surge nerf, and THAT was against a guy with 11,000 hit points, which of course means he was a fresh 50 in green gear.

Your average hit with a built-up Force Sweep is right around 4K, and that is not out of line with what other classes are doing.

PvP at level 50 is balanced around end-game gear, not greens. And believe me, you want it that way.

  15. I'm sorry but I stopped right here....

He used force sweep in a 1 on 1 fight... This has little bells and whistles going off. It reeks of terrible player. If he had any reputation at all, it was probably because he didn't know what the hell he was doing.

I'm sorry but since you stopped reading you won't see that I called you ignorant. Force Sweep still does decent damage in a Vig spec, and it's FREE.
