Just to clarify:
[MK - kits are: MK 1 (10-16), MK 2 (17-24), MK 3 (25-32), MK 4 (33-40), MK 5 (41-48), MK 6 (49+)]
Any armor/weapon item that you can craft has the chance to have a critical, and if that is the case will receive an augment slot according to the items level.
Which means that a lvl 15 item will receive a mk1 augment slot, a lvl 27 item a mk3 augment slot and so on.

I don't understand why people keep saying that there's no point in trying to get a crit anymore. If you crit while crafting a level 49 -50 orange item, you get a MK6 augment slot for free. THAT is the point. Do you really think that you should get a MK6 augment slot for crafting a level 15 item with cheap mat requirements? Come on. One way or another, you're going to have to spend tier6 mats to get a MK6 slot. I, for one, am happy that they didn't restrict lower tier items to lower tier augment slots. We still have a vast range of choices, you just have to be willing to pay for it, and I'm okay with that.
That works fine for lvl 49-50 mod-able gear, but what about all the lower versions? (Besides, the augment slot was already "free" before the implementation of 1.3, and could be upgraded without upgrading the augment slot to the appropriate level.)
The range on MK - kits is: MK 1 (10-16), MK 2 (17-24), MK 3 (25-32), MK 4 (33-40), MK 5 (41-48), MK 6 (49+)
What if you like an armor set that is available at lvl 11, and you take it all the way to level 50? Updating your mods and augment slots as necessary. This is going to be a very expensive set since the you have to buy and upgrade your gear according to the mk level ranges listed above. And this is a very bad design, period.
Hence the suggestion that crit mod-able gear should have a scale-able augment slot. This in turn would rejuvenate the market for crit crafted gear, which at the moment is just a waste of resources (except for lvl 49-50 gear).

Question to all who lost names due to transfer - how long did you wait till the whole process was complete?
I ask this because one thing bothers me. My bro-in-law lost some names but he rushed and logged in before stated hour passed. I, on the other hand, started the transfer for all my four Republic toons and in the meantime I played on Empire for like 3 hours.
When I end playing I simply relog to new server and had all transferred toons there with their original names. I even logged in with all four just to check if the names will remain. Then I quit the game, logged in into account and ordered my other four Empire toons to be transferred. Then went sleep. Empire transfer I checked next eveninig (approx 12 hrs after order) and again - all toons with their original names, nothing lost.
But my bro - he ordered a transfer and didn't wait requested time (in my case it was 1 hour to complete). So I'm wondering - maybe that's why. You logged in too early when server "booked" your toon;s name but didn't finish all the transfer while toon was already on list. So when you entered a server you encountered an error. Simply server didn't merged your reserved name with your toon. And it was thinking that another player wants to use a name that is already reserved.
Just a thought - share your stories and let's see if I'm wright or rong
Before I initiated any transfers I went to the destination server and created name-holders, and found that 3 of my names were already taken. ( I just wonder how many names were "stolen" by people that played on the same origin server, but that liked another players name <raises his fist at BW>).
After that I would just delete a character, and then initiate the transfer. All 8 transfers went smooth, and the "1 hour" waiting time is just a safeguard put in place by BW. I was actually able to play a transferred character in less than 5 minutes after the completion of the transfer.

True, there is little point to TRYING to get a crit, for selling purposes, when compared to how it was pre-1.3. However, if you consider it, crit crafts will probably be worth approximately the value of the item+current value of augment kit+30k (or whatever the cost to add the augment slot is for that kit), you're up, what? 100k give or take a few tens of thousands?
In my opinion this will only remain for a while until the prices level out at a normal rate. Every time a new addition is made to the game there is a "hype" that drives the prices up. Eventually mkx-kits will reach a reasonable price, which still leaves crit crafted items at a loss in terms of investments.
BW needs to flag crit augment slots as scale-able items that are able to adjust to the wearers level.
I think the idea and introduction of augment kits are fine, but the whole system needs to be improved quite a bit.

1.3 took the whole reason for people to try to get a critical on crafting away. At this point crits are pointless, and just a waste of effort, money, and time. Way to go BW.
I thought that MKx kits would enable us to add augment slots to "normal" gear, and would leave the old system the way it was.
What benefit is there at this point even try to get a crit?
In my opinion this whole "addition" to the game is yet another money sink; as if we did not already have enough of those with the legacy perks.
I do not understand this whole change.
This system should have been changed in a way that it would enable/involve armormechs, armtechs and synthweavers in a way that they would have been able to add an augment slot to another players gear utilizing the trade window.
But as it stands... it is a waste.

some people made place holders on every server back in early access and again as new servers rolled out
because they care so much that nobody else could have it at all.
Wow... talking about determination, thanks for clarifying.
-
I didn't.. I planned ahead.
How? Since nobody knew about the choice of destination server.
I would lose 3 character names, and my legacy name if I would decide to move now.
-
I transferred one character and that was completed in less than one minute. Kudos to BioWare on that.
However, server overcrowding is a bad thing.

During the mission cinematic the player character seems to be checking/typing on a console, which ultimately ruins the whole atmosphere of this cinematic. Please have a look into it and fix it.
Thanks.

As far as I am aware all purple items are usable by the Biochem crafter only.
-
I have asked myself that same question. BW mentioned to open up more items for reverse engineering, but somehow it seems that Biochem was left out.

Has anyone received an official response about this issue yet?

They need to give bonuses to undermanned, under skilled and under geared factions.
To encourage more people and better players to pick that side. When ever game is a massacre because the enemy side always has way better gear because they always win people don't want to keep going.
Why Continue to get beat up endlessness for no reward when you can just switch sides.
SUUUURE... and I also would like to have a private island in the Caribbean sea

All these posts about the scourge of griefing, how dishonorable and disgusting it is, how something has to be done about it, etc, etc.
The whole reason I rolled on a PvP server was to level up and then re-visit the lowbie areas and cause havoc. My goal is to effectively shut down questing for the other side in an area until one of two things happens:
1.) They recruit some high level help who is able to come and kill me
2.) Some one rolls an alt on my side and asks me nicely to stop, possibly offering credits as a bribe at the same time.
If there is a point where I will get bored or tired of 1-shotting someone when all they are trying to do is complete a quest I have yet to reach it. My only regret is that there is no way to travel to the opposing factions fleet / capitals and be a nuisance there too...
You forgot:
3.) Enough players file a harassment complaint and you get the chance to talk to a CSR.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the event as well. Unfortunately, I was not able to get to play all missions due to time constraints.
I like events and the possibility to take a memento/keepsake away from it, but it certainly is sad if I can not even utilize the items that were randomly rewarded. The least that should have happened was a random drop based on the characters faction, this way much of the current annoyance and frustration among SWTOR players could have been avoided.
I hope that BioWare will introduce many more events in the future.
Keep up the good work BioWare!

First off to clarify my situation: I do only have 8 imperial characters on my server.
I participated in the last half of the Rakghoul Event and managed to obtain enough dna samples to buy 2 infected companion customization kits. Unfortunately both times I received a customization kit for Corso Riggs.
Legacy bound all nice and good but this is ridiculous. After participating in this even I have nothing to show for but 2 companion kits that I can not even use. Can a BW CSR please get back to me to check if a conversion into imperial companion customization kits is possible.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Did you try to reset the missions that you can not abandon? This can easily be done at the mission screen at the lower left corner.
I am not sure if this is connected, but did you finish all the lower level bonus missions on Belsavis as well?

Hello All,
Sorry if this is in the wrong area but I have a question about mods in lightsabers and armor. I am currently a level 34 Sage and I was told last night that if I got a purple red crystal that the stats even though they are in my lightsaber contribute to my overall character. By this I mean, even though I rarely use my lightsaber since I throw big rocks and little pebbles as a sage the stat bonuses from it effect my character. Like a crystal that would add +14 to damage(made up example you get the point) helps inflict more damage in my Telekinectic and Project? Now this guy who was telling me was also trying to sell me a purple crystal he crafted (I believe it was a purrple red crystal with +16 to crit or presence you get the point). He also want 30k for it and I have no idea what these things sell for so I didnt know if it was a good price so I passed. So my questions are 1. Does the crystal in sabers and armor effect stats of other things and 2. Was the guy trying to rip me off or is 30k reasonable? Thanks for all of the advice in advance..
1: 30k for a purple crystal that is at around your level (34) certainly is not worth it.
2: All stat increases will have a beneficial effect on your character, regardless of what item or gear they are. As long, of course, as you wear them.
3: As was already mentioned, armor does not have crystal slots.

I use WER for strafe left/right and forward, and I use the mouse to turn. Works like a charm for me.

I would also like to see and applet for my g510. Got mine for Christmas as well, and now I can not utilize all its features.

I am level 12 and just got a head slot item (mask/turban) as a mission reward in Dromund Kas. I believe I got it from the missions terminal in Kas City.
-
Great guide!

Head pieces seem to be dropping at a later level once you have left the starting areas. I am playing a bounty hunter and just got my first head slot item at level 12.
Augment Slots - Correct Me If I'm Wrong...

Augment schematics can be obtained through doing tier 1-6 "Sliced Tech Part" missions. Each time you have the chance to receive an augment schematic of the tier range that you issued the mission in.
