  1. http://www.shacknews.com/game/star-wars-galaxies-an-empire-divided/screenshots?gallery_id=4390&screen_id=13108 Here is a link with some large screen shots in swg for the person wanting to compare graphics with it and tor
  2. http://massively.joystiq.com/screenshots/sar-swg-housing-extravaganza/#/0 found this while looking around today -- 173 pics of why so many liked and still like swg Keep in mind that the things in the houses were either crafted by players, loot drops or quest rewards. They could be placed in any position, anywhere. Nice stuff
  3. The above post was correct. SWTOR and SWG are nothing alike. SWG was extremely immersive. It took people working together to make the game work.
  4. http://www.swgemu.com/forums/content.php?r=179-Install-SWGEmu I still had the game on my computer so all I had to do was download the launcher and logged right in. Very easy. You can have 2 characters on Liberator server and can log both in at the same time by going to the launchpad, clicking options and allow multiple instances = True. To get a better feel for control of the character I had to go under options, controls, keymap (bottom left) and then "load a standard keymap" and choose "first person shooter". The above suggestions, should you try it, make it feel easier to control and move around. I like I can have a artisian on and a combat toon at the same time.
  5. Skimming over the other post most seem to be pleased with the game if they had no or low expectations of the game before release. That's not exactly a glowing review. I had high expectations based on what I read about it and was totally let down. I was actually sad about it. I thought it was suppose to be a star wars game. After leveling a character to 50 which wasn't fun, I've yet to see anything that makes me feel like I'm playing a Star Wars game. Its linear and generic. Like others, once the time runs out I can't see myself wanting to come back and play it months down the road or years down the road if it last that long. Glad there are those that like it for the sake of the people that made the game but I wanted more sandbox features which it doesn't have nor would I expect them to ever add.
  6. I am right now, thank you very much. Outside of Bestine on Tatooine sampling water. I need some for the spiced tea so I can level up food. Been waiting a few days for it to spawn. Once a resource spawns that exact spawn will never spawn again. So if something is good you need to get as much of it as you possibly can and if its exceptional you get as much as possible and save it for making the very best item once you gather the other needed resources. That's the way crafting works in SWG. Its involved and exciting when something pops up you've been waiting on and you can run out and gather. YOU are the gatherer and crafter and there is more pride in what you create vs the companion doing everything. The space reverse engineering parts was great in the game. That what makes the game fun for sandbox players. Waiting and watching for the best parts or resources to spawn or drop. There is no mad rush to get to the end because there is no end. I hope they get the space up and in the Emu soon. I miss my ship and the free flying.
  7. Ultimately SWG was doomed to fail not because of SOE’s greed or its bugged gameplay but because it was a Starwars game that wasn’t very “starwarsy” I have to totally disagree with this statement. The moment you log into SWG it is walking into the Star Wars world. What isn't anything like Star Wars is SWTOR. Its a linear generic soldier shoot em up game. Doesn't feel like Stars Wars at all. You had the characters from Star Wars, ships, vehicles, huge cities wasn't alot in SWG that wasn't Star Warsy.
  8. pre cu -- Eclipse - Kaitlin, Kauri -- Kaye, Valcyn -- Pamelakaye, Wanderhome -- Pammie, and Goldie on an EU server I can't remember the name of. Last year or two before it closed down Ahazi -- Lexxee Alistar, Kaya Alistar
  9. Awww that was cute! Good Job! I bet she was surprised. Gifts that are original and show that a lot of time and thought was put into them are the best. You did real good.
  10. Old copy from the original game -- Choose your own path, and define your role as you prepare to take your rightful place in the Star Wars universe. You're only limited by your imagination. Build everything -- your own weapons and droids to houses, factories and shops -- live in a world entirely of your own creation. Experience the greatest Star Wars Saga ever told -- Yours I played before the revamp and came back several years after. The problem seemed to be people too stubborn to give it a try again after the changes. Most that bad mouth SWG either didn't play it or did but don't enjoy the sandbox type of game. The player cities with shops scattered throughout. People actually waiting for that perfect resource to spawn and able to make the best products for their customers. I'm not sure why people spaz about the housing. I never ran into issues with too many houses scattered around -- why? because the planets were so vast. When player housing came out sure people created and put down alot of them but it leveled out. And toward the end they had a blow up houses that had been marked as abandoned and then they were gone and out of the way. Player/guild bases were great. Remember those where you set up people keeping watch and getting the message in guildchat that the enemy guild was in mass outside the spaceport and looked like they were heading to our base. Get back there quick to defend and of course rebuild after it was over. Great times! You had purpose and worked together as a group.
  11. http://sandboxer.org/?p=376 Loved SWG so gonna keep an eye on this one and hope when its released its as described here. Don't think they'll make a new Star Wars game. They seem pretty sold that everyone will just settle for swtor.
  12. Exactly -- well said. With SWG people worked together, bonded over crafting, housing, ships. The people ran the game with the economy, not the game running the people down a linear path. Anyone that played SWG has fond memories of mature people they met and worked together with. Events and battles fought side by side. Houses and ships held our items and memories. Some were made into museums that you could go to and walk through just looking at new and old items. People were so creative and things you never imagined you could do with objects could be turned into wonderful works of art that would take hours and days to complete. I gave in and logged into the SWGEmu. As soon as I got to the log in screen I heard the music and I was home. Bugs and all I don't care, it just felt good to be back where you can be what you want to be and go where you want to go and you are the crafter.
  13. I'm terrible at jumping. Any game I've ever played if jumping to get somewhere is involved i'm a big fail. I don't know why because I do really, really try. The long drawn out one in Tatooine where you have to jump alot to get there and the balloon one I was unable to do no matter how much I tried, how many days I'd go and try. While you might be able to jump right over there without alot of trouble I couldn't. Finally I had a friend pull me up to the one in town and if he ever goes out to do the balloon one I'll do the same I guess. Its frustrating though when its something you want to do yet just can't get it. I'd like to do it on my own. Things like this, while are a side game and not a have to, are things that you want to participate in and enjoy doing not feel like after 50 tries in one sitting and still falling that you want to throw the computer out the window. I hear that it should be a challenge but geez have a heart and don't come down so hard on people that put forth alot of effort but are spazzy at jumping.
  14. For the most part I solo because of the freedom to get up when I need to without feeling rushed or embarrassed to ask someone to wait on me. The cat wants out, an aging parent calls and you have to go over and do something for them, son needs help with something or is hungry. There are many reasons and its not because people are selfish that they solo. Actually they are being the opposite by knowing they are constantly up and down from the game and don't want to make you wait on them. I like MMO games because you can craft and sell your items (although I don't here because paying a companion isn't crafting to me), but I can sell loot drops that are good on the trade market or I can buy crafted items from other players. You don't have to interact doing quest to both benefit from the grouper and solo player. If you are up against a quest that is impossible to finish on your own you can ask for someone to help for that one kill after you clear the path or be there to help someone in the same situation. I might have the t.v. on and be in game but something takes my attention and I stop playing to watch. If I'm with someone I can't do that or if you do it will make them mad for you to just stop in the middle of the road to watch something on t.v.. Why does it matter to you when someone wants to solo rather than do all the quest in a group? I don't care if I see a bunch of people running by me that they are grouped up questing. Besides all the above this game is pretty linear and you can level to 50 easy not grouping so you don't waste time standing around shouting for a group to progress. Most people are busy people and don't have hour upon hour to sit and just play. You want to have a few min. of peace and fun in a game and want to just log in and do a few quest before someone in real life starts wanting something from you.
