  1. I did two [Heroic 2] last night and although they were slightly harder than they were before they were still a cake walk, and that's coming from someone who's only just the last few weeks started playing (old account but never played more than 5 mins originally), heck I still haven't sorted out a rotation and my bars are filled with all the abilities being randomly spammed, and still i'm beating [Heroic 2] quests with ease.
  2. If you could sync up to higher level zones what would the point of levelling be?
  3. Are they actually closed closed, or is it like most mmo support tickets where they send you an automated response containing some generic tips, then close the ticket and if it doesn't help you have to respond for it to be reopened and passed on to an actually CS person? Not sure how it works here but in most other mmo's that's how it works, it tends to confuse those who don't know into thinking they're not getting a response.
  4. Your actual internet connection could be perfect, but (and i'm not saying it is this but it should be the first check you do) it could still be an issue with your connection, not at your end and not at the servers end, but somewhere in between. As you probably know to get from your PC to the server your data passes through multiple servers, most of which are not owned by either your ISP or BioWare, if one of these servers is playing up then it can cause issues with the game. When your ISP checks your connection all it is checking is you connection from your router to their server and not beyond, that is their definition of working. Now, almost every time someone tries to explain this people pipe up with comments like "but my other mmo's don't have these issues" or "x other people on my ISP don't have issues", the route you take is different to each game and can be different even between people living a couple of miles apart on the same provider, playing the same game. The first troubleshooting step with issues like this should always be to check your route, you can do this by downloading and installing a program called pingplotter, using this program you can enter the IP address of the server and set it running, it will tell you your ping between server hops on your route and highlight any issues at their source, it also keeps a log over time while it is running so you can have it running in the background and when something happens in game you can refer to the log. If nothing shows on the log then it's almost certainly not an internet based issue and either at your end or at BioWares end. People complain that mmo CS staff always "blame" your connection when they suggest doing this, but they're not blaming anything,iIt's a process of elimination and checking your internet route is just the first step, once they can be sure your internet is not the case they can move on to the next step in the investigation. In the case of the OP it appears to be an issue somewhere in one of the server hops, somebody else on the same ISP has the same issue here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=851250. All I can suggest is making a note of which IP the bad connection is at and A. Speaking to your provider, giving them all the information and tell them they need to contact the faulty server company and do something, or reroute your connection elsewhere, and B. Give BioWare a call, explain the situation, give them all the information you can and ask them (be polite about it) to work with the offending server company to get things fixed.
  5. Have you played any other mmo's? LotRO : Only a certain amount of zones are free, all others you have to buy World of Warcraft: You have to subscribe and buy expansions The Secret World: You have to purchase each episode of new content Age of Conan: You have to buy 30 day passes to access certain zones, you also have to buy an expansion AND subscribe to access the expansion you just bought. Elder Scrolls Online: Each new content pack needs to be purchased Need I list more?
  6. So the Remens weren't in the Romulan Star Empire, not even to the extent that at one point a Remon sat on the imperial throne, no never, and the Regulons weren't part of the star empire either And what about the Nausican, Gorn, Kriosans, Arin'Sen, Letheans and a dozen other races that were part of the Klingon Empire? ')
  7. I almost made a 60 last night (stopped myself just in time, I don't want to make a permanent character until I have tried them all), no idea how I got a token, do you get a free one for first time subs or something? Anyway, when you get to the class selections screen, instead of the 4(?) classes you get 8(?) options, one for each advanced spec.
  8. Try turning off shadows, in many mmo's it's one of the single biggest resource hogs in them, I don't know why but in most games I have managed to up my FPS by at least 30% by turning off shadows. Also I think part of the issue is maybe your AMD processor, don't get me wrong it's not a bad processor, it's just that most mmo's tend to rely more on processor than GPU, and most mmo's are single CPU optimized, so the higher the power in a single core the better, with AMD you tend to have a lower individual core power utilizing more cores making the overall power better, but the individual cores aren't, whereas with Intels each individual core is more powerful. So in most mmo's (there are some exception) and many single core optimized games Intel is better than AMD, but in some multicore optimized games AMD is better.
  9. As a new player (beta/release account that never got used for more than a few minutes) I would disagree slightly. Granted my highest level character is only level 15 at the moment so i'm not exactly experienced, but from what I have experienced so far in general the game is very easy even for us newbs. So far I have only died once on any of my characters and that was only because I went to the toilet and left him standing on top of a corpse i'd just killed and it re-spawned before I got back. Granted I haven't played a lot of the game yet so I don't know if it gets much harder, and granted i'm an experienced mmo player having played almost every mainstream mmo since UO, but it does seem a tad easy so far.
  10. I would highly recommend the 960 for those on a budget, especially the ASUS 960 Stryx, they're very good cards and when I tested one recently I was amazed at how well it performs for a low end 9 series NVidia card. I have it in one of my rigs paired with an i5 3.5ghz (it's a 4xxx series I forget which one) and 16gb of Kingston HyperX Fury 1600mhz memory, and I haven't found a game yet I can't play with at least 50fps on the highest settings at 1080p. In SWTOR with all settings on maximum (except shadows, shadows are the bane of my gaming life) at 1080p i'm getting a solid 90fps in most areas I've been to so far, dropping to about 65-75fps in high traffic areas. As I say, it's not the best graphics card out there, but for what I would call a budget card it's very good.
  11. You would be surprised. It may not sell to the new player crowd but there's a lot of people out there who have new alts and can't be bothered to craft or farm for "twinking" gear, that's the kind of customer these items sell to. What I do hate in many MMO's, and i'm not sure if it's the same here as I haven't delved too deeply into crafting here, is how crafting seems to be aimed at the high level end of the market. What I mean here is in a lot of MMO's the number and type of resources needed to make a low level item costs in time and resources far more than amount of in game currency a character of that level would actually have been able to farm up to that level, so crafting becomes only worthwhile at "endgame" levels. Is it that way here? and if yes is that why a lot of items are priced so high? and if again yes should BW look into this?
