  1. Yes those missions are a 1 time use, but yield a TON of stuff. It's nice to have a toon constantly running slicing missions with alts that can run the TH and UT missions.. heck may as well have an alt to run all the different types of missions if you need the mats (or just want to sell them for a nice profit.)
  2. Your friend was either intentionally misleading you or just not properly informed. The best mods that can be crafted by cybertech are worse than the mods that can be obtained from doing the dailies on Ilum. The first raid tier are better than those mods, and Rekata are better than the first raid tier. Even with the added augment slot, the Rekata is still way better. Now, if you can find an Armor mod that's Rekata level, and rip out the other Rekata mods, then technically you could put those into an orange piece that has an augment slot and it would be better, but you certainly can't craft mods of that level.
  3. Each "Tier" of Reverse Engineering has specific possibilities that are pre-set. So for example, if you want +power and +alacrity, you have to start with the green and RE it until you have the +power blue quality schematic. You then have to craft that specific blue quality schematic until you learn the one with +alacrity. The possible stats that can be added when going from green to blue are: Defense, Crit, and Power. The possible stats that can be added when going from blue to purple are Alacrity, Surge, Shield, Presence, and Accuracy. So you have to make sure you get the correct first prefix before you begin REing it, or you'll end up in the boat you ended up in. Also note that, at least for implants, going for green to blue adds 35 of the specified stat. Going for blue to purple adds 40 of the specified stat, as well as 5 of the stat that was added when going from green to blue. Hopefully this helps.
  4. No gathering or mission skill has anything above Abundant Yield for grade 6 materials. No skill at any rank has a wealthy or prosperous yield either, those are found from mission discoveries that are 1 time uses. Underworld Trading has a couple of mislabeled missions that SAY they are Rich Yield Grade 6 Underworld Metals, but they cost AND yield the same as a moderate yield mission. I honestly do not know why they stop at Abundant.. probably because they don't want to "trivialize" gathering in that way, but there's plenty of room for Bountiful and Rich Yields considering you can start running Abundant at like 340 and the skills cap at 400.
  5. That's pretty brutal.. at least the cloth is a biproduct of farming the metal. I can't imagine throwing away 300+ Mandalorian Iron.. incidentally, why the heck is the Iron used for all of Cybertech, all of Armormech, and 2/3rds of Synthweaving while the cloth is ONLY used for 1/3rd of Synthweaving? but I digress..
  6. Quick question. The level 50 Blue quality schematics for Synthweaving that are found as schematics (not vendor trained), they can be REd to a purple, but can that purple then be REd into a better purple? I've read that an item that starts as blue can go to T2 purple, but I want to know if anyone has done these specifically before I go throwing away several hundred purple cloths. Thanks in advance .
  7. So there's no T2 purple like with some recipes that begin as blue quality? What about the actual color of the crystal? Does it stay the same?
  8. I have a couple questions regarding this. Can the level 47 vendor trained blue quality color crystals be REd twice? If so, what is the result? Is it the same color or is this a method of obtaining a different colored crystal? What about the green quality vendor trained ones? Can they be REd to purple quality? And if so, is the result just a few extra crit / end or does it alter the color of the saber blade? Thanks in advance.
  9. I'd say keep slicing and make an alt, do the first planet (to get to the fleet) then pick up UT on the alt. If you don't have a huge demand for the blue / purple metals, that's your best bet. Not to mention you can get UT patterns from the Slicing, which will help you get more metal on your alt.
  10. I made a thread similar to this yesterday. Red Goo is supposed to be a grade 6 compound but it's been made a grade 5 by mistake. You can confirm this by noting that no other profession uses grade 5 materials for level 49 stuff, and the fact that there's 3 grade 5 compounds and only 1 grade 6 (being the only example of breaking the pattern of 2 compounds / samples per rank.)
  11. I would prefer for Red Goo to come out of grade 6 gathering nodes like it's supposed to instead of giving me ludacris amounts of Immunity Cell Culture. Not to mention there's always 2 abundant yield grade 6 compounds missions available, which would have 50% Red Goo yield in instead of having a very slim chance of getting a single Rich Yield Grade 5 mission and getting 33% Red Goo yield from it.
  12. That would be after switching Red Goo to grade 6 obviously.
  13. On a side note, please take away the ability for grade 5 materials to spawn on Ilum .
  14. I'm not sure if Bioware is aware of this, but based off the usage of Red Goo and the pattern that's easily noticeable with compounds and samples, Red Goo should be a grade 6 compound. There are generally 2 compounds and 2 samples for each grade (one is higher and one is lower generally, but at grade 6 they seem to be the same). There are 3 grade 5 compounds (including Red Goo) and only 1 grade 6 compound. There are, however, 2 grade 6 samples. Red Goo is also used in half the level 49 stuff, which I haven't noticed to be the case with any other tradeskill. Red Goo is literally the only grade 5 gathered material that is used to make level 49 things. The easiest solution to this problem is to simply make Red Goo a rank 6 compound, which it appears as though it should be anyway. The only difference this will make is with companion gathering missions, as currently Red Goo is rather difficult to come by (sure you can get Rich Yield missions for rank 5 compounds, but Red Goo is competing with 2 other completely useless compounds so the yield is generally 0-4 per rich mission.. not to mention getting Rich Yield Grade 5 Compound missions is difficult given all the competition at that grade.)
