How does this really work? I see people assuming that this gives 100% armor penetration for 6 sec. The tool tip doesn't say that. It says "... increases armor penetration by 100%" not "grants 100% Armor Pen". This to me says that it effectively doubles your current Armor Pen or I guess "Surge" rate. Does anyone really know?

Sorcerers are fun and very powerful. If you're only using force lightning, then you won't do very well. In PvE, I play a madness/lightning hybrid spec, Force Lightning is more of a filler spell between DOT casts. Sorcerers play like a WOW shadow priest, apply DOTs, use filler spell. You can heal yourself and bubble in defense.

Does companion affection really matter at all? Should I care or spend time/credits to upgrade?

That supposed 5% actually have high-end machines like me. We tend to be the end-game raiders that would subscribe for the long haul. In the long run, that's going to cost Bioware a lot more then just 5%. I guess me and my crappy computer will just have to go back to playing Battlefield 3 on ultra.
