  1. I just started my Jedi knight and decided to be a guardian. I've never been good at tanking no offense to others who are but I decided on vigilance spec. I work better as a damage guardian. So my question is should I respec before going any forward or is vigilance a good spec for damage guardian. Any help would be great guys thanks.

    I take offense to that.

  2. you would actually increase the gear gap if you eliminated comm limit. Not everyone will have stored enough comms to buy the war hero set so as you ding 50, the smart players will have a huge advantage over people who dont save comms and have to buy the recruit set (f2p) or receive it for free (pre/sub). The grind of WH is there so that there is a nice mix of minimum geared to maximum geared instead of a bunch of high geared and a few minimally geared.

the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

All you need to know. The rich keep doing the things that make them rich and the poor keep doing what makes them poor.

  3. I couldn't agree more. Bioware is making a conscious effort to close the PvP gear gap. Doing away with a comm limit so you could buy your War Hero gear when you hit 50 would be a step in the right direction to close that gap between gear sets and make the grind a little less daunting.

I guess the argument against it would be that it eliminates alot of the goal associated with PvPing once you hit 50 but idk... I'm with you.

    /delete CommLimit

  4. It wasn't just that, but the study also addressed MMORPGs giving people facing the dreary reality of unsuccessful job hunting a place to go and escape that reality, if only for a little while. The study was pretty in depth, and I was impressed with it.

If you could find that, I'd love to take a look at it.

That makes alot of sense to me. An immersive MMO is a much greater escape than other forms of media IMO.

  5. There is no comparison.I played SWG for 7 years and would still be playing it if LA had not gave it the shaft.I've played TOR since beta and am completely bored with it.

Dont get me wrong I enjoyed the stories and the graphics of this but there's just not enough stuff in this game to do after 50.

In SWG there was much much more to do and you where not restricted.Space was way better, pvp was better, crafting, beast master, heroics, gear looked better and with ap tab, social aspect was much better, player housing.I could go on and on but this game is nowhere near as good as SWG unless they drop the themepark .

The community in TOR is just terribad compared to SWG .Too many whining entitled crying sniffeling little ***** in this game tbh.

The community really is the biggest weakness for this game as opposed to SWG. There was an earnestness about the community as Star Wars fans that feels lost here, I guess that can be attributed to the lack of content you mentioned driving away past SWG players like ourselves. I just think that when Star Wars fans aren't given "room to play" so-to-speak, they move onto games more condusive to that... like the EMU.

  6. It is a myth that economic conditions mean less subscriptions. In times of economic troubles, the relative inexpensiveness of a MMORPG subscription for unlimited entertainment is one of the best values you can get. It is a lot cheaper than cable television, the movies, just about anything else you can think of. There was a university study done on this back around 2008 or so, but I can't find the link now. I wish I saved that paper, people constantly claim that subscription losses are due to the economy, and it just isn't so.

Especially when you look at some other games player bases which are thriving right now. Claiming the economy has an influence over subscription numbers is just a mute point. If a poor economy means people will pay less for forms of entertainment, does that mean they just play board games and do jig-saw puzzles? Personally, I find the cheapest thing I can do when I'm saving money is staying in and playing video games.

  7. Everyone can quit TOR for guild wars fantasy and all, but do you think BioWare made this game, planning to make profit from... Star wars fans?

Heaven forbid star wars fans enjoy "star wars: the old republic"...

Come on, we're fanboys and fangals. You're all welcome within our game, and you're also welcome to leave it.

No offense, but don't say the game is dying as long as we're here! :D

This game is losing Star Wars fans left and right. Star Wars fans are some of the most creative, dedicated fans of any IP out there and when you throw them into a game that doesn't allow that creativity to flourish, they leave.

I was willing to look past the time period in which the game took place so that I could play in a vaguely familiar Star Wars universe but everytime I come back to give SWTOR another shot, I'm dissapointed. At least in SWG, your story was your own. Here your story is your own... but it's everyone else's too.

  8. Why all the hate? Oh idk maybe it has to do with all promises that they made before the relase of the game like 700 hour of game play the dev talk about per toon or maybe all the bugs in the game that dont get fixed or maybe it has to do with that the content that they do have is worthless like crafting (biochem) is the only one worth having or maybe that everyone look exacly the same just to name a few.

    Well said.

  9. how about just give us content. instead of coming up with wishlists that should be in the suggestion forum. just give us content

His post basically was just general examples of necessary content. The problem the devs seem to keep running into is thinking there just isn't enough PvE content in the game. If they took a closer look at making PvP enjoyable and crafting more intuitive, that's content that gives over and over. If they can get that right, players won't lose interest so quickly. I personally just don't feel invested in the characters I'm creating and that's probably the core issue for many players,

  10. Definitely make a point to do your bonus missions because I didn't do them for a LONG time and when I finally did, I realized I was probably leveling up an extra level per day because of it. Also, do your daily PvP mission. Sometimes you can get lucky and get 2 at once and earn about 20K xp collectively.

Oh and Gunnery is absolutely the way to go.

  11. Yay! Maybe these forums can now be about what this game IS (theme park/similar to WoW) and not what it isn't (crap pile that was Galaxies). Please take all the other Galaxies/sandbox fanboys with you and attempt to make/play a lasting game of that genre. Or maybe you can turn you praise to GW2 for now, until it releases, and then you can whine about that one, too.

Theme parks? Are they really the pinnacle of MMOs? A monorail online experience that everyone experiences the same with the exception of a few unbelievably fantastical class quests?

You're praising this game for being similar to WoW? The reason WoW is so popular is it is aimed at the lowest common denominator of MMO players. It is absolutely the easiest MMO to pick up and play without any prior MMO experience. To me, that is not something to brag about. Instead, you should look to SWGs crafting system or EVE online which both contain very complicated but rewarding systems that take a certain degree of intelligence to work out and find success in.

Either way, this game was absolutely aimed at consumers like you. No desire to attempt a difficult task that requires learning or an active brain cell. I will continue to play this game for a while for the sole reason that this is (I guess?) Star Wars. In my opinion, there aren't very many redeeming qualities to this game.

  12. bioware are making more effort concealing the fact they are loosing alot of subs than they are to fixing the problems that would get the subs back for them just feel sorry for people who have payed for the game but cant even play because of crashes and sooo on and sooo on.......................BioWare put more effort into fixing the problems in game and less effort deleteing threads and if the problems were fixed there wouldnt be such a panic

You making effort at grammar no?
