  1. "5v5 monthly, weekly, player created tournaments" is not comparable to "we are going to make raids feel epic". One term is ambiguous, and one term is solid. It's like saying "I have two shoes" is comparable to "my shoes are epic." They're not the same - Arenanet is focusing on making GW2 an esport, and they've already shown screenshots of the tournament UI. They are ingame tournaments, and there are also custom made tournaments. No, it won't. I'm not going to find the quote for you, but you can look up yourself. They're not going to have rankings in 1.2. They're going to group people up in the 50 bracket to play with those who are similar Valor rank, meaning if you're rank 65, you have a higher chance to play with other people who are close to your rank than people who are rank 10 or 20. Those aren't rankings. While the name may imply they are, "Valor Ranks" are nothing more than PvP levels, and the mobs that you grind are warzones.
  2. It's not just promises when they already said and have shown that there will be weekly tournaments, monthly tournaments, player created tournaments. These aren't ambiguous terms like what BW threw around for several years - these are actual additions to the game. You can't make it any more clear than "there are tournaments, 5v5, and here they are: *show it*". I don't see what's so intangible about that. Just because you're ignorant of the actual progression of GW2s development doesn't mean everyone else is. And ignorant is not a derogatory term in this sense - I mean that you actually don't know. And no, TOR doesn't have rankings. I don't think you know what rankings mean.
  3. I was having fun doing it, that's how I got to rank 70. But the fun quickly fades after your thousandth or so Huttball, and you realize if there is no actual way to determine your skill (such as arenas in WoW/ladders in SC2), there's really no point to play other than for "fun". And like I said earlier, after the novelty of the game wears off, the fun part (for me) comes in with the competition, and without the competition there is no fun.
  4. *You're And I'm back in SC2 atm, waiting for GW2 to come out - the only MMO released in the last few years that doesn't ignore its PvP base. At least that game will have tournaments and rankings, and combat that isn't based off of gear.
  5. There is no competition when there is no ladder/ranking. While valor ranks are not any sort of definition of skill, it is at least a testament to how much one PvPs. I have quit the game, upon reaching rank 70, because I don't wanna waste my life away grinding to rank 80/90/100 since there's nothing else to do in the game as a PvPer. If there were individual ratings, and server ladders, that would be better at least. But there's none of that. Playing for fun only lasts so long before fun is over and there's no reason to play anymore. I find fun in competition - when there is no competitivity, there is no fun.
  6. Because without rank 61+ there is nothing in this game for PvPers to do. Horrible game.
  7. Already quit. I had a 2month game card so my time is until the 20th of March, but I haven't logged in in a week.
  8. I don't think you know what sandbox means :/ EQ was just WoW with *******r gameplay.
  9. I think you mean Ultima Online/Runescape, because EQ was hardly the epitome of sandbox.
  10. Your first 5 abilities are dependent on your current weapon. You change weapons midbattle depending on which abilities you want. Your next 5 abilities are abilities you choose from about 50 different choices, so there's a LOT of variety.
  11. GW2 will be for those of us PvPers that BW has forgotten. And yes I've already unsubbed.
  12. I'm glad other people feel this way. I'm a rank 69 Commando, Gunnery (because it does more dps than the other spec), and it's not my fault my class was designed this way. I rolled him as soon as the game came out, I wanted to make a Commando as soon as I saw the giant gun. I didn't roll it because of its rotation, so stop being butthurt about it just because you died to me. Irritates me when people say "lol grav spam".
  13. Oh I enjoyed Wintergrasp and Tol Barad, because it was balanced. Ilum isn't.
  14. Ilum is stupidly designed, and Outlaw's Den was just forgotten. **** you Gabe Armantangelo. I always wondered, "why do they keep calling this guy a PvP dev god? He developed Warhammer? Didn't Warhammer crash and burn?" Yeah. Next time don't hire the janitor to do the cook's work.
